SUPER helpful!! I just swatched out these watercolors onto white and was like, "What the heck??" Decided to google information about them and found your video. Thank you so much for sharing this. I will be investing in some black watercolor paper as these colors are beautiful on black. Reminds me of agate or quartz stones on that black paper.

Great that you used the pouncer/sponge tool--using a brush with the watercolor grounds leaves distinct brush marks, which can work with a painting, but can also be distracting. I've been looking for a good tool before I invest in the black ground, so thanks for the suggestion. I think there are lots of uses with luminescent watercolors, I've been trying to incorporate more of them into paintings. Iridescent Scarab Red is my current favorite, love how it's a very earthy PR101, but with a green shine. Interference colors can also add interesting effects layered over regular watercolors. Wow! I never thought that one day I would want to paint sharks! That was such fun to watch, and has given me some ideas for my stamps. It's going to be a great way to sort my silhouette stamps on black paper and just paint, without worrying over the fine details, as I'm not good where a steady hand is needed. I was given a lot of metallic and iridescent paints for Christmas, and now you've given me ideas! A whole load of your videos have just arrived on my feed today, and I'm having huge fun watching them back-to-back! I'm a very happy bunny right now 😀!

Finetec make same paints with stronger effects, they are expensive but beautiful. Worth a try if you like paints like these

I have some of these Luminescent paints from a co-op buying group, but havent figured out what to do with them. Now I know what watercolor grounds are for! Fabulous! You rock! Hi Sandy. Years ago I had a friend tell me that scarabs are both ancient Egyptian symbols as well as a type of beetle (in fact red/green exactly as the paint is). So your wanting to paint bugs and insects is right on the money. A lot of fish change with the angle of view too, like Tetras. Some frogs...all sorts of nature critters. Years ago Twinkling H2Os had a scarab water color too which I still have and have never used, so I'll be real interested in what you do with yours. I too have D-S dot cards as well as several of their tubes, but not that one. Thank you again for sharing your talents and time!

Thanks for all amazing your talent just astounds me. Of course I absolutely loved the one with all the sharks and whales and octopus and stuff all over it. It figures though just a few hours ago I ordered some Stonehenge black watercolor paper and you're right it was a bit pricey. Then I see the thing about blacking the watercolor paper you have and I do have a big tablet of some type of white watercolor paper. Oh well.

Now I am puzzled! You show little pots of the color in your kitbut in the link, they are tubes. Do you make your own little pots of color and let them dry?

@Doris Cote, you can get pans of watercolors, or tubes of watercolors. Sandy uses an empty travel pan set, and she fills her own pans with the colors from the tubes. My mother used a palette with a set of wells, where she would add a tiny dot of color, and she’d paint with that. There’s a twist! Some companies make both pre-filled pans AND tubes, but identical colors in each don’t necessarily have the same properties or look the same as a finished color on paper. The best thing is to start with a good student set of watercolors and play to find out what you like and don’t like. It’s tons of fun, and you can create all kinds of neat things. I made holiday cards for family last year. ☺️
