As a beginner game dev, it’s surprisingly easy to make a game like this, or like the “destroy cubes” shapes he played recently. Seeing how polished these games are, however, is very impressive. Without pre-made engine, the basics mechanics of games like these are surprisingly easy to code, but all the smaller touches (like glow, exp behavior, and especially the animation/behavior of some of the upgrades, like the scythe) can easily require just as much code as the gameplay features themselves. I doubt the game would be half as dopamine-inducing as it is now without all those touches, yet so many of them are easily overlooked.

you should play Loopstructor, it is a roguelike autobattler where you build a train that attacks hordes of enemies as it goes around the loop that you created for it. There are all kinds of synergies, upgrades, and strategies that make it very interesting. Love the vid as always DF ❤❤❤❤❤
