...so you ever call out Pat? Ya' kinda got us scammed. Feels real shitty that you make a video entirely about understanding Pat instead of the actual details of events where you actively call him out. Year after your vid. He still refuses to release the draft he'd claimed was written years ago. I'm normally all for not picking a side and staying out of it, but your direct influence on events requires you to pick.

In relation to the Sanderson conspiracy, there is a 1.5 hour panel at Dragonsteel Nexus this year that has the ominous title *REDACTED*. That is being held in the largest hall of the con. I can imagine this would be a great time to announce things.
@rosemarywilliams5183
@rosemarywilliams5183 2 ай бұрын
There's definitely been some speculation about that panel possibly being an adaptation announcement. It'd be cool, but I'm just not sure that Brandon has enough power to control when/how an announcement comes out. That'll be up to the studio. (On the other hand, a studio might be totally down to do the announcement at Dragonsteel Nexus. Dunno. Feels like they'd be more likely to want to do it at something bigger like SDCC, but this is definitely within the realm of possibility.) I am 99.99% sure, though, that the Worldhopper Ball isn't remotely related to anything adaptation. The whole thing is being produced by a company that specializes in this sort of thing, and they have their own group of in-house actors.
@nikkiwilger6377
@nikkiwilger6377 2 ай бұрын
I am going to politely disagree, and say that BS absolutely DOES have enough power to control the announcement. Especially if he makes that control a part of the contract when/if he sold the rights for the adaptation. Remember, Sanderson famously said he is not in the position of really NEEDING these studios' money, so he has all the leverage in the world to get these sorts of concessions. Just my opinion.

It's also possible that Brandonalsium could have made a convincing argument that Dragonsteel will be the best place to announce it from a pragmatic perspective. They don't have to compete with Disney etc. for prime panel stuff at a more mainstream event, they can take as long as they want and show whatever they want, and they will still reach a massive audience through social media.

@@rosemarywilliams5183 Eh, I could actually see the studio going for it. I think the way Sanderson dropped the secret projects news (that ended up causing waves all over the internet even outside the Cosmere fandom) was definitely a big part in why it blew up the way it did. They know that fans of Brandon are actually pretty good at getting the word out about big announcements if you can get them excited enough, so that's a lot of free marketing for the studio. That being said, I don't think it's an adaptation. Brandon has made it sound like things totally stalled out during the pandemic and it has been extremely slow getting things going again even in some fairly recent comments. Unless things have changed extremely rapidly in the past month or so, I wouldn't hold my breath. I could see a smaller, animated adaptation of one of his standalone books or novellas, though. A short adaptation of emperor's soul, for example, wouldn't be a full length feature and he could possibly bankroll a large portion of it himself.

As someone who vastly prefers physical books over ebooks or audiobooks, I don't care if the books are smaller as long as the overall quality doesn't drop off. With regards to the sustanable serif story: I work in a library. I'm uneasy about this, but will need to see it in print to truely make up my mind. As it is, the industry has been making books in a way that they do not last as long these days - the bindings just do not handle being circulated due to the practices used. While there may be an industry standard font, I've seen books with tiny print already. If this new font is harder to read for people with aging eyes (folks that need reading glasses, but are otherwise fine) then we're going to need to buy a lot more large print books, and they're more than double the price of a standard paperback.

My biggest problem with the Sanderson Conspiracy is this: I don't think he could convince Hollywood to shut up. The secret projects were under wraps because the only people who about that was him and his family. The cosmere RPG was under wraps because it was people who respected him enough to go along with it. I don't think Hollywood has that level of respect for anybody. I think that the cast and crew would be on board with doing that. I don't believe the studio executives funding the movie would. Hollywood doesn't give a shit, and this talk would have been done before this was a tactic proven to work so he wouldn't have been able to point to his clear success doing this.

Sanderson was asking for a lot of power over the production, so it may be possible he convinced them. It's almost like the movie was written by AI based off of an amalgamation of all sorts of other movies but without really explaining the why behind a lot of things happening and character decisions. Like one you have the Galaxy famous general who just finished explaining that you can't trust the empire and they will betray you and kill everyone... Then he tries to set up a negotiation with the food being a bargaining chip? And he never once thinks that even if you successfully bargain with the empire and they leave the planet that they won't just destroy your entire village out of spite? He literally has no reason to believe that they will survive at all even if they are successful yet he does it anyway.

I’m completely accustomed to reading a different font type and size every time I crack a book, even though my eyesight has diminished a bit over time.. But I’d hazard a guess that MOST readers won’t even “worry” about it.. most wouldn’t even notice that it was substantially different in a way that’d prompt a complaint.. If they weren’t told, they’d never register it.. The ones to take issue would just be that fraction of people who are never satisfied with anything anyway, and/or the obsessive book collectors who MUST have ALL volumes in a series Match in size and cover style..😜 I’m with you, green aspect is great, but so is fitting more books on a shelf!

Most of the paper used globally for newspapers, magazines and books does not come from a "forest". Trees that are pulped are grown as a crop in managed plantations just like potatoes. No one suggests thinner fries to save on potatoes.

At a Sanderson panel in Taipei 9 years ago he got really hyped about the beginnings of an entire cosmere adaptation. The plan at the time was to start with The Emperors Soul (probably because it had recently won a bunch of awards). So, not half bad Daniel. I'd put money on this conspiracy being much more true than we know.

I think the probabilities of the Brando sando man pulling that off is quite Big, but he's said Múltiple times he Will try to adapt other non cosmere works before he gets to the cosmere one so he can get some experience and a better foothold in Hollywood or the studios in general. I think snapshot if any will probably be the announcement at dragonsteel. Still, I truly wish you are right.

I think Daniel finally had it with Sanderson revealing stuff right before he is done editing, so he is now trying to guess what he is going to announce. Heck, maybe he already has a video for the movie announcement just it case so he can just drop it into the video when is time.

For the paperback book changes will wight has been down this road for years now. His cradle series paperbacks are all taller books but thinner with less pages. The larger format book has more surface area on page to fit more text and therefore even though each page is larger they use less paper overall for the entire book.

I had a lot of doubt that Mistborn got cancelled from the get go. The idea that the Writer's strike stopped it completely was a little silly lol

I'd love to see a Cosmere anthology made by the Love, Death, And Robots people on Netflix. They're doing one based on video games now, so it'd be a no brainer to go epic fantasy😊. It doesn't even need to be any of his main story arcs. Fade into ep. 1 with Wit sitting down to tell someone a story at a campfire. "Tales Of Wit, Wonder, and War. " it'll probably never happen, but I can dream.

At this point you gotta ask yourself if someone at Dragonsteel watches your twitch live streams when you are editting fantasy news just so Sanderson can sneak in some big news to mess with you because the TV show announcement for snapshot was RIGHT after you posted this

Brandon casually dropped in his Weekly Update that a Snapshot adaptation is in the works, so if anything is being surprise-announced at Dragonsteel Nexus it will be a cast and director for that

I'm hoping that there's not a noticeable change with the books. Not only do I prefer to read physical but I also have come to like having nicer books despite the price and the weeping of my wallet. If the overall quality goes down and lets face it the price isn't going to go down it'll defeat the point of having a nicer book in my mind.
