No one expects it. I mean, it's a free knight!!! And the best part about it is something he said, it's not a trap. It's not the ICBM opening, it's not fool's mate, Jerome's gambit, or whatever other one trick pony opening. It's just strong opening principals that put you in a solid position and push the opponent's pieces into being useless. You can actually play this against anyone. Obviously, Hickie and Maggie will put you in your place, but they'll do that regardless of what opening you play. At least this one is a sound and theoretically correct way to go. 😂

@TzV357Ай бұрын
This is my version of Halloween counter gambit After pawn to d5 move knight back to e5. Now if they push pawn up to f4. You counter gambit by going bishop to b4 pinning the knight. After pawn takes knight. Take their pawn on e4 with knight. You are just in a better position. If pawn to a3 trying to kick your bishop away. Take knight on c3 with knight hitting queen. If pawn takes then check with bishop and you win a rook on the exchange. If they move bishop to f4 instead of pawn. Still follow through with the moves and their queen side would be disrupted and you'll be in a better position. (You'll just have to play chess after that) If they don't take the gambit and moves pawn to e3 to kick bishop. Take knight on c3 putting them in check. After they take on c3 take pawn on e4. (Still gambit away the knight on e5) After pawn takes knight, queen to h4 check. Now white is in a whole lot of trouble. If pawn to g3 blocking the check simply take the pawn with knight hitting bishop and the rook. If pawn takes knight on g3 then you take the rook. Again your position now is really good while whites king is in the open. If king to e2 then knight to c3 forking the queen. After king takes knight back. Check with queen on d4 forking the rook. Black is simply just winning at this point. If whites doesn't take knight on c3 with pawn and moves queen to g4 attacking your bishop and pawn on g7. Simply move your bishop to a5. If they push pawn up to b4 to kick away the bishop. Move bishop to b6. If whites queen takes pawn on g7. Then bring queen out and check on h4. Only move for white is d2. Check with queen on d4. After bishop blocks knight to e4 (check). Their bishop is pin and cannot take the knight. Check with queen on f2 and after king to d1. Checkmate with knight on c3. If white doesn't take on g7 first and moves bishop to b2 or d2 to kick away the knight. Take pawn on d5. White would be tempted to take on g7 with queen. If they take follow through with queen to h4 (check). If king to c1 then queen to e1 is checkmate. If king to d2 or e2. It's still checkmate after queen to f2 and then checkmate on c2. This counter gambit opens a lot of pressure onto whites position. There's many more to explain depending on position but it'll be better to make a video instead. Hopefully @GMIgorSmirnov can do one to show you guys. 😅

You can play this from the black side too, it's particularly effective against the Glek system (1.e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. g3.) I've even played the snappily named "doubly reversed halloween gambit in the reversed Glek system of the Gunsberg four knights game" :)
@QZI372 ай бұрын
The difference is that you get the knight back after like 4 moves
@michaelkrailo5725 Жыл бұрын
@7:01 the best move for black is Qxb5, then Bxb5 axb5, Qe2 to hit the pawn. The game is dead even material and position wise after that. Most players won't find that move in the heat of battle though so well worth playing the gambit. @9:00 where black makes the best move of Ng6 and the other knight is forced back, after Bc4 is played, black could play d5 to open up the light-square bishop going to e6 square on the next move or playing c6. Again, most lower elo players won't see that move so the gambit is still worth playing for fun. And no, taking back en-passant won't be good for white as the dark-square bishop takes the pawn back and black can develop their pieces normally with a +2 point advantage. That's how to counter it as black though, in case you were wondering. It's definitely not fun playing black if you don't have a clue so by all means have fun with it. Any time you take material early instead of developing pieces, you run the risk of falling way behind in development. That's exactly what white wants in this gambit. As black you have to figure a way to keep 1 or 2 points and get your development going as soon as possible. A great explanation and example game where black crushes white is shown here: www.chessable.com/blog/halloween-gambit/

When I haven't eaten or slept, my rating usually goes down by about 100 points because I keep getting angry. Then I eat and sleep and wake up refreshed and climb my way back up. Then later on, I usually start the process all over again. 😂 But yeah, this guy is probably the most helpful of all the chess people on KZbin. Significantly better than Gotham Chess who is the one everyone seems to claim is so good. But Levy doesn't do nearly as good a job at teaching the ideas behind moves as this man does. Levy is more of an entertainment channel, not really so good for advanced chess learning.
This is very great Gambit. People are very uncomfortable when they're lack of spaces.

So what's the defense for black? Is it to just avoid opening four knights?
@simplyenglish87557 ай бұрын
The best is play d5 after Bc4, if white take with the bishop then c6 and Bb4, some technical difficulties may occur, but the gambit is dumb and of course absolutely winning for black. The main thing is to put the knight back to g8, if you do this, it's becoming easy to defend, though the black's king may not castle in some variants. White has strong pawn center, but a piece down

I would like to hear your view on why we don´t see the Nesjmetdinov Gambit in the Siesta-variation of the Ruy Lopez played very much. It´s just that I wonder that all the theory I have about it probably wouldn´t have developed if it´s a completely trashy gambit. In that case for example the Englund Gambit wouldn´t have stood a chance.
