Make sure the green that you’re using in your background isn’t repeated in any other colors in your foreground. Neon green is a good choice

Hey there! Black is absolutely the wrong color choice for chroma key because black exists is every part of your video image. Make sure you choose a color like a neon green or blue that the software can easily separate and remove

Depends. If it’s complete, just export it in its entirety. Then you’ll have it for another project. If you want to modify it the next project, you could turn it into a compound clip but you can’t save those, you have to jump them in dynamic project mode. You could turn it into a Fusion clip (which can be saved) but that won’t necessarily save the sound effects with it
