Well, this was certainly worth the wait. The teams you picked for everyone are pretty much perfect, and I can't wait to see which outside series you tackle next. Personally, I would've given Sokka a Dewott (a Water-type that throws its shell like a boomerang) and Zuko a Mega Charizard Y (as a parallel to his sister Azula, who's perfectly represented by Mega Charizard X), but I don't know who I'd take out to fit them in.

@@dashinhayes You're not the first person to say they wished it was a full team of 6, but as I've said a bunch of times before when it was brought up, 4 is a good number to cover enough Pokemon for the sake of lining them up with the Trainers' personalities and stuff; plus, if I did teams of 6, some of the picks would start getting redundant and be picks "just because", and I don't want a bunch of placeholder 'Mons on the teams just because the whole point of the series is to give me an excuse to talk about characters through the Pokemon that they'd have.

Dang you should've included Iroh as he was a very important character in the show (and the best written imo). These would be 4 pokemon that represent him: Slowking - To represent Iroh's wisdom and clever slutions to life's problems. Slaking - Iroh's always lounging around being lazy and enjoying life, but he can kick butt when he needs to, just like how Slaking has great power but is just slothful. Arcanine - Many pokedex entries talk about how strong it is and how powerful its flames are, just like Iroh. Ho-oH - Its gracefulness and good will embodies what Iroh is all about.

Dragonite. Iroh saved the Dragon population from extinction. Plus, Dragonite seems very pleasant and good natured. Chubby, but good natured nonetheless, and comes right before Mewtwo in the Pokedex. Why Aang doesn't get Mew or Mewtwo is anyone's guess.

I'm actually going to start an Avatar Mode Ultimate Challenge with my collection of Pokemon games, and this video was pretty spot on. In my Avatar Mode, I will be a part of the Air Nomads; meaning I can only catch and train Flying, Psychic, Fairy, Ghost and Bug type Pokemon. I can also catch Normal types, and if they are dual typed the other type must match my Nation. I'm currently playing HeartGold as an Air Nomad and it's really giving me a whole new game experience! (In generations where Fairy isn't available I just use Dragon types instead because Dragons typically "fly" in air). ... but speaking of Air Nomads, I think Aang should also have Mega-Rayquaza, Lugia and a Gengar to match his silly nature. Katara should have a Milotic, an Alolan Ninetails, a Blissey and a Suicune. General Iroh should be on here and have an Arcanine, a Haxorus, an Emboar, an Oranguru ... Princess Azula should have a Mega-Charizard X, a Bisharp, a Luxray, and a Spiritomb, and a Tyranitar.

Avatar state Aang just has a single Mega Rayquaza. He doesn’t need anything else.

To start off with, each nation has a type that obviously is tied with that bending style: Water Tribes have water, Earth Kingdom has rock, Fire Nation has Fire, and Air nomads have Flying, particularly normal-flying types. Water has ice as well for living in the ice cap poles, grass for the Foggy Swamp Tribe, and either dark for bloodbending or fairy for healing and the Moon spirit. Earth's ties with ground types might tie with a specific art form known as sandbending, but would be common among Earthbenders just like rock types. I gave poison to Earth for balance issues and because earthbending bends toxins, poisons, and pollution moreso than any other bending art. Also, Toph gets steel because of metalbending. Firebending is powered by drive and anger so they get fighting for balance issues. They also get electric for lightningbending and dragon for the first firebenders. Air Nomads have bug types that also fly but are weak to flying types which airbenders also have. In addition, they respect all life, so they are more attracted to bugs than other benders.. Through their spirituality, I also assigned them Ghost and Psychic types. Aang should have Mew or Mewtwo being the original legendaries that are also psychic types. That should be obvious! I gave nonbenders one type from each nation, well, sort of. They have either dark or fairy given their alignment. I gave them poison because I figured it's common enough and has a unique name for a counter item called antidote as opposed to _heal. Besides, can anyone use poison as a weapon? Fighting should also be common among nonbenders because they make up for their lack of supernatural ability through martial arts and/or ballistics. This is not to mention bug types being common as well. Pure normal types, not normal-and-something types like Air Nomad exclusive normal/flying birds for example, are accessible to anyone.

Aaaw man, no Azula and Iroh? that makes me sad - Before the sword Sokka always had his loyal friend, a boomerang, he has to have a Cubone/Marowak. Makes more sense than... keys; - I think it's a bit too dark for pokemon but it's a shame there's none that can represent Katara's bloodbending; - Good thing you remembered the moles, Excadrill fits so well for Toph. Toph is the best; - I think pyroar is also a good fit for Zuko. Great video! Good job on mixing these two awesome stuffs

Azula: Shiny Mega Houndoom - its pokedex entry is about how hot its flames are and Azula’s flames are blue - also the shiny is blue. Morpeko - represents her ability to use lightning, but also the switch between forms mirrors the dichotomy of her dignified, determined attitude in the beginning of her first arc, and her absolute insanity by the end of the show Alolan Persian - it keeps the refinement of normal Persian but it is ruthless and brutal, torturing its prey instead of finishing it off. Zoroark - represents her skill for Disguise, masquerading as a kyoshi warrior as part of her coup

Salamence can also learn moves from the 4 elements- Flamethrower, Earthquake, Hydro Pump, and Fly, so it works well for Aang. Although Rayquaza might work a bit better.

These teams are pretty solid all around and like the depth involved for creating each team! But why’d you stop at 4 PKMN?! Do you have any thoughts of PKMN they’d own if they had full teams of 6?! I definitely can see Katara owning a Milotic and Zuko owning an Arcanine! As for Toph, I wouldn’t doubt if she had Aggron and for Aang, I could see him owning a Lucario (due to sensing Aura which is mystical and all); and the same goes Sokka as well (owning a Lucario). I only do four Pokemon per character basically for the same reason I only do five characters per fandom, per video -- because I don't want these to be horrendously long, haha. And on the subject of team numbers specifically, I only go with four 'Mons because, in some cases in these "What If...?" videos, it's actually pretty hard to fill out even a third or fourth slot, so with a full six, I feel like some of the picks would start getting redundant or just be filler.

Kinda disappointed. Was expecting you to not just give them Pokemon based on their personalities but on their backgrounds and where they grew up. When would they have gotten these Pokemon and what were they like back then. Sokka should have a water or ice type that he caught early on while growing up in the southern water tribe like a Piplup which grows with him into a powerful Empoleon. A Tyrogue is kinda fitting but would a Tyrogue really be found somewhere in the south pole? I think it would be very logical for him to have found an abandoned Rufflet in somewhere in the south, they could probably handle the cold. The Aegislash could have been found in the episode where he forms his sword but I see no connection with Kleffki, no real logic for why he should have it

Okay, for reasons like this video's comments, my own included, I once watched Digimon in conjunction with Avatar in a fixed mathematical pattern, first two seasons with Last Airbender and Korra respectively. Apparently, only Digimon and other Nintendo franchises seem to be just as compatible with Pokemon as does Avatar. Funny because Bandhai Namco which did some Digimon games also did Smash Brothers. I didn't see a big problem with the great divide, personally! I understand it's message isn't very conventional, but i mostly agree with it.

It's not about the message being unconventional, it's more HOW they got the message out there. Aang straight up admits that he lied about knowing Jin Wei and Wei Jin in order to bring peace between the Zhang and the Gan Jin tribes. And that wouldn't be an issue, since Aang has lied during other instances (hell, he lied about not being the Avatar when he first met Katara/Sokka), but there was always a moment of Aang feeling remorseful for his deception once the truth comes out. There's none of that here, as Aang is not only super-alright with the fact that he made up an entire bullshit story about Jin Wei and Wei Jin to keep two tribes from killing each other, but Katara was also weirdly OK with it despite acting as the group's moral compass in literally almost every other situation. It was just a dumb bit of out-of-character writing for both Aang AND Katara, and that's on top of The Great Divide's events being utterly inconsequential from a plot standpoint and the featured side characters themselves (the Zhang/Gan Jin tribes) being bland and two-dimensional. The episode on a whole isn't really some egregious sin against the series or the universe as a whole, it's just that Avatar had established (and would continue to uphold) a quality of writing and character development that The Great Divide fell woefully short of.

Think Toph would work well with Gallade, since not only can Gallade and Toph sense what the opponent is thinking, Gallade can only be Me, which goes along with Toph's Tomboy nature. Also, picking Houndoom for Zuko was Brilliant

I mean, yeah, but Silvally was also a genetic chimera made of stitched together Pokemon parts, clearly a product of manmade technology and science, something that Aang's been shown to not necessarily vibe with (at least, as it relates to how it affects ancient/cultural artifacts, particularly those of the Air Temples). Not to mention that Silvally's very existence -- one that was meant to replicate the image and the power of a literal god and domesticate it for human needs -- could be seen by many as a crime against nature.
