Why do you pray for the souls of the dead? Its too late. A person has chances only when he is alive. Whatever person does on earth while alive, defines his destiny. After death, there is no way back. @@tatyanaz5622 well the big difference is found in that Catholics have 73 Books and Protestants only acknowledge 66 Books. We get praying for souls in Purgatory from 2nd Maccabees. The Deuter canonical Books, or as Protestants refer to them the Apocrypha, were actually in the Bible until the 19th Century. Even the Original King James Version included these books. It was a publishing company that wanted to cut cost that ultimately decided to exclude them. Especially since Martin Luther had been insisting that they don't belong in the Bible since the 16th Century. Although he also thought James and Revelations needed to be thrown out. So one must always consider the source.

I watched the documentary. I was surprised that it was based on a real event and the boy came from a Christian family. When they called in their pastor he sent them to the Catholic church. When you have to fight the devil you bring in the big guns, you go to a Catholic priest. Sone dioceses have a resident exorcist.

I think it's because up until really the turn of the millennium most people thought all this pagan stuff was dead and gone or that the new age stuff is just quack metaphysics that would go away if left on its own. But now it is becoming increasingly clear that it is not going away anytime soon and the Church does need to take a more assertive stance against it.

The way I've began to understand it is with a healthy analogy. The Sacraments are like working out and eating healthy, where as Exorcism is like an emergency surgery. Having a good healthy life style will make you body strong enough to battle against disease or infection while emergency surgery is like in the worst case scenario when the disease has a grip on you already and you have no other option

A protestant wrote a book showing the false claims and twisting of Scripture in his book; Another Jesus Calling by Warren B. Smith. Thank you for this KZbin Video. I believe I needed to see this. I converted to the Catholic faith in 2013 and I was baptised and confirmed during the Easter vigil. Before my conversion, I was heavily involved in the occult, but this year has been exceedingly challenging with stress after stress (nothing to do with Covid) and I have found myself attracted to the occult in order to shape my reality. I see no visible signs of help from God and I feel spiritually barren. I pray every day to God, I pray the rosary daily and I attend church, but I am losing hope. Please pray for me friend.

The same has been happening to me; I attended Mass 4-5 days a week and prayed the Rosary 1-2 times per day. I attend a Latin Mass on Sunday. I went to confession every week or every 2 weeks and tried to go to Eucharistic Adoration for 1 hour per week. I haven't done any of that since September 8th and I am also struggling with my faith now too. I never thought that I'd miss a day without saying the Rosary or miss Mass ever again but I find myself really struggling now as well and it's pretty disheartening.

@@capecodder04 Our primary weapon in spiritual warfare is the Word of God. God speaking to us through the Bible. The sacraments have some value, but we should not be placing our faith in them. Be sure that you're putting your faith in Christ's finished work.

It makes sense as to why astrology would be considered occult but I never knew it was condemned by Catholics, I wish we learned more about this topic in religious ed and the dangers of it. I've seen astrology posts online about different zodiac signs and found it interesting. I don't know much about the dates and how they correlate with the moon and what not, all I know is that it does have to do with moon cycles. I will definitely be beginning to cutting off my curiosity to horoscopes. I was always very scared to use a ouija board and am glad I've never used them.

I made some STUPID mistakes when I was younger. Astrology, crystals, etc. all for "harmless fun". Then I get serious and work on my relationship with Jesus/God and become a devout Catholic. Well for a while I've been having very intrusive, unwanted and often terrible thoughts while I pray. ONLY when I pray. I went to reconciliation and told the priest. He asked me about any contact with the occult, ouija boards, astrology, etc. I told him what I'd done. Now they want me to bring to them anything that I still have in my possession (old astrology book, etc.). The priest also said a special prayer over me refuting the spirit and telling it to leave my body. I also asked Jesus for help with this because it's been driving me nuts. That was over a week ago and I am doing better. Far fewer bad/intrusive thoughts and so far I feel much more confident while praying. Thank you, Lord!

This is similar to my story as well. About a decade ago, I foolishly through away the faith for the promises of modern secularism. During that period, I started dabbling in occultist and sometimes even outright Satanic practices. Only around Christmastime last year in 2020, I realized that everything I had been chasing merely made me miserable, and returned to the faith, but not long after these very same feelings that you describe came. The norms for fasting (1 regular meal and 2 small meals that do not equal a regular meal) in the Latin Catholic Church are for ages 18-59. However we are only obligated to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. The norms for Friday abstinence (refrain from eating meat or another suitable self chosen penance) is from age 14 and up. It applies to every Friday of the year.

Christians should never celebrate Halloween. Especially make their kids part of the celebration. Kids have very fragile nervous system, they have very tender hearts, they get scared really easily. They are very vulnerable to the spiritual world. Kids can have nervous outbreaks after encountering the unclean spirits. Its very dangerous to let kids participate in something devilish. Kids can have depression, anger outbreaks, crying spells... long after the incident.. Unclean spirits can have control over kids and force them to be out of control. When kids brains and hearts are damaged like that, its very hard to make them normal. Only God can heal such kids. Parents need to go to a church that is in very close relationship with Jesus Christ. They need to ask a pastor to anoint their kids with oil and pray over them in the name of Jesus Christ and God will heal their kids, and make them calm. The Holy Spirit of God will be protecting such kids from everything evil, but parents have to stop forcing their kids to participate in gruesome holidays. Hallow is a root of Halloween. Hallow means to honor as holy, as sacred, to make holy, basically... to worship Only God is Holy, only God is sacred, only God can be worshipped. "Our FATHER in heaven, HALLOWED be YOUR name..." Mathew 6:9 When people celebrate dressing up in devilry, in unclean spirits , and in all sorts of demonic creatures, they DISHONOR GOD. When they decorate their houses with all sorts of abominations, clothe themselves and their children in the costumes of posessed spirits, they DO NOT HALLOW the name of GOD. Such people voluntarily worship devil and let the demonic spirits into their homes and in their families. If a person desires and finds attractive blood, gruesome images, murder, death, magic, horror movies, sorcery, divination, witchcraft , wizardry, and such....that person DISHONORS GOD. Those who participate in evil, WILL NOT inherit the Kingdom of God. When people celebrate Halloween, they DISHONOR GOD'S NAME and give honor to devil. In other words; they sacrifice their money, their time, their interests, their kids and their families to devil. Their heart desires are with devilish and spiritually unclean things. They participate in pagan idolatry. "Abstain from every form of evil." 1 Thessalonians 5:28 "Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them." Ephesians 5:11 ""You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. What is the Church's attitude to 'entertainment magic', 'stage magic' [aka conjuring]? This does not even pretend to be anything other than illusionary, but children may not recognise that. On another subject, if you are a Catholic parent and your children feel left out by not being allowed to celebrate Halloween. Why not have a family All Saints Day party instead, the next day. However do not allow this to keep you away from Mass on All Saints as it is a Holyday of Obligation unless it falls on a Saturday or a Monday. You could even leave you All Saints Party until the following Saturday, but do not celebrate it before All Saints Day in order to make it perfectly clear that you are not celebrating Halloween. [It may also be inappropriate to have a Party on Nov 2, All Souls Day, but for a different reason].

No to horoscopes, tarot cards, palm readers, lucky charms, etc. I didn't think there was anything wrong with these things until I started reading the Bible and read that God hates these things. Then I started hearing testimonies of ex-witches and ex-satanists who talk about the dangers of all these practices.

Yes, they are acceptable. Especially when our minds lie to us regarding the truth of who we are. But many times also turn it to Jesus and say things like, You are enough for me. You make me strong. You can make me holy. You love me. You love what you see when you look at me. You treat me as your princess as the apple of your eye. When you look down on me you smile. You don't love my sin but you love me, your daughter. You are always here for me. etc.

If God is omniscient and knows all things then why does he create people knowing that they are going to choose hell. Why would he expect that person to do good when he knew before he even created them that they were going to choose evil. It’s like letting a criminal burst into your front door knowing they will come in and kill your entire family. Why don’t you just not let them in that way you prevent the evil from happening. This is the problem with Christianity because it promotes a very limited geocentric notion of the Universe and completely dismisses anything that doesn’t fit within its prehistóricas paradigm. I’m born and raised Catholic but I’m just tired of the same old “it’s a mystery” like when people don’t have answers to these questions which clearly stem from a flawed theology. Also why would The Infinite Almighty God leave the eternal destiny of Mankind up to faith in revelation that occurred thousands of years ago. That doesn’t seem to promote the notion that God wants clarity and not confusion. Yea miracles do occur for Catholicism but so there are others for other religions and instances which cannot be explained by science. Someone please respond and try to your best without saying it’s all one big mystery

Well it’s not just a mystery. It’s God’s giving everyone a chance to redeem themselves. Everyone has free will and God tests everyone to make sure that they are doing what they freely choose to do. God allows evil so that he can know who truly loves him and follows him. It is us that choose to deny him and go to hell. God was very hurt when satan decided what he did and took other angels with him. satan didn’t want to be serving humans because we are made in the image and likeness of God. He wants to be God. So he has the sins of vanity, pride and deceitfulness to say the least. I hope that you will say the Saint Gertrude Chaplet and the Divine Mercy Chaplet everyday because I have seen these Chaplet besides the holy rosary change many evil peoples lives. Early Christianity was heavily influenced by the "occult". You can be a Catholic and practice esoteric beleifs. The veneration of saints is a prime example. Just because you practice these things doesn't mean that you worship the devil. You can practice occult rituals to invoke guardian angels who are more than willing to help you in your spiritual journey. We all have a divine spark of the creator in us, most of these practices are attempting to meditate or pray on that divinity in everyone and find the hidden truths within us. There are charlatans on both sides. God, the creator, YHVH, Elohim, whatever you want to call it is within all of us, you don't need anyone else to tell you what to believe.

Sitting back watching horror movies and vegging out in front of the TV is fine. Halloween parties, if done tastefully are fine as well. Oh the same lie that was shoved into my head when I was young. This made me accept astrology.... gradually I found myself referring to astrology for everything and eventually other occult practices were easier to accept until I started feeling the presence of someone around me and it was dark. It came on and off. After a year or so, I had a dream in which I was clearly adviced to go back to the church. My reversion started then and subsequently I was delivered from this thing. I have a friend who will often say he is superstitious. I tell him if he is a Christian, he shouldn't be superstitious. He just keeps quiet. I told him once that the Bible says God hates superstition (you are putting these other things above God). His response was that he didn't care. I'd like to add my perspective, if that is ok. I have used Tarot decks personally for a long time, strictly as a reflection tool for self-growth. I don't believe any magical powers exist in the cards. Surprisingly, you will find a lot of Christian imagery in Tarot decks, from crosses, to angels, to even clear depictions of Judgment Day and souls being raised to God. There are also cards that list virtues such as Temperance. In other words, there are a lot of cards in the Tarot that I think Satan (if he existed) would not want a reader thinking about, as there is too much of a risk of that person being drawn to thinking about the state of their soul. Even the depiction of the Devil in Tarot is very scary as well...nobody would be drawn or allured into wanting to communicate with "that" entity. In fact, the Christian symbolism is so rampant in Tarot that a lot of modern Tarot decks have attempted to remove it. In my opinion, if there is a real Devil, he is walking among Wall Street, the rich and powerful, those who despise the weak, or those who create war and real suffering. He's not found in a pack of cards with illustrations on them. This is just my opinion. Have a good day.

Why would satan make himself look like a wall street business man? Because that is a safe, trustworthy, successful, authoritative, look on him. That is why pagan and new age ideologies adopt Christian images and themes. It draws people in, it makes them feel safe and comfortable, it’s familiar, appears authoritative and trustworthy. But those images and themes do not mean that it is good for you or safe. It is not the cards themselves that are the problem. You are right in that they do not hold any power….but it is the person’s use of those cards, because they are not from God (they are not putting their trust in God but in themselves or the cards), that opens a person up to bad spirits. Why wouldn’t a bad spirit want to appear as innocent as a businessman in order to fool someone? There are many other, holy, means of improving oneself in virtue that don’t involve the occult. The devil doesn’t want people to think he exists. That way he can fool more people…it is occupation. In that way, he is like a businessman.
