HD VERSION HERE: • Billy Sheehan, Clint S...
See what happens when three top-notch musicians meet and play together for the first time. dangerousguitar... invited bassist Billy Sheehan, guitarist Clint Strong and drummer Mike Gage to embark on a musical journey together and deliver us something "off the top of their heads." Unscripted... unrehearsed... and uncanny. What they came up with blew our musical minds... and we recorded every second of it.

This is awesome and as for all the discussion about the tones and styles, they probably didn't show up that day to make a jazz record, they just played and this is what happened, it's called fun. My opinion is that good music has no rules.
@glennhynes5263
@glennhynes5263 6 жыл бұрын
Wes Hall good music has tons of rules. U just have to know them before u start breaking them willy nilly. For instance, if Billy just turned up the treble and droned on one open note.....it would not be good. Weird, yes, but good entails knowing alot, and applying that knowledge in a way that will appeal in some way to a listener. If there were no rules, we would all be great musicians all the time.

These are a few of my favourite things.What synchronized exchange between Billy and the guitar player Clint ,who definitely got Steve Howe in his influences.This trio is red hot sizzlin! And I hear Chris Squire in that compressed crunch of Sheehan!Man ,these cats are circling and weaving up in the stratosphere! I swear, I can feel each instrument "communicating ".These guys are all TOP LISTENERS.This is crucial for the improvised sections,so everyone has a marker (sonic)4 reference so the transition is seamless.Bravissimmo!

I like how Billy opens up. At times he sounds like he's playing with a bow, almost Hendrixy. I hear a lot of Lenny Breau in Clint's single note lines, so fluid and inventive. Thy're like kids on a playground, following, playing off each other. Lightning reflexes, almost telepathic.

Clint can play anything superbly. Years ago, he came to Tallahassee with Merle & sat in with me 4 nights at a small hotel lounge. No one knows the frets better. His main early influence was Howard Roberts, a friend of the family. Manic metal commentators are out of their depth here.

@Jeffrey W It is a song from The Sound of Music, made more popular by the legendary saxophone player named John Coltrane: The Sound of Music-My Favorite Things Listen to the melody they played in the beginning and you should hear, that it is the same song. I will say though, with no intention to insult their playing here, I don't really think, that they did the song justice.
