The owner of one of the largest XL bullies dog kennels in America has said she is angry and outraged over the British government's plans to ban the breed despite a spate of horrific attacks which have led to deaths. Kathryn Sowerbrower - who is one of the top Pitbull and American Bully producers in the world, defended the animals in an exclusive interview with Good Morning Britain, accusing the prime minister of “prejudice” and “discrimination” against XL bullies (she went as far as comparing it to racism). Hundreds of XLs across the UK have descended from her six-year-old Bully, who is renowned for his size and appearance.

No, it's like asking a Desert Eagle gun manufacturer if Desert Eagles should be banned. You're right that of course they're going to say no, however, the reason for correcting your analogy is because even if you banned Desert Eagles people could still buy Colt 45s, 38s, 22s... Bans don't work as the problem of bad owners, both those with bad intent and those who can't/haven't trained/treat their dogs properly. The solution is: Register owners (license powerful dog owners) and make owners liable not only for out of control dangerous dogs but also the damage that dog does (eg murder/manslaughter) License breeders (make them liable for poorly trained dogs, ie make them liable for dangerously out of control dogs to ensure continued care and training for owners from professional breeders - too many owners don't know how to train/treat their dogs) Establish a DNA register

But to say that the XLBully is just the same as any other dog race is just ridiculous. You cannot say that a cat is the same thing as a tiger, or that a lizard is the same thing as an aligator. If you want to own a dog like this it should be muzzled and leashed in public, zero exceptions or forgiveness, plus heavy fines if caught breaking the rules. If these dogs escape they should be permanently removed. These dogs should need to be registered and fully insured for liability so that when they do attack, the victims actually get something out of the owner. Finally a single incident of aggression should be immediate grounds for the dogs to be euthanized.

I don't think banning a breed or dog is going to fix this issue with dog attacks all this does is rip the good dogs away from they're owners. I feel like yells government should be vetting the breeders of these animals more Is thoroughly and trying to go after the people who are breeding poorly bred puppies with temperament and health issues not going after Innocent pet owners.

This is the real problem. We own a regular pittie, sweet as pie, but he's high energy, as are all bully breeds. If you don't have room to exercise them they get pent up and frustrated. They also do have a tendency to be dog reactive, so if you've got a bully breed in an apartment setting where it doesn't have much room and is potentially surrounded by other dogs in neighboring apartments, it's going to be hyped up all the time, which is a disaster waiting to happen.

That is the point she is making...too many DODGY CHARACTERS own the dogs and KEEP THEM LOCKED UP so they have PENT UP FRUSTRATION AND ATTACK. I completely agree. That is what she is saying too. But the Government does not understand...the Government and many banners think that those dogs will always attack someone and turn on someone...even when they are trained and looked after properly...which simply is not the case. As you can see in the video...if those dogs are given proper conditions...then they will be very harmless. But because the owners cramp their big dogs in small rooms and don't give them enough space to roam and don't give them enough looking after...those dogs become more frustrated in the UK and THEN they turn. I am not sure that banning is the right solution...because banning will make bad people breed the next dangerous dog on the list that isn't banned and bad breeders will keep creating dangerous monsters...no matter what laws and bans are made. I don't think banning is the right solution, at the moment. It is like how some people own lions...obviously if you let your lion into the pubic with a leash...it will try and attack someone...no matter how harmless it seems to be at home...but if you make precautions to not make the lion come close to public members and if you keep a strong lead on the lion and if you put things like muzzles then the lion becomes harmless to people because you have basically kept lions well away from humans to cause a danger...same thing with these dogs.

Dogs that are kept in cages like this have the potential to attack when they get spooked or basically when they are let out of their cages or into the street. I’ve seen a guy walking one and the xl bully dog didn’t bark or try to attack me but it was pulling on his lead and dragging the owner around who was a grown man. I’m sure they are lovely dogs most of the time especially with their owners, but they also pose a threat to other people, particularly young kids who are not strong enough to fight off a dog of this size if it suddenly attacked someone. There are dog breeds where the dog poses almost zero threat to humans, as a dog owner, I love my dog because he’s soft and loves meeting new people and other dogs has never bitten anybody, he can be off his lead and he’s totally fine around little children and babies. One because he’s a good breed for a house pet, and two because he has grown up in a loving home, where the calmness of the owners and the family around him have made him a big cuddly softy who only barks when the doorbell goes

Dogs don't need to be humanised and won't ever be comfortable in that world.. They should be trained and respected as our companions and given mental and physical stimulation. Unfortunately the breed is a cross breed from what we could define as a fighting dog so inherent blood lines alone start you in a very tricky direction. That being said all animals and humans are a social product of the environment they exist. So an XL bully in a happy environment with correct training and stimulation is all good. Now put a clown on the end of the lead with 2 legs and a set of pressure surroundings with stress and we're in bother big time. I've trained many dogs and those labeled aggressive. It's all connected pretty much to the environment and training... case in point I have had more issues with cockapoos over last few years because I would suggest a large proportion of cockapoo owners aren't dog people and have purchased a cross breed with working spaniel lines and have no real idea what they need to do to live with anything other than a TEDDY. Now back to the bully, by design they're appreciated or attracted to certain individuals for all the wrong reasons and no matter what your going to do with the breed they will find another cross to abuse and own .. hence a lot are ending up in rescue centers already. Bin that and go find another.. any dog can cause injury to human flesh, but if you look aggressive to start with it's far easier to label and get you banned than a sheep in wolf clothing. Unfortunately I think the breed was created for all the wrong reasons and it will be banned.. The same can not be said for some of the individuals that own dogs generally for the image and aggressive status.. and that's any status dog... I'd happily train any dog. It's the human that's attached to other end of the lead that's the problem

I had Rottweilers as well 3 all rescued they were great dogs, but it took me a long time working with them, training, socialization to have them trust me as well as others. 3 were abuse cases. They lived good lives and such good dogs. But my breed has always been the bullys, I won't own any other dog. Every dog has teeth and any dog can bite. Something also needs to be done about backyard breeders hackers of these dogs. If there were ways to honestly get ahold of backyard breeders and try to keep them from doing so alot of the so called "aggressive " bullys. Pittys would be better off, I know it's a tall order for something like that. When you work in rescue, I am in bully rescue, it's absolutely heartbreaking to see the amount of them slaughtered at shelters. It should be an honor and privilege to share a chapter of your life with a dog and not an entitled throw away gimmick. We could probably go on here for days, but there's a narrative that people want to fill in and justify.. you get a car license to drive a car, you should realistically be licensed to own an animal in public for both your protection and it's so you don't get idiots breeding for easy cash and filling up the rescue centers...a cockapoo is a working cross. A Hungarian viz is a working dog, yet they're popping up all over with anxiety issues, coz guess why, owners like the look but not the work involved..... Border Collies were a classic example years ago. They went stir crazy from mundane domesticity.. and research cocker spaniels. A working dog breed that can have real issues with non working lifestyle and anxiety built ticks.. small dogs, like secret assassins can curl a lip that nobody sees other than the other dog. Everyone needs to be aware of what their dogs are capable of and passing it off as. Eeee he or she's never done that before ain't gonna wash... We can't save every dog kidda but I'm impressed at your effort to do what you can. I'll rescue what I can and work with owners to clear up lines of communication with their dogs.. be good and take care of your rescues ❤

We cant be ignorant commentators. The videos that they showed looked like pitbulls not bullys. They are totally different breeds. Furthermore, even with pitbulls, they can do more damage if they bite , but smaller breeds bite just as much or more. Those little ankle biters bite, but its not reported. So should poodles and chihuahuas be banned? Ban the irresponsible owners....

All dogs have a potential for aggressive prey drive type behavior, regardless of breed. The only difference is relative size and bite power. A vicious 20 lb Pomeranian is less likely to invite public scrutiny than a 120 lb bully with a similar temperament. The only equalizer is human supervision, which is anything but reliable or consistently adequate, particularly when trying to control larger breeds. Hence, the breed banning...

@@GeneralCouncilCommunicationMainly because there's already so many homeless dogs in shelters. Thousands of dogs (especially pitties) get euthanized everyday because people buy from breeders instead of adopting. Not to mention the fact that many breeders do pretty inhumane things (rape racks, inbreeding, straight up abuse, etc). Animal breeders are in it solely for the money and nothing more

I was chased and attacked in the street in Birmingham last year. The culprit was a out of control vicious German Shepherd. I had to go to hospital and have stitches.

There are too many irresponsible dog owners out there never mind dangerous dogs. Small dogs aren’t as threatening apart from maybe bull terriers, but the odds are you can cope with an attack from small to medium sized dogs. Not saying big dogs should be banned, but there is definitely an issue in this country with out of control dangerous dogs and irresponsible owners. I say that as a former Rottweiler owner who was responsible.

I remember a German Shepherd barking loudly right at my face a few centimetres away...fortunately nothing happened. The owner was there with a leash and he apologized for his dog's behaviour. I was not scared. There was a German Shepherd that went up to almost its full height in a park (it was on a leash) and my mum is around 5'0" so she is short and she does not like dogs that much so she got scared because the dog was towering over her and barking lol. Nothing bad happened. My mum and her 8 brothers and sisters and parents owned a labrador a long time ago but that dog was very calm and nice...sadly a snake killed it.

After the time that man spent with Kat & her dogs where you can visually see 0 aggression or uneasiness with any dog shown yet the final words he said were “but obviously they’re vicious monsters who’ve been simply bred to kill”?? Makes no sense at all. Not one bit. There’s obvious pre-existing bias from this interviewer and what a damn shame that is. Kat was very well spoken & has a ton more knowledge and spent a lot more time with dogs than any of the interviewers in any of these videos & interviews. I’d be interested to see on what dogs that have attacked people actually DNA test as true American Bullies or rather mutt-mixes because I have doubts.

EVERYONE IN THESE COMMENTS THATS SAYS THERE VICIOUS AND EVERYTHING YUU GUYS NEVER HAD ONE STOOPID, I had multiple they all passed away but lemme say this they were all sweat pitbulls are way better than any other dog like a German Shepard the only reason you don’t see it it’s because they cost more. My dog got killed a couple years back for not doing anything but be her self and loving everyone they took the y way she looked and judge it buy its cover, dogs learn just like humans do, soo all this anger towards the dog should be on the owners because these dogs are the best family pet and anyone who goes against that can SMD‼️🖕🏼

Gorgeous dogs. Mine is a gentle giant x his name is Teddybear none aggressive. All he does is want to play and I am an old lady who is very loving but my hubby says I should wear the muzzle as people pass by and tell me it's a dangerous dog. I rip them apart with my self sharpening tongue. I blame the owners not the dogs. My Teddybear is soft as pudding.

When are the owners of these dogs ever going to be held responsible??? You never get to hear that side of the story, do you!! Whenever any dog, any breed attacks a child especially, the dog usually automatically gets put down, and i do not think that is acceptable! Picture the scene of a family pet you have, any breed of dog, and your child is a little brat, you know you have them, and you leave them alone with the dog, next min the dog has bitten the child, and this is a friendly loving dog never bit before, but your child is not especially great with animals, imagine if while alone the brat tried sticking a pencil in the dogs ear/eye whatever, and the dog then bit the child understandably, i am sorry but that dog should not be put down that little brat should, to strong for most of you i know, but it really pisses me off how the animals are always to blame, and always get the punishment and no other f...ker takes any responsibility!!!! Imagine if someone came up to you and stuck a pen in your eye, love to see your reaction, i'm sure you would just stand there and smile, yeah right!!!

These people always remind me of Oppenheimer. There's a difference, though. Even if Oppenheimer never actually pressed the button or pulled the lever - he still realised what he had created. It's my understanding that he came to feel keen remorse. And, I'm guessing, if you asked him about Hiroshima he'd not say, "Well, I don't know about that. All I can say is my bombs are harmless." Then again, he wasn't inherently evil. He was just an inventor who invented something really destructive before wishing he hadn't.

You're kidding, right? This isn't an inanimate object designed only to destroy. They're living creatures with just as much capacity for love and companionship as any other dog, the only problem being their jaws. Any breed can get violent.
