Happy first day of summer, everybody, and thanks for watching this video! Like I said at the start, I've wanted an excuse to talk about Danny Phantom for a while, and the "What If...?" series is definitely my go-to excuse to touch on a certain fandom, so hey, there you go, haha. Not sure what the next video I do is gonna be -- I'd ran a poll on the Community Tab a week or so ago about whether or not you'd like to see some kind of Q&A video, and the response was pretty solidly positive to that idea, so that may be what I do just so I can put something out that doesn't take QUITE as much effort for one upload, but we'll see what happens. If not that Q&A, it'll either be another "What If...?" video or another "Story Anatomy" video. Again, all depends on what I'm in the mood to make, I guess. In any case, thanks again for watching! To tell you the truth, I did actually consider that, and I guess you could make the argument that it could've been in Minior's slot, but I really just wanted to mention the astronaut thing, haha. I think the thing that made me decide against Froslass was just the fact that, technically, even though his Ghost Sense is the result of the latent ice powers, he doesn't REALLY get those ice powers (you know, not fully realized, anyway) until halfway into Season 3, whereas the astronaut thing is touched on multiple times throughout the show. Plus, if we're gonna be technical, Marshadow CAN learn Ice Punch, so there's that, haha.

I once said that Danny Phantom has that Catch em all vibe of Pokémon as a superhero show mix with ghostbusters because it does actually fit together base on the theme song, that’s what makes it even more iconic.

I think one of the reasons that Vlad is unable to buy the Packers is simply because he can't overshadow that many people at once. I think the max limit on his clones that he can have is three or four at any one time so producing more than that would probably be impossible.

That sounds plausible, but he DID overshadow way more than 3 or 4 people at a time in the episode where he made everyone vote for him so he would become the Mayor of Amity Park. I'm not saying you're wrong, because maybe it IS an issue of the limit of simultaneous overshadow targets, but he's definitely done a large number of people at once. That said, the election thing WAS way after that line about not being able to buy the Packers, so maybe he just couldn't do that many people at once when he said that, but maybe he's improved enough by the mayoral election that he possibly COULD overshadow all the Packers shareholders somewhere down the line?

@@SuperNerdDaniel well you also have to remember, he didn't have to overshadow every single person at the voting and nor did he have to overshadow most of the people that didn't want him as mayor all at once. I mean how big is Amity Park I'd say have like a couple thousand people at most so it really wouldn't be that much of a problem for him to overshadow a couple dozen people at a time. Also it was shown if a person is strong-willed enough or stubborn enough they can force a ghost out of them if they're being overshadowed and I'm pretty sure that no one in Green Bay with the one to sell the Packers.

Something I find interesting, and rather comedic, is that while Vlad is a distorted reflection of Danny, and Vlad is painted as this cunning and powerful enemy, some episodes paint him as someone with an incredible lack of foresight. An example being in the 44th overall episode, “Torrent of Terror”, when Vlad helps free a dangerous weather manipulating ghost known as Vortex, to make it rain in the midst of a heat wave, so Vlad could ingratiate himself with the voters? Um, okay. Oh, Vlad gets Vortex to adhere to his demands by shocking him? Yes, I see. I see no way in which this situation could go wrong. Oh, Vortex decides to unleash a severe storm on Amity Park after Vlad orders him to stop the rain which the former considered his art? Who could have seen that coming?

Or when he goes to try and steal the Ring of Rage and the Crown of Fire in "Reign Storm" -- like, if he knows so much about the artifacts he's looking to empower himself with, surely he must've known that Pariah Dark was locked in the Sarcophagus of Forever Sleep **WITH THE CROWN**, meaning there was basically no way to get the Crown (which he needed to make the Ring work) without waking up Pariah Dark, who obviously wouldn't have just let Vlad waltz out with his all-powerful objects. Like, surely, with all of his insight into the Crown and the Ring with his desire to steal them, surely he would've come up with a plan to deal with Pariah, knowing he'd be wearing the damn Crown, before he went through the effort to get the Skeleton Key in the first place??

I'm not sure what his parents would have but I can't see them having ghost Pokémon considering they wanna tear them bit by bit, molecule by molecule. I think Jack Fenton would at least have Snorlax because he eats a lot XD

I feel like Danny should have gotten a Greavard or Houndstone.... but it looks like this video came out a good 4 months before we were properly introduced to them. Which sucks, because with Danny's first instinct upon seeing the Ghost puppy, Cujo (being to pick him up and smile as Cujo licks his face) putting a ghost puppy on his team feels like a no-brainer.

I mean, that's definitely weird, not gonna lie -- aside from the fact that Dani introduces herself (initially) as Danny's "cousin" and the two of them tend to view each other as such, Dani's a genetic clone of Danny, so wouldn't that technically just be shipping Danny with himself? Also, not that I'd usually cite anything Butch Hartman says, because fuck him, but apparently, according to him, sometime after the series ended, Dani would be adopted by Jack and Maddie Fenton, making her Danny's adoptive sister, which just unlocks a whole other level of weirdness for people who ship that.

I had a weird experience with Danny Phantom while it was on. I watched some episodes during the early years and thought it was really cool, but for some reason I didn't stick with it for as long as I did other kids' shows. Maybe it just premiered too late in time, since I grew out of pretty much all the shows I watched as a kid by 7th or 8th grade (around the time my American Idol obsession kicked into overdrive and I leaned more towards reality competitions). Of course, I don't regret bailing on Butch Hartman's shows when I did, considering what kind of person he turned out to be, and I'm not so attached to anything he made that I feel the need to separate art from artist. But since I didn't watch the show all the way to the end, and it's been a very long time since I've seen any of it, I have to ask: Why do so many people head-canon Danny as being trans? Is there support for that in the show, or is it just to piss off the transphobic creator?

It's a bit of both, honestly -- not just to fuck with Butch Hartman (which is always fun), but there are definitely some things that could be read as trans about Danny in the show itself (excuse the incoming massive text wall): 1. If you look at the physical differences between Danny Fenton and Danny Phantom, Danny Fenton seems to have a somewhat more feminine-coded anatomy (wider hips with narrow shoulders), whereas Danny Phantom has more masculine-coded features (broad shoulders with slimmer hips); if Danny's anatomy was the same way between both forms (i.e. if his hips were always as slim as they are as Danny Phantom), it wouldn't make sense for Danny's pants to fit him the way they do in his human form; all of this is evidence towards the idea that Danny Phantom is just Danny Fenton's body matching what he feels like in his soul 2. While we're talking about the anatomy thing, in the episode "What You Want", there's a bit where Desiree, a ghost who has the power to grant wishes, tries to get Danny to make a wish by saying, "Surely there must be something..." while specifically reaching for Danny's chest, to which Danny responds by telling her to get away and shooting her with an ecto-energy blast, so it's likely that Desiree knows or has some inclination that Danny feels dysphoric about his chest and was offering to alter it 3. "Danny" is a pretty gender-neutral name, further emphasized by how similar Danny's female clone (the one made by Vlad Masters in the episode "Kindred Spirits") is very similarly-named "Dani" 4. Speaking of Dani, the fact that Dani is meant to be a direct genetic clone of Danny Fenton and yet is a girl (despite Danny being a boy) seems like a pretty solid indicator that Danny was assigned female at birth, not to mention that no one, in any episode Dani appears in, ever seems to address why Dani is a girl despite supposedly being a 1-for-1 genetic clone of Danny; like, Vlad never says, "Oh, I cloned you but I specifically designed this clone to a girl instead of a boy because such-and-such reason" 5. The start of the episode "Lucky In Love" has most of the significant characters at a water park, and all of the male characters are shirtless, except for Danny, who's wearing a tank top, which would support the idea that he wears a chest binder 6. Also in that same episode and same scene, Danny's looking for a place to Go Ghost when he spots Johnny 13's Shadow at the water park and "accidentally" runs into the girls' bathroom, causing Paulina and Star to push him out and Paulina says, "I'd tell you to go to the men's room, but I don't think you qualify", and while that could easily just be read as a "Haha, let's emasculate this male character because that's funny and hilarious" moment that Danny Phantom as a show unfortunately has quite a few of, given the other bits of evidence for Danny being trans, that could also be read as a transphobic comment 7. There's a bit during the episode "Eye For An Eye" where we can see Danny showering, which I THINK is the only time in the series we see him shirtless, and in any case, his chest is clearly a bit pointed/bulging, which is also a noticeable feature added to a lot of the female characters' chests, and given that this is an animated show, this couldn't possibly have happened on accident given the extra effort it would take to add that detail to Danny's chest for a whole scene There's more points to this than even what I've listed and some KZbin videos/posts around the internet that go into detail on some of these things better than I can, but there's definitely some evidence in the show itself to suggest that Danny is transmasc. Not to mention I've seen a video here on KZbin of character designer Stephen Silver saying that Danny is trans, and Danny's voice actor, David Kaufman, has a TikTok account, and on at least one of his videos, in the comments section, seemed to affirm/support the idea of Danny being trans (someone had asked him his thoughts on the theory, and he simply replied, "Why not?" with a sunglasses emoji).

Ooooh, nice! Bit of a weird episode, that one -- mostly just because I just found it kinda silly that the butterfly effect of Danny preventing Vlad's accident in the past was that Jack got ghost powers, but SPECIFICALLY those that made him look like Vlad Plasmius with Jack Fenton's body type. I don't know, I guess I just wish they'd been a bit more creative with the really interesting concept of, "Hey, what if JACK got the ecto acne instead of Vlad?".

@@lunawolf6288 Oooooh, tough to pick, honestly, but if I had to choose, I'd say "The Ultimate Enemy", partly because I'm a sucker for a well-done "fighting your own evil self/evil future self" trope, and Dark Danny is a truly menacing antagonist all on his own anyway. Plus, it serves as a pretty interesting look at Danny's character -- who he is now, and who he wants to be in the future (and also what he's afraid of becoming). Also, I definitely love "Bitter Reunions" for what a great job it did introducing Vlad as another human/ghost hybrid and establishing his and Danny's dynamic, and "Fanning the Flames" and "Pirate Radio" because Ember's pretty rad (and the latter because of Ember's rock'n'roll pirate ghost outfit).
