One of the best comparison demonstrations out there. 👏🏻 Thank you

I really loved this video. I didn't notice the music until I looked at the other comments. I have no problem of mixing music and artmaking.

I’ve been struggling to find a true iridescent paint or even ink. Like a translucent, color shifting pink and blue with bits of orange and yellow. Like the clear iridescent Mylar “tissue paper” (more of a thin plastic gift wrap). You also see some accessories made from it, often in places like Claire’s. I’ve even seen it in a textured snake print. THAT kind of iridescent. I don’t know why manufacturers think they can get away with calling shimmery and pearlescent products iridescent, or calling iridescent products holographic. Makes shopping for those products a real challenge, and makes me trust those brands less when I see them labeling their products inaccurately.

I agree with your definition of iridescent, which means color shifting with the angle of light. You might find the duochrome paints fit your definition better - but there isn't a pink/blue one like you describe, just darks.

now i'm wondering what happens when/if you use them over light or graded washes or if you glaze with or on top of them. i cna't find any information on that so i guess i'll have to do it myself... in ten years when i can get my hands on them from what i heard on this video i think you might like the duochrome hibiscus or (ironnically) mauve

So luminescent is metallic, interference is iridescent in layman’s terms?

I have a question unrelated to watercolor. What is the name of the green paint on your walls? I love it. I've also enjoyed your watercolor videos about the interference paint and watercolor grounds. Thanks for sharing them!

😂😂😂 So funny! I love this color too...but I can't remember the name just now. I'll have to poke around the garage and look for the can. Give me a couple days and I'll get back to you! ♥️

I found it! Benjamin Moore 480 Lilly Pad. Here is is online: www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/color-overview/find-your-color/color/480/lily-pad?color=480. I love this color so much, I painted 3 rooms with it!!

@@ArtontheBrain Thank you! Even the paint name is great. On another note, I just ordered some gold grounds and interference watercolor today. I can't wait to try them out.

@@ArtontheBrain Can’t lie I was loving the wall-green too! My rooms currently this UGLY Burnt Pumpkin Orange and I’m ready for a change (I’m not the biggest fan of yellows and oranges. Plus every picture I ever take in here makes my skin look red bc the orange bounces off my vampire-pale skin) Thank you for sharing both the iridescent paints and that lovely wall paint!

Thanks for the video! The music is beautiful. But for the people who don't understand why it's an issue for some--people with hearing difficulties or people on the autism spectrum can have an almost impossible time hearing the talking through the music, especially if the music volume is above very low--our brains just can't process and filter the speech through it. Artistic pursuits attract a higher percentage of people on the spectrum, and that's probably why it's not uncommon to see comments about "loud" music in art tutorials/demos.

Very nice vid thanks. I mix these paint into normal liquid water colors and then get the sheen from them when they dry. Cheers.

Thanks! I do that sometimes too...this was just easier to show the effect on video 🙂

What would the affect be if you laid down an interference paint and then used a very transparent watercolor over it? I would like to try to paint a humming bird with some subtle sheen and your current demonstrations seem as if it would be to over powering.
@ArtontheBrain6 жыл бұрын
John Cooley Hi John! That's a great question. Of course, for the video, I try to show as much luminescent effect as possible, so that you can see it best. But if you want less luminescent effect, I would mix the interference paint with your watercolor until you get the right sheen. A layer of transparent watercolor over the luminescent paint probably won't knock it down enough. Make sure to mix the luminescent paint in a different container way from your main palette, or you'll get a luminescence in your other paint.

Thanks. Now I know those colors are not for me. PrimaTeks were too dull in color (mostly). This saved some money.😁👍👍👍

I would've agreed with you, until I saw that their real value was in their granulation & their very "galaxy/oceanscape" possibilities. Here Dr. Oto even shows how beautifully the Primateks combine: kzbin.info/www/bejne/poK4fIablJt3hKc

@ArtontheBrain5 жыл бұрын
Sorry about that! I've gotten a few comments about that. Not sure if I can fix it after the fact. But I am turning the music down on all newer videos. I think it actually differs from device to device, because I have no problems hearing the narration on this end. I'm just an amateur videographer doing my best! ♥️
@jademail774 жыл бұрын
@@ArtontheBrain I would just leave the music off unless you are painting and not talking. It's not needed and makes it much harder to listen to. Otherwise I love your videos!!
@anniedarkhorse67912 жыл бұрын
Why do people insist on putting musical backgrounds on videos where they are talking? It's just annoying and distracting. Music is okay where there is no talking, unless it's at very very low volume or turned off when the talking starts. I stopped watching after 5 minutes for that reason.
