I remember Damon Hill ( F1 champion for those who don’t know ) said on old Top Gear that when you race cars for a living you don’t feel the need to own a fast car since you are already going 170 mph for your job

I cannot say much about her since I never followed her races but A LOT of racing drivers don't give a damn about cars. They just race as a job in one discipline and that's it. Especially at very high level, like F1. That's why its always massively cringy seeing race drivers invited to promote a car or a brand or give an opinion because of their name even though mostly they are useless at that and don't get whats going on and just give a standard marketing answer.

It seems quite obvious, but I'll say it anyway: knowing your way around the inner workings of cars can be very, very beneficial if you're a racing driver. At the very least you need to know what's going on in order to share your thoughts with the race engineer and mechanics on how you need your car set up for a certain scenario.

@Ernest George No, auto racing data absolutely proves she isn't. Michelle Mouton won a ton of WRC events and came a hairs breath from winning the whole championship. Pat Moss also won and podiumed in numerous top level rallies. Jutta Kleinschmidt won Paris--Dakar. Lella Lombardi was competitive in F1 and won multiple World Sportscar races, as did Desiree Wilson. Lilian Bryner won repeatedly in FIA GT. And there have been several champion female drag racers.

This was a really nice view into Danica's mind. Now I know that she is genuinely not a car person, is super narcissistic, and is essentially just an advertising ploy for her race team. She always causes a wreck, which I guess is good for TV, but she doesn't finish better than 10th if she even finishes. I've defended her for years, doing well in a world where she's got an uphill battle, but I guess she just doesn't care to be better. She doesn't care to learn more about cars, doesn't care to be into the actual sport that provides her a living, she just wants to milk it for the money her face can make her.

Very few women even act like cars have engines. They treat the gas pedal like a button on an electric car instead of understanding that it's a plunger pump. No consideration for holding the idea that what she's doing is injecting fuel into a complex engine that mixes the fuel and air and ignites a spark that drives pistons. Just push pedal car go vroom. My wife drives the hell out of our cars. If it was a horse they would be not feeding it, riding it at top speed and whipping it until it drops dead then ask you to buy another one because this one had something wrong with it.

How do you think race car drivers act? Almost every racecar driver i've ever seen is chill, humble, and white.
@judemiller6 жыл бұрын
+Franken Peter Yeah, it's definitely a bias I had in my brain, I recognize that. I dunno, I guess I expected more energy, or a different type of energy from someone that does something so intense for a living. Although, the fighters and other adrenaline junkies Rogan's interviewed were generally chill as well. Oh well, lesson learned.

She's doing a good job of not mentioning that for a lot of people, the ego is involved with their choice of car. I can't say "penis substitute" because people of both sexes prefer a car to be fast and powerful. Status is the obvious answer, but cars are so much of our culture that many - like Danica, just want a useful reliable ride, and don't even care much what it is.

It very hard to race when you don't know every single piece of your car. You need an intamate relationship with your machine.

I'm a pilot, and I'd NEVER say, "I have no idea how this plane works, I just fly it." Granted, I don't fix it, but I know everything about it. Maybe being a professional driver is different.

Rogan acting so surprised. It's no different then a Pro Fighter who doesn't like watching fights. Cerrone, Velasquez, and others don't follow MMA they just show up to fight. Same with her

She'd get destroyed by any truck driver when it comes to burning fuel for a living.
@MrSirFluffy6 жыл бұрын
You'd be surprised the amount of fuel stock cars waste. It's not even normal fuel, it's more concentrated. And they burn through entire tanks several times in a race. Plus in practice as well, and those cars they race around with are transported via Trailer/Truck haha
@raztubes6 жыл бұрын
MrSirFluffy Oh I'm sure it's a lot. But compare that with a big rig driving 7 days a week for long stretches, and we have a diff ball game. Then again, those guys actually move the stuff we need. She just does it to entertain.

It's fun to care about nonsense.
@MrSirFluffy6 жыл бұрын
Racecar drivers do it daily as well. Also you have to consider that since race-cars are using more horsepower at higher speeds, they are using vastly more fuel. Not only more fuel per minute, but more concentrated high octane fuel. They burn through that stuff like crazy. Also, entertainment is a commodity. just like any other stuff.
