Dane, you always have the best helmet cam videos. I believe it is because of your great paddling posture, which keeps your head upright and centered over your boat. It is so refreshing to watch your videos with whitewater sounds and no music.

It's really nice to hear Adrian's succinct and to the point descriptions. I remember my first run down the Green Narrows with Leland Davis giving me a very similar set of instructions. Good times! :-) I had to smile when I heard Adrian say that with everyone else they would scout the next rapid but that you were just going run it. That Myrkdal-selva sure looks like fun, especially with the crew you ran it with!

Dude, Dane. That was a sick run!! I was gripping tight watching you only take instructions and then go for the rapids. Good to see a common question you had was "is there a hole". Each time the guy responding "Yes". 🤣 But shows that your always being cautious of what's next especially on big water. Amazing amazing buddy

How does Adrian remember these lines so perfectly?! I struggle to give good beta even on rivers I know really well. I recognise the features as I come to them, but couldn't describe most of the lines until I see them
@danejacksonkayak4 жыл бұрын
It is somewhat of a skill built up over time, but an important one. It's worth taking the time to try to become good at giving beta, your friends will thank you. The most important thing of beta is not giving too much information, just keep it simple.

great video, thank you! Also really nice to have a few without music. I love all of you guys. your videos are so great, cause they are entertaining but in the same time even a not so epxerienced kayaker like myself, I can actually learn things from your videos. For instance, as I never ran big waves as you guys do, it is so interesting to see for me that and how you lean into those big water rollers.

How do you get into whitewater kayaking? Are there any good forums?
@waynefatguyinakayak74082 жыл бұрын
There's pretty much a forum for anything you can think of, but your best bet is to look up local businesses in your area that specialize in whitewater, visit them in person, and find out if they offer instruction or can point you towards someone who does. Many can outfit you with all the equipment you'll need for their classes, so you can decide if you want to make the investment to buy your own after trying out the sport.

Like the end of an ocean wave, it’s a feature that you can get stuck in, and in some cases can be very difficult to get out of.

Lick your lense a few times it keeps water from sticking. Also, in between rapids throw water on your camera. It will wash any stuck bead of water off your lense. You should do both a few times every run.
