I read the original Black and White, which was in Dutch, and I considered it the most honest chess book I have ever read. I felt that one can only write such a book when there is no ego involved anymore. Today I ordered 'Mindful Chess' and 'Terug in het strijdperk' and I am looking forward to them. Thanx to both of you for the interview.

I learned from the wikipedia that Paul van der Sterren used to play for Caissa, which is pretty close to where I am living. I have to admit that I was not familiar with his name, but I was very impressed by the interview, and will buy his book Mindful Chess.

Great interview Daniel ! A couple of weeks ago from NIC shop I bought the book in Black and White , unfortunately not the hard cover book for my fault ( I wanted the signed book ), but I really appreciate your interview and dialogue with Paul really inspiring. And I would like to ask you Daniel if you got the opportunity, one day , to review a book from Senior International Master Mike Read. He has a particular story behind. He wrote 110 Instructive Chess Annotations which is like Paul's book a personal insight with no use of engines in his annotations.

I practised mindfulness during a tournament. I listened to the sounds of people shuffling, coughing, the sounds of chairs creaking. I watched the patterns of light through the windows. Then my opponent leaned over and told me I'd lost on time.
