For him, a blunder it's more like he missed a good move from his opponent
@TheEverburningFathom4 жыл бұрын
His main concern is losing the bishop pair which holds higher value than a knight and bishop to higher rated players as they know how to push that advantage when the position possibly opens up in a future endgame. exf5 loses the bishop anyways to Rxe7. And if he plays Bd8 to preserve the bishop pair, he will lose the d6 pawn. So normally in an opening, you will never want to lose your bishop without some type of compensation (initiative, better pawn structure, being up the exchange, piece activity, checkmating sequence).

This may not be something you'd like to hear, but it's fantastic to see GMs make blunders like you made a few times in this. Lowly 1000 player here, but it can do wonders for the confidence to see gods such as yourself, Nakamura, Botez, and Carlsen blunder things. Really enjoyed watching this. On one hand, I wish there was more explanation, but I totally understand the limitations of the format. Like, really, this as probably more than I'd get watching someone else. Thank you for showing high level play. Your calculation at 44:45 just shows how good of a player you are. God like calculation to checkmate.
