Sandblasting lead paint creates a very fine particulate of the lead that gets everywhere and lingers stubbornly, even with a good filtration system. Also most countries have strict laws about heavy metal disposal and you would face legal consequences if you contaminated the area.

Its 220v. That paint isn't going to stop the arc if a wire touches the case. That bare copper ground wire is much more conductive than a hand touching the same paint. If the paint is such a good insulator that the copper wire cannot ground it, how are you going to become a ground for the case? Its fine.

Your skills have really improved since the first time I pinned your ears back just some weeks ago. If you like to paint your objects on a level surface instead of hanging them and moving around them as you spray, you might want to make yourself a turntable to rest the objects on and just rotate the turntable. The camera can stay in close-up and you can hit all angles without yourself needing to move around. Just an idea. PS Final coat the interiors and bottom sides first so that the object is not resting on a final coat risking damage to the finish that ultimately is most visible.

Beautiful restoration! The paint stripper is about the only realistic method to clean off the old coatings. You could try the "green" stuff, which is basically vinegar. It does not work anywhere near as well as those chemical-based solutions. I've used the harsh stuff for years and have tried the so-called safe products. I'll stick with the toxic stuff. I am kind of surprised you don't spray the finish paint. Ease of application alone would direct that. Your work turned out excellent so, brush away, man. Brush away... Nice video. @VegetaIsBetterThanGoku

That little bit shouldn’t hurt most people. It’s when the fine dust gets airborn is when you have to worry and even then it was such a small amount most people would be fine. My grandfather worked in an asbestos factory after his WW2 tours for most of his life. He died in his early 80’s but the asbestos didn’t affect him at all. He always thought it was a bunch of nonsense and only certain people would get sick from it even though we know that’s not the case I do believe people treat it like a contagious cancer of sorts. If you handle it properly it’s fine, just think of the millions of people that built things with it, sold it in stores, worked in the factories, and contractors that used it. Millions of people didn’t die and most didn’t even get sick from it, it’s a little overblown just be cautious with it. Also it’s not like it directly affects you, it gets in your lungs and clogs them up and can’t be removed kind of what smoking and mold spores do to you.

SOMEONE: On the cable, the earthing contact must be the longest wire. In addition, it must be connected bare with the housing to be protected. Here, according to the video, it seems to me that he was screwed on the paint. Furthermore, the connection cable is missing a strain relief. ME: What you'r saying is partially BS! It does not matter if the earth/ground is the longest. What indeed does mather is the strain relief... Eventho it is in place! Its that little plate! it compresses the cable! AND... He did indeed screw the cable onto the paint... Altho... It does not really matter because it did not have one in the first place (and YES!! I know it not up to code this way!) Also he used a way too thick cable to be able to CORRECTLY use the strain relief!! Tinko Mertens - Electrician in the making! p.s. he probably lives in the eu!! Its a european plug!!

The quality of the restoration is superb, as always TysyTube 👌 I have an observation though. The hole in the stand is not for aesthetics. It is functional. The power chord is meant to feed through that hole, as not to sandwich the chord between the stand and the 'Hot' Chassis, causing the cable sheath to melt and thus cause a short. In fact, the entire strain relief mechanism is dubious. Safety should take priority whilst still keeping an honest honest restoration. However, that 16A cable is quite a beast to manipulate, so incorporating a 'Stop' into the stand might be advisable?

No sweat, I saw this one before. Radiators can sure help keep your bedroom warm and dry during the rainy winter. We nowadays make better radiators. It can wven dry out your clothes, which is also what the experience is. This was back then in 1985. 🌧

Amazing work. Idk if you can find these where you live, but try using a foam brush applicator to apply that paint. It’ll prevents brush marks, in which I saw a few. But love your work nonetheless.

No. 1: Missing wire end sleeves No. 2: Protective conductor must be twice as long as the other two wires No. 3: Protective conductor not correctly connected to the housing No. 4: Missing strain relief and, barely seen No. 5: Missing kink protection for the cable, or without proper implementation mounted (Time 18:33). The cable can easily break there or chafe the insulation. Conclusion: May not be put into operation! You are right and I hope he reads this !
