DANGEROUS WALL FIXED WITH SBR 💪🏼 WE ARE ON A RETAINING WALL THAT HAS CRACKED, SWELLED AND BECOME UNSAFE.
WE TAKE OFF THE TOP 6 OR 7 COURSES AND HAVE THEM TAKEN AWAY BY OUR PALS AT J NAPIER ON THEIR GRAB WAGON.
WE REPAIR A CORNER THAT HAS PUSHED OUT THEN THE NEXT STEP IS THE COPINGS.
WE USED 3 X 2 UTILITY PAVING SLABS CUT IN HALF DOWN THE LENGTH SO WE HAD 1 FOOT ( 300 MM ) COPINGS.
WE USED AN SBR / CEMENT MIX FOR A SLURRY WHICH WE PAINTED ON THE WALL AND THE COPINGS AND THE LAST 3 HAD TO BE NOTCHED AROUND SOME FENCE POSTS AND A BRICK PILLAR ON THE HOUSE.
A VERY SATISFYING JOB... ENJOY.. WE DID 👍🏽🧱

You guys have made a real difference to that old wall. Hard graft (I've done it) but proper job finish. Incidentally, my wife Helen had her right hip replaced at end of August and already greatly improving . Fingers crossed for yours Steve.... Bob (Weston super Mare)

Another cracking job, looks so much better. I will say though Steve, there's no wonder your hips are shot. Really difficult humping great lumps of concrete around in tight spaces without pushing limbs and joints to the limit. Not sure everyone appreciates how physically difficult your trade is and the personal sacrifices made to get jobs done in good time for customers, like working across weekends. You both deserve medals.

I don't know if it will help in future but I use similar box scaffolding. I find it rocks less if you put a plank on the bottom that fits tight that forces the base out so it is tight. I also bought some cheap lockable wheels from Screwfix/Toolstation and screwed them onto blocks of wood and drilled a hole the same size as the tube so it slots on. I work on my own usually so moving the scaffolding when it is higher is a lot easier.
@SteveAndAlexBuild

Thanks very for the tips . I like both ideas as the rocking does my head in . I spent £100 on adjustable wheels but the diameter was too big to fit in the tubes 😢. I will look into your idea as I definitely want wheels fit it for pointing jobs . Cheers 🤝🏽👍🏽🧱

@@SteveAndAlexBuild Well it looks like Skem to me, with those walkways some with bedrooms above, and no way to get some residents cars adjacent to their houses. This was a common practice in the 1970’s especially in new towns where residents then rented their homes. I know because i lived in one, NOT in Skelmersdale i must add.

I love watching your videos. I’ve just been watching this one where you’ve been doing this brick wall in this alleyway. It doesn’t look good when your son is on the phone all the time and you’re working. You could use a cut out the bits where he’s on his mobile phone all the timeor tell him to stand behind the camera so that no one can see him. It doesn’t look good for your videos.

Hello Chaps, S.B.R or to give it, its chemical name = Styrene - Butadiene - Rubber. It is a synthetic rubber product conceived by the Germans in the 1940`s, and later further developed by "Goodyear" for use in tyres. Construction uses include; as an excellent Primer coat, Admixture, Bonding Agent and sealer. 🧱👍

@@SteveAndAlexBuild "Butadiene," is a possible carcinogen, highly flammable, and in some circumstance potentially explosive. You are right Steve, it is nasty stuff, and full P.PE at all times when using it and never expose your skin to it. 👍👍🚭😧😷🥴

@martin2466

@@danielbutler5799 Have a careful look at the slabs when Steve, is painting them I believe there is a preformed chamfered area on the underside to act as a "water -check." Drip grooves are useful details - and good practice of course but, what are you gaining in this situation? 🧱👍😁
