Botez was basically forced to give a fake apology to Hikaru in fear of getting “cancelled”. Hikaru is aware of all of this and he let it all happen. He is not a victim of his management.

Additionally, when you act like a complete piece of shit for over a decade to people IRL you don't get to then cry foul and play the victim when it suits the current public image you are trying to present. People should be going WAY harder on Hikaru in my opinion because I don't see where he has suffered any negative consequences for his actions from the professional chess community or from the global chess community more broadly. He is a manipulative person who has gained a lot of power and has a fragile ego. That is an extremely dangerous combination, and it almost always leads to abusive lopsided power dynamics.

@@keshavy1189 that game was just the push that let out all the past shit he had done. Small drama started between Hikaru and Eric. Eric's video of Hikaru beig salty got viral. Everyone started making fun of Hikaru for his double standards and childish behaviour. Hikaru was pissed off and copystriked Eric's video instead of requesting Eric to take the video down. That strike was threatening to his KZbin channel as it could get deleted it he gets over now, started affecting livelihood of Eric in other words. Drama started to get serious since it was now affecting business side of things. Eric spoke up; others started speaking up about their previous experiences with Hikaru and chessbae and how they abuse their power to cover up their toxicity and do things as they wish. A lot of GMs starts to expose Hikaru and chessbae's real toxic personality as well (Ben finegold gave a good statement, apparently he knows Hikaru from age 8 or something. He was toxic and a jealous cunt from day one and most GM's apparently hate him for his shitty behaviour) which lead to a lot of fans knowing the truth and turning against him. IMO Hikaru deserves the hate.

To be fair, there are vey very few people who are as close to Magnus in skill as Hikaru. Yeah, he has his moments of arrogance. Like, way too many... but other than like Fabi, Ding, Nepo, maybe Levon, So and Vishy, Hikaru is definitely the closest. Had he secured a draw against Ding in the candidates, he'd be competing for the world championship after taking a rather long absence from classical chess. One move prevented him from challenging for the world championship... Much like Bobby Fischer was an antisemitic, misogynist person, over the board he was one one of the best to ever do it. Hikaru can be kind of a douche, but I don't think he's an awful human. and regardless, he's still one of the best over the board.

they didnt steal anything. it was a few highlights where hikaru and chessbrah had double cameras up so you could see both eric and hikaru in the same screen, talking and so on. in one of the games, eric offered a draw, with 5 seconds on the clock, hikaru made a move and so the draw offer was cancelled, a few moves later hikaru offered a draw and eric had already started premoving and so he didnt react to it. in the end eric won on time and flagged hikaru in a drawn position, and hikaru is now salty about being flagged. chessbae/ hikaru took it upon themselves to then claim chessbrah stole content etc etc even though it is classed as fair use. Also chessbae being a moderator for a lot of the big channels on twitch, she could manipulate where the viewers went and for the past few months, completely ignored chessbrah, even though contractually they should have had an equal claim to the "raids" to grow all chesscom associated channels so much to it than just a copyright claim, which in itself is ridiculous and is more out of spite than anything else
