@clairewheeler2937 20 күн бұрын
@@caniform-craze2080 no of course not, same as you can't control an entire breed of any dog. My point is I have controlled multiple large breeds at once. I used to walk my 10 stone American bulldog boy who was the son of a weight pull champion that could pull almost a ton plus my french mastiff and no child or dog was ever harmed in all the years I owned them. Do not assume that just because a dog is large that it is out of control. Any breed can be child or dog aggressive and there are no charities that claim that bull breeds are more aggressive to children. They will be cautious and mind the size of a dog with small children but the RSPCA, dogs trust, hope rescue and a number of high profile charities have been fighting the Pitbull ban for years now so we are upset and disappointed that the government has completely ignored our advice and experience and choose to pander to public whim which sadly leads to even more tragedies as the root causes such as puppy farmed dogs and dogs that have been trained to be aggressive are swept aside as there is no money to be made in stopping the illegal trade of pups from abroad and the underground dog fighting that sometimes see well intentioned rescuers with a dangerous dog on their hands.

It also infuriates me that people try to deflect onto other breeds ie. Jack Russell's, springers and so on. There's a difference...... Most NORMAL dogs bite once or twice and let go. These bully's or any dog with pit bull in it latch on and DON'T let go. They latch on and shake like a crocodile until the prey are DEAD!!! Re GSD's- a local Newsagent family always had GSD's as pets and to also guard the shop {Family lived above the shop} Now the family are retired, they no longer have GSD's because they say they are not strong enough to manage one. Theirs were always well trained dogs, and never a moment's trouble- but the owners had common sense and realised as they got older and less strong, keeping two GSD's wasn't fair or practical. Regarding self defence against pitbulls, Its all about the frequency of the killer blows. A gun cannot deliver bullets with high repitition unless its a machine gun. A knife can stop a pitbull as the repitition of the knifes blows is not dependent upon a mechanical mechanism. It is dependant upon the rage of the person who is holding the knife. The only determining factor would be the strength and sharpness of the blade and the force of the blows. Trust me people, there are some evil, sadistic knives that are actually banned by world governments because in the hands of the wrong person ie, an enraged person, they could literally chop a human or a DOG up like a kebab. Those knives are designed for superior strength and superior sharpness and are banned for a reason. But i still think an average sharp kitchen knife could easily disable a pitbull if the person holding the knife was psychotic enough with their blows on the pitbulls body. Also, a heavy hammer is very effective when repeatedly swung by a pyscotic individual against a pitbulls skull. Trust me people, a heavy hammer being swung with severe force against a pitbulls skull would completely obliterate its head with actual pieces of its brain matter flying out all over the street. The only problem is that during an actual attack the pitbull will go straight for your arm, leg or neck so you would not have time to go inside the house to get a heavy hammer as you would be pinned down by the pitbull. But if a pitbull was outside your door you could arm yourself first with a heavy hammer and then go outside. When it starts charging, you would need to be very accurate with your swing because it would probably be too fast and instantly grap onto your arm or leg or neck. But if it goes for the hammer first and you start swinging with the hammer at the pitbulls skull then the pitbulls skulll would be smashed to a mushy pulp with repeated severe blows with a heavy hammer. If you swing the heavy hammer at the pitbulls body then every bone and muscle in the concentrated area of the blow would be smashed internally without the skin actually breaking. The severe force of the blow and the heavy weight of the hammer are the factors that cause massive damage internally to a pitbulls body along with severe repitition of the blows in a concentrated area.

Many dogs that I see these days are deformed and can hardly walk let alone run. It's just cruelty. If anyone has a dog they must give it a proper life by becoming the alfa and controlling it. Dogs love to be controlled, it's so natural for them. Having a dog for image or fashion or just because it's the thing to do is simply cruel.

@@clairewheeler2937 clearly the nuance of rewarding bad behaviours is lost on you. It's not about the dog being aggressive. It's about owners who lack the basic knowledge of when to reward their dogs, and how to train them. Which in turn leads to badly behaved dogs. Which are the type of dog to aggressively maul someone. There's a correlation that can be observed between bad owners and aggressive dogs that are put down. No one needs such a big and powerful dog, especially not in the UK. Banning them, or requiring a special dog license is a must for the breed.

The idea that this person could manage the dog is delusional. It's a big dog full of muscle and if it kicks off for whatever reason you will NOT be in control. You only need to have had a normal staffie with your hand/knee in their mouth (this was play/greeting.. really friendly soppy dog, was regular delivery driver to owners house) to realise that if it meant business you'd be in a lot of trouble really quick.. for reference purposes I'm 6ft and over 15st. Dogs have a lower centre of gravity, so if they take off UNEXPECTEDLY you are off-balanced and you go with them.. it only takes a moment. That's with a small/medium dog.

In the UK if you carry a large hunting knife, especially if you claim its for self defence you WILL most probably be sent to prison. It is illegal to carry any knife with a blade over 3 inches, and that MUST be a folding, non locking knife. I suggest you carry a heavy walking stick, but NEVER say its for self defence as that is considered an admittance that its an offensive weapon.

I agree that poor ownership adds to the problem but the breed itself is a problem due to the sheer size and capabilities it possesses. When it is a hopeless situation for who or whatever they are attacking, then it is clearly too dangerous to be out in public. Why risk more lives for the sake of owning this unnecessary breed.

Trouble is there are too many irresponsible people who want one of these dogs. Couple that with bad breeding and you have a killer. Interestingly they didnt show how her dog reacts to other dogs or how she manages him around other dogs. Where is he walked? Is he let off the leash?

I've had both my dogs since they were 8 weeks old. They have only ever been loved and have had amazingly fulfilled lives with loads of treats, enrochment and socialisation. They are incredibly friendly. Staffy/rottweiler cross and an alsation mastiff cross. Both BIG dogs. Would they never bite anyone? I can't imagine they would but I'm responsible owner. I keep them on leads around small chidlren. If they are off lead in a park and I see another dog in the distance, I put them back on their leads "just in case". The problem isn;t the dogs, its the owners.

Banning does not work. If this breed gets banned then some other poor breed will get picked as a status dog, such as a cane Corso or a presa canario. Licensing all dog owners is the way to go. The dangerous dogs act 1991 did not work.

great advocate for the breed,she is spot on banning the breed is the easy option and does nothing to sort out the problem.unless you banned all the big dog breeds,and only allow small size dogs,i'm not sure how to stop it. humans are the problem,irresponsable owners,and there are so many of them it will always happen until people are seriously punished,at the moment they put the dog down and give a slap on the wrist to the owner.

Any dog that's raised in an antisocial way is going to have antisocial traits . Even people who fight dogs don't tolerate human aggressive dogs and they're trash humans . The problem is people using dogs as security and intimidation and treating them inappropriately and teaching them to be aggressive .... Start regulating pet ownership based on the humans behavior and stop blaming the animal . You can't keep treating the symptoms and ignoring the cause ....

This is hard to watch because the interviewer is just nodding the whole time the interviewee speaks. Is this an interview technique because it's very distracting and seems like she's agreeing with everything the interviewee is saying instead of being neutral. Btw, of course these dogs should not be pets, they're bred to attack, it's in there DNA
@theonlyscarlet
@theonlyscarlet Жыл бұрын
geeze have you never noticed that when talking to people? Nodding is a common body language signal for listening and understanding what has been said. It does NOT imply they are in agreement. And yes it is also adviced to show interest to your interview partner verbally and/or physically and even though this lady is doing it quite noticeably it can be due to various reasons (animating the interview partner to continue talking; showing that you're really following the explanations or potentially even agreeing with what has been said; not knowing how this lady typically nods during interviews it could also be that her "excessive" nodding might be due to being tired/borded/barley listening or even being influenced by her surroundings e.g. unfamiliar setting/anxiety etc. - but you can't judge her body language by 1 short clip so just lots of potential speculations)

There are 4 characteristics to owning a dog each of which needs addressing - (Animal instincts , Canine Instincts, Breed and Pet” The first two are common across all breeds and so dogs are more alike than they are different. If owners fail to address any of the requirements in each of those categories the dog can become unbalanced…..hence a Chihuahua can become as unstable as a Pit bull. The main difference between these is simply power and size which is why one makes the headlines and the other doesn’t. Breed is the job they do but the lack of attention to the animal and canine instincts is primarily why they become unbalanced, usually due to lack of correct communication and effective leadership. Ironically too much love and not enough rules/boundaries. I have trained and rehabilitated many dogs and particularly have had many dealings with guarding breeds that have become obsessively aggressive due to the dog feeling unsafe, poor relationships and lack of structure with their owners. Dogs attack and become aggressive for a REASON not for pleasure!!!! The only cases which I have never been able to be resolved have been neurological issues. More people are bitten by small dogs than large but these are never reported and the majority of aggressive dogs I deal with and recieve bites from are “Teddy bear” dogs that normally have resource guarding issues. Dog bites are on the increase Yes but that is directly related to the increase in ownership, the size of the dog population (now reported to be 13 million), Covid lockdown when many people adopted pets and now no longer have time for them, increase in imports due to the tight rescue centre regulations for adoption in UK and ineffective inconsistent leadership from owners. Don’t blame the player blame the game!! godt.uk/?sptp_member=neil-gardener&team=323

I think this lady is very sensible however she mentioned that they have pit bull in them and if you look at the videos of the ones that have attacked they all say they have had them for years and they have been lovely and they they have suddenly snapped. Then when they do snap they are such powerful dogs that they can’t be controlled and they do so so much damage. Comparing it to a Jack Russell biting someone is like comparing an attack from a domestic cat to a lion

With respect to her for doing this interview but there is NO WAY this woman could hold back her dog if it went for another dog or person. Yes she admits she wouldn't have bought it now but even before the media hype how did she think she could control its strength? Why need a breed as a defence? The point there is is you intentionally bought a dog that can attack. But its not you who choose what it attacks. The dog chooses!!! That's your penny drop moment right there.
