Danica will succeed over time when she gets a proper sponsor, as great as godaddy.com is it just isn't enough for her to win, godaddy.com could stick with her but perhaps be delegated to a secondary sponsor or a minor sponsor, she needs to understand that it is not her fault related to her struggles but if she stick with it and she is awarded with a proper opportunity with a proper sponsor she will finish higher but you can't put the cart ahead of the horse as they say, we are just now leaving one of the worst recessions in US history, now is not the time to give up in fact the opposite is true, I know that she can do it but she is in need of a proper sponsor, I know I am repeating myself but it is true, she is incredibly talented but her car is not strong enough throughout the length of the race, this is because she does not have the proper backing, it's just a fact of the matter, that is why you see the Darrell Waltrips and Dale Jrs and Kevin Harvick using Budweiser as a sponsor, it's simply a proper sponsor, they don't want you do die from alcohol poisoning or they don't want you to get a DUI but they want to win, and that is the only way to do it, end of story. My opinion is is that she is entitled to the TARGET sponsorship and that would be ten steps higher than godaddy.com.

As a women who grew up with and loves NASCAR, I can't say I disagree with what he said. She was something new and exciting when she first began racing in the cup series, but I don't think she has lived up to the hype. Sometimes I question her passion and talent when compared to other drivers. Right now she seems more concerned about her image and her clothing line. Kyle was just saying what a lot of people are thinking and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. She's got the speed, but she needs to learn how to be a race car driver. Just because she's a woman doesn't mean she's free from criticism.

I have zero problems with female race car drivers.....IF they are good enough and get there on merit. Danica proved time and time again in NASCAR that she was way out of her depth, or at least way out of her comfort zone. She came from open wheel racing where drivers try not to hit other cars and chased the big dollars in NASCAR where the unofficial motto of "Rubbing is Racing" is a real thing and I don't think she ever came to terms with the fact that the stock car boys didn't mind swapping paint.....or wrecking someone else if it got them a win. Don't get me wrong, she does have talent and you don't lead the Indy 500 by being a mug. But for mine she makes a much better open wheel driver where the other drivers tend to be a bit less inclined to rub wheels.

Interesting to hear Kyle referring to his dad as "The King". And for anyone comparing Kyle's NASCAR career to Danica's......Kyle didn't wreck as many cars in his entire career as she has. He won races and placed highly in numerous others. Sure he may not be as good as his dad was, or even as good as his grandfather, but he was and still is a better race driver than Danica is and possibly will be. I hate to say it for sounding sexist but if Danica Patrick wasn't a female driver there is no way she would have made it out of the lower racing categories such as Formula Ford. Kyle Petty won 8 races, sure, but 6 of those were with jumpstart SABCO Racing, which had no drivers besides Petty until 1993 when they got _Kenny Wallace_ onto the 40 car. The other 2 wins Petty got? With the Wood Brothers in the mid-80's, after the team suffered the loss of David Pearson and had middling success with its other drivers, having a 2-year drought before Petty brought them back to victory lane. In the 30 years since Petty left, the Wood Brothers have won a combined total of 4 races across 4 different drivers, one of those being a plate race at Daytona. Let me also remind you of some NASCAR champs with less wins than Petty: -Alan Kulwicki, 1992 champion, raced in the same era as Petty. 5 wins. -Bill Rexford, 1950 champion. Won one race total the same year as his championship. -Red Byron, 1949 champion. Won two races in 1949 en route to the champion, none after. Kyle might not have been the greatest driver, but Danica has nothing on him.

However thats still pretty solid, when you take into account that Kyle Petty never competed in "top-notch" equipment at any point in his career. The best equipment he ever raced in was for Felix Sabates for SABCO Racing, and they were never much to brag about ... Kyle managed two Top 5 finishes in the final point standing with them in 92 and 93 (5 Top 10 finishes in the final point standings overall in his career). Also, in regards to his "only 8 wins" ... look at the type of wins he has. He has 3 Rockingham wins, which has always been a difficult racetrack to win on. Two of his wins there, he dominated - leading 433 of 492 in one (in 90'), and 484 of 492 in the other (in 92') ... one win on a Road Course (Watkins Glen) ... one win on a short track (Richmond) ... and he has one "crown jewel" race win in his career, winning the Coca-Cola 600. Wins at Pocono and Dover ain't bad either. He is absolutely correct in everything he has ever said about Danica. Danica was nothing more than a marketing ploy to get more attention into NASCAR, especially when it came to the female audience as at that time, there really wasn't a big female demographic that watched or paid any attention to NASCAR. She was brought in as nothing more than a "pretty face" to help boost that demographic. Thats all fine and well, but it doesn't matter if you dont 'perform on the track. She was an atrocious stock car driver, and if you ever watch the majority of the wrecks she was in (and there were A LOT), a good portion of them were her own fault. Even wrecks that weren't her fault and she easily could have avoided, she wound up in anyway because she never learned from her mistakes. She also pointed the finger a lot and never took responsibility for her mistakes ... there have been many stores out there, about how she treated her team and crew, and it doesnt paint a good picture about her. Once she was done and Aric Almirola was put in that same car ... the fact that he won a few races in that equipment (at Talladega and Loudon), and was actually pretty decent and competitive in that same car, also simultaneously showcased just how bad (or even WORSE) Danica really was.

I think Kyle exaggerated the point to make a point, if that makes sense. All you really need to ask is this: Is there anybody else running in a lesser ride in Cup, running in NNS, or running in Trucks - how could do a better job for a championship-calibre Cup team like SHR? The answer is emphatically YES. Doesn't matter if you're male or female. If you're running for a championship-calibre team like SHR and you can't make anything happen, then you are wasting one of the premium seats. Whether Kyle Petty was a good driver or not (he DID win 8 races), he has LIVED NASCAR racing all his life. He's seen seen everything, from his Dad getting banged up in wrecks, to losing his son to a NASCAR crash. It's likely he only drove as long as he did because Adam got killed before he was ready to become the family's lead driver. If anyone is entitled to his opinion, it is Kyle Petty IMO

Kyle has 8 career wins over 829 starts, won his last race in 1994, but raced up until 2009. Kyle was not in anyway a good driver, especially with the racing blood he has. He started racing Stock at age 18. She made her stock debut at age 30. She had a big learning curve too. Keep in mind, Kyle Petty has some wins under his belt as a race car driver. 8 wins to be exact but he had is best seasons in the early 90's with two top five in the "Winston Cup" point standings. In 1992 & 1993, granted he is not as great as the King was but he does have the right to say what he said about Danica. I do respect her but she does have a long way to go to cut in in the Nextel Cup series. She does qualify well but if she can post some good finishes, she'll be more of a competitor.

Patrick has openly admitted she can drive a car, but she doesn’t know anything about them. She doesn’t know anything about the technical side of autoracing. That’s a big part of why she was unsuccessful. If you’re in a sport for so long and you don’t know 80% of that sport, it means you’re not open to learning, or you think you’re too good to be taught. She definitely didn’t learn how to race, or she would have done much better. She much preferred the victim stance. It was easier and it worked every time.

I'm not here to knock Danica, and I understand the importance of winning Daytona for any cup driver; however winning at a superspeedway nowhere near proves a drivers potential compared to other tracks on the circuit. At Daytona, any mediocre driver with good combination of hp, luck, and judgment, can run well and/or win - Michael Waltrip, David Gililand, Trevor Bayne...just to name a few. Danica would have to win at any other type track to truly prove herself; or at least consistant top 10's

Kyle Petty was a solid racecar driver. Was he an "all-time great"? Of course not ... He only has 8 wins. However thats still pretty solid, when you take into account that Kyle Petty never competed in "top-notch" equipment at any point in his career. The best equipment he ever raced in was for Felix Sabates for SABCO Racing, and they were never much to brag about ... Kyle managed two Top 5 finishes in the final point standing with them in 92 and 93 (5 Top 10 finishes in the final point standings overall in his career). Also, in regards to his "only 8 wins" ... look at the type of wins he has. He has 3 Rockingham wins, which has always been a difficult racetrack to win on. Two of his wins there, he dominated - leading 433 of 492 in one (in 90'), and 484 of 492 in the other (in 92') ... one win on a Road Course (Watkins Glen) ... one win on a short track (Richmond) ... and he has one "crown jewel" race win in his career, winning the Coca-Cola 600. Wins at Pocono and Dover ain't bad either.

I grew up watching Nascar in the early 2000's and i remember many races where Kyle was 35th or lower and i could be wrong but i dont ever remember him driving up to the front and leading one lap under green (Not from a pit strategy) Hes one to talk about talent...

Kyle Petty had 170 or so top ten finishes in his long Winston Cup career. He wasn't one of the superstars like Earnhart or Waltrip or Elliott but he was one of the best 35 race car drivers in the world to earn a ride for over 800 races during his very successful career. He had 9 top Winston Cup Top Tens in 15 races when he was 20. His bona fides are indisputable. But, he stated an opinion and that's heresy to the many Danica Patrick cultists.

Kyle really wasn't that bad of a driver. A lot of people forget that he had a shot at the championship coming into the final race of the 1992 season, and he finished 5th in that year and the next if I'm not mistaken. A lot of people say Kyle Pretty wasn't good because they compare him to Richard Petty. No, Kyle is nowhere near the racecar driver that Richard Petty was. But he was pretty good in the early 90s, maybe could have been better in the late 90s with some better equipment.

I met Kyle back in ' 88 in Rockingham, NC when they used to race at " The Rock ". Now days, that track sits empty. Why they quit racing there, I have no clue. Kyle seemed like a nice guy back then, not sure why he's judging Danica though. Yes, she's a girl in Nascar but i'm one that likes to give someone a chance to prove their self.
