Dangerous Elevation | Jeep Gladiator VS. Steep Mountain Road in Snow Storm

The Story Till Now

The Story Till Now

Күн бұрын

There's a place in the mountains of British Columbia that is only accessible 2-3 months out of the year due to it's high elevation. The road is narrow and carved into steep mountainside. Even in July we would face snow, and risk sending our Jeep Gladiator rolling down the mountainside with one wrong move.

Love the footage and the rigs. It is quite breathtaking.Looks like Cruiser didn’t have a front locker. Also as long as you don’t break any branches and all trash leaves with you,it keeps the parks open or years to come. Here in the USA they sometime close some trailheads because of human behavior. I hope one day I can do that in an FJ cruiser at a similar locale.

First off, another phenomenal video. I had also never heard of the 1700 meter law so I was looking for clarification on it as I hope to start overlanding in the Spring of 2021 and found this article on an Canadian outdoors forum from 2016 where people were fined for going "off roading" in southern British Columbia. It would probably be wise to check with your local/Provincial/State or Federal government agencies for current Laws and Regulations. “It is an offence to operate any motorized vehicles off of existing roads and trails above 1,700 meters (5,577 feet) in elevation,” Myroniuk said. “It is also an offence to operate a motor vehicle in a manner causing damage to the environment (at any elevation). This includes mudbogging.” Fines for those types of offense range from $230 to $805.

Stumbled upon your channel this morning. Nice job on the editing and cinematography. Will be looking forward to future updates. Two thoughts, 1) can’t you use the drone for scouting ahead? And 2)great example of the need for front & rear lockers, or automated traction control even on “flat” ground, slippery surface and you lose traction. Nice job, and great location. Looking forward to getting my new Bronco next year and heading out in the PNW.

In her mind she's the custodian of the forests, keeping the marauding hordes(potentially) at bay, cos she's better equipped to protect it than the rest. I'm surprised Armstrong wasn't jumped when he stepped out that time and his line 'one small step for......hello Houston.....we have a problem. She got here before us...standby". History would never have been the same, but then again, they're revisionists, and are attempting to change the past.

To be fair to the Karen , she is 2% right. It goes to show that just a little knowledge can be "dangerous" though. depending on the region you might be in BC hunting regs limit motorized access above certain heights. Second part to the story ... Is so long as there is a road , it's allowed. Hunting regs are built off the wildlife act, so..again she's only partially right. Right? I've been four wheeling in these parts of BC for almost a decade and heard nothing of this ever. Sounds like this lady is just bitter that other people are using the trail and making shit up!

@@jayb7796 she's probably seeing an increase in traffic which to her is probably a few more 4x4s a month. But honestly it looks like a pretty well traveled trail. Most parks have regulations about not driving off road. Shes probably just confused or trying to scare people off her mountain.

That's the only reference there is to be found because there's no such rule (the way she stated it). She may have been confused with the rules from another region.

@@TheStoryTillNow totally..... And if you really weren't supposed to be there there would have been signs, if not a gate blocking access.

Your editing is really nice balance between documentary and KZbinr! You and your crew should charge for limited Jeep convoys to take beginners up to camp. I’m in California and when we get our Rubicon I really want to do something like this and take our daughter.

Hefty fines await users of off-road vehicles who veer off existing roads and trails when operating at high elevation. Like your friend said...you're on a road. Perfectly legal.

Shawn. I have trouble trusting people. I have watched your channel now for some time. I feel that I can trust you. I have a 17 Rubicon. I am in AZ. If I made my way up there could you help me put it together? Do not want a bunch of stuff I do not need? I am 73.

Hi William. Thanks for watching. Give my friends at Epic Adventure Outfitters a call. They will tell you exactly what you need for what you want to do, even if you’re not going to have them do the work. Then if you really feel you want to drive all the way up here, I’m sure they could take care of the work for you. I’m not an expert by any means, but they are, and I trust them. They may also be able to recommend a shop closer to you as well that is trust worthy. I hope this helps and I’m happy to offer my thoughts here as well if you have any specific questions.

Effin BC. Great province but you let the hippies take too much control. That woman on the ATV needs to mind her own business. Your on a road, not tearing up virgin lichen and moss as I am sure she does when she goes on her ATV. Great video!
