An unsolicited, earnest opinion: it's off-putting watching a streamer who rebukes their audience every other stream. It's perfectly reasonable to get upset at trolling, harassment, spoilers, or even backseat gaming, but the suggestion that an audience shouldn't share their experience defeats the whole purpose of this format.

Its Crystal's stream and their boundaries. The audience has been specifically told what is and isn't okay in their stream. If they continue to disrespect those boundaries then it will be addressed. I understand you may not see it the same or understand why but it's up to the streamer and their comfort not anyone else's

​@@jadestone5160 It's important for an online personality to set up boundaries and make their expectations for the audience clear, but it's also important for an adult to analyze their own feelings and reactions in a rational way, and for an entertainer to know the difference between providing a product and asking strangers to subsidize their hobby. Sharing one's opinions on the game being played unquestionably falls within the realm of normal discourse. If normal discourse falls outside of a streamer's boundaries than they either need to self-reflect, to have the self-discipline to moderate their interactions with the chat, or to switch to a format where audience participation isn't the point and purpose. An entertainer chastising their paying audience for 20 minutes over normal audience behavior is never acceptable. I predict the response to this will be: then go watch a different streamer. And yes, that's my point. This is a saturated marketplace. Everyone and their grandmother streams video games. CrystAAHHL, as bright, insightful, and multi-talented as she is, is still competing against legions. Watching these Danganronpa backlogs, with the way the chat is handled, I absolutely would not want to be part of this community. I'd feel like I was walking on pins and needles the whole time, with anything I say having the potential to trigger a self-described "mini breakdown." And I certainly wouldn't donate money to someone who chewed me out for behavior that would be rote and expected in any other stream.

@@K3k3000 I'm sorry but you said they should analyze how it makes them feel and do what is needed but that's exactly what's happening. Like I said before those boundaries are not for you or anyone else. It's for Crystal. And again you may not understand why, but it's actually very healthy for people to establish and enforce boundaries like like especially people who are sensitive to being overstimulated. We live by neurotypical expectations but this was a healthy interaction. It doesn't matter how oversaturated the market is. This is for Crystal to enjoy herself and share those experiences with other people. Those other people are signing up to respect her boundaries and face consequences when they disrespect them. What adult thing you should be talking about it respecting people's boundaries and not trying to ask someone to change and fit into the mold you're more comfortable with

@@jadestone5160 there's a world of difference between being conscientious of atypical neural needs and infantalizing a grown woman. What you're suggesting is less respecting boundaries than it is enshrining neurosis. A positive mental health environment does not translate to all hang-ups being catered to at all times. How Crystaahhl feels about any given behavior is her business. How she responds to her audience is her audience's, because they're the ones the product is for and the ones who are paying for it. If a streamer cannot handle the mere existence of a chat, such that they're brought to the verge of tears by people participating in the show they're watching, then this is probably not a good format for them and they should pursue other options, such as pre-recorded let's plays. Even then, that's not really the issue. The issue is the twenty minute lecture that came with it, which was both disprportional and completely inappropriate. A dancer is entitled to their stage fright, but can't expect to yell at an audience for watching their performance. A cosplayer is entitled to their body image, but cannot expect to slam convention goers for looking at their cosplay. And a streamer who wants to be immersed cannot rebuke their chat for participating normally in the stream. To be clear, I'm not suggesting that a streamer has any inordinate obligation to their audience. They don't need to respond to every last grievance, listen to their gameplay advice, laugh at their in-jokes, read their messages aloud, or participate in their arguments. But they can't chastise their audience for normal engagement. That's a very low and very reasonable bar to set. You say this show is for her, but it's not. A gamer who plays on their own time is doing it for themselves, but a streamer is an entertainer and an entertainer is someone who makes a product for an audience. A streamer is not a princess or a goddess; audiences aren't (or SHOULDN'T be) here to pay tribute and develop unhealthy parasocial relationships, but rather to watch an organic performance and share in the experience of playing a game with the streamer and one another. Again, we're not here to pay for a gamer's hobby, but to watch a show. Ultimately, I'm not demanding anyone change their feelings or behavior. I'm saying if this is the product, love it or leave it, then I'm going to leave it. I don't find this kind of interaction enjoyable or appropriate, and I don't intend to subsidize it. I suspect there are other potential customers who would feel the same way, and it is up to the entertainer to decide whether it is in their best interest to modulate their performance or to stay the course. Whatever the case, I don't begrudge Crystaahhl her audience and applaud every future success and milestone, and wish her audience happiness and enjoyment in their viewing experience.
