DANIEL AND SCHOOL

Wednesday September 7, 2016 Daniel is in his first week at Newtown High School. The change is very overwhelming, and he's tired, but seems to be doing ok. I had to go to a PPT which I requrested to stress that Daniel requires educational assistance separate from the nursing care. They are not one in the same and shouldn't be assumed to be so. Daniel is really fragile and needs the nurse to watch his medical state. The nurses are not trained to be educators and vice versa. Anyhow. The meeting went ok. Just really stressful, and I worry about him alot.

my youngest daughter got a new spec.ed teacher this year...i had anxiety about it...i called and met with him before school started and so far it has been going good,i am her advocate...hope u have a great day Julie

I'm so glad that everything is working out with school. Daniel looked pretty happy after school. I'm also happy that Daniel is making friends. You're such a good mom, making sure school is perfect for him.

I "love" hearing that the school reps are an expert in my child, and "only" has Autism and Intellectual Disability. He's not medically fragile like your Daniel. We are our child's biggest advocate.

I was the first child in a wheelchair who attended the same public school that my sister and brother were going. The school hired my mom as a teacher's aide so she could take of my personal care. I wasn't too thrilled having my mom in my class. By the way this school had special Ed classes also.

You are welcome. Please put yourself first, so you can continue to love your family. You work super hard, and I have been a one on one in the school system, and a teacher assistant, so I do understand. Computer Operations and Instructor was my main job, but I have been a programmer, systems analyst etc. I have taught English to Spanish speakers, and was 61, when I finished my B.S. I am retired and will be 74 next month, but believe, I know the hard work it is in caring for a family, and watching those with special children. God has a special place in heaven for the selfless caregivers, like you. Stay blessed always family.❤️💯😊🇺🇸💐

My youngest daughter (4) was just asking about Daniel and how he is doing. She sometimes watches what I am watching and just thought about him out of the blue the other day. :) We hope he adjusts well to the school.

Will do!! She is most concerned about if he is getting enough food to eat. :) She saw the video when he wasn't feeling well and you were talking about his formula. I showed her this and she was happy!
