Al Tabari mentionne in one of his book ' Prophets and Patriachs ' vol 2, p. 73 if I'm not mistaken the page, that The Amalekites lived near by Mecca, if you look in the Bible, they were living at Mount Seir, and this is near by Petra ! no doubt it my mind, Petra is the first Mecca and Muhammad while traveling was worshiping towards Petra !

I think it's hard to study religious history and be a spiritual person because you can study the spirituality right out of it.
