Small problem, Suarez - which you should know. Immigrants coming from Europe in the late 19th and early 20th century were still divided into "white" and "nonwhite." The Italians, the Greeks, the Slavs, and yes, the Irish were not considered white. My grandfather's passport had his race as Irish. This classification of immigrants goes back over a century and as the new immigrants get established, they too will become "white."
