It does suck we don't get to see Super Shadow since we haven't seen that form since 2005 but then again the Sonic Storybook games didn't have Super Sonic in favor of alternative forms so I guess it's not unprecedented.

No, the cutscenes were pre rendered. Therefore, they couldn't change the animation without putting in lots of effort. Remember this game has around 2 years in development, so Id rather they put that effort into Shadow Generations
