Not only is the suit incredible. A Superman that actually grew up on Krypton as a small child changes things drastically. We don't know yet how much he saw of Krypton ending but we know he was there at the beginning of the end. He witnessed the end of his planet in this run and knows his parents backstory of being discriminated against and tossed aside by the ruling classes. This was such an incredible start.

Krypton was always a super technically advanced civilization. Kal always had the knowledge of that entire civilization at his disposal. My favorite story lines are always the ones that tap into that.

He just doesn't really need to in most comics because he's so insanely OP that he can fix everything through brute force. It's the Superman issue, there's a lot of interesting directions you can go in, but unless you depower him somewhat significantly, they aren't really viable avenues to explore.

That's a proper depiction of artificial intelligence, I don't get why writers can't think of anything else on writing why Ai turned evil besides "we see you us inferior therefore you must die" like it doesn't make sense for beings as intelligent as them would immediately jump the gun and turn to violence instead of trying to fix global problems first before calling the world unredeemable

the absolute universe almost feels like a parody of gritty reinventions of superheroes that put he characters into a grimey world and woefully misunderstand the character- only the core traits of the character are actually preserved here while still in that grimey world, if that makes sense

Id say its more so far an exercise in how to do those darker and edgier stories RIGHT. Where rather than trying to chanfe these iconic characters into different characters the author of the moment likes better, they change the story by changing the situation around the characters while their core traits remain the same. Keeping the core appeal of these iconic characters intact while telling new stories

Idk if it is or not, but grim dark stories that dont have any hope, or anyone raging against the dying of the light, tend to get boring after a while, so id argue hope is an essential part of grim dark just my two cents tho @TonyTylerDraws

@@RowdyruffPrincess i would absolutely (haha) agree with you there, but at least with absolute batman- there is a sense of exaggerated edginess with how physically HUGE bruce is, how alfred is a assassin, how HUGE the batmobile is and how the party animals look with their stretched out ape skull masks and horrific crimes that to me feels like parody with the other two ongoing series it does feel more like an dark reimaging done right tho

I’d advocate for Bruce and Diana since they seem more grounded than their prime counterparts Diana isn’t as stuck up and Bruce lives with the everyday man instead of being upper class so having the trinity form in a way to get superman to not destroy or leave earth is a way they could do it

I like this take on kryptonian super tech. It absolutely makes sense that tech of this magnitude and power would have the forward thinking logical mind to give up on trying to save earth and would even suggest Superman to not even try. After the destruction of krpton it’s super easy to see why anything surviving from that world wouldn’t want to even try saving a world hellbent on its own destruction from within.

I really love this take on Superman and his whole design is really awesome. Superman has had a lot of menacing looks with the glowing red eyes in the past but whole narrative and world absolute dc has built up really gives so much more to these characters and their traits. He looks more cool than menacing to me and I think it fits well

Some planets cannot be saved from themselves. I bounce between grateful for the life I’ve lived and sad for the future we must endure. The hottest year on record and our leader wants to drill baby, drill. It’s like there’s no desire to even try and save the world for future generations. These will be the last generations on a recognizable earth. I wouldn’t blame Kal El for giving up on us cause we gave up on us a long time ago

AI suits always become the antagonist. It’s happening right now to the Peter Parker in the universe the maker created. His AI suit is actually venom but is supposed to be just a copy of himself he can bounce ideas off of. Venom always corrupts Peter with a quickness and that’s just the most recent example I can think of. Actually. Both stories take place in a universe that was created and designed by the biggest of bads. Super similar vibes.
