The reason i like pms so much is because generally there is this super romanticized way we view youtubers, and pms kind of demolishes that. I think it humanizes more and gives us a more realistic perspective of people who make youtube videos. I loved April, thank you Dan!
@AnyaPailthorpe8 жыл бұрын
I liked that you clarified at the end how life isn't how it looks in a video because it took me a while to realise that (and when I did, I made a video about it, typically) because before I started KZbin I think I just thought that these fun times and new friends would just happen... It's nice to see someone address that it isn't like that all the time

Your monthly vlogs are great, and of all the youtubers I watch, I like your videos the most because they are genuine and funny. They give me some light comedy when I need a pick-me-up. It's nice you remind us that your life ain't all red-and-blue carpets, because no-one's life is like that all the time. If it was, those occasions wouldn't be special. Let us value those days where nothing happens. They help to charge my batteries. I know I need that occasionally.
@sunnivash86588 жыл бұрын
Also: Even though you feel you should upload more regularly, to me it seems like there are videos from you quite often. Human beings have a tendency to judge themselves waay more harshly than other people do (and to think others judge them more harshly than they actually do. Seriously. There's been psychological studies on it. Doesn't make us failures. Just human).

Don't know if it's true for everyone, and I don't know what makes a video popular, but I do know that I'm drawn to these videos because they're a snapshot into real life, highs and lows included. I've loved your natural honesty and frankness and believe that you really are a 'genuine' person. Horrible word to use but a surprisingly rare and incredibly valuable trait that automatically makes me want to see you succeed in what you want to do. Your uploads are a gem amongst an otherwise troubled day because I know they're not going to be fake and its good to know we all go through the same stuff. So thanks for what you do, and always do it for you first and foremost. Wish you all the best.

This video was more relatable than I expected... people like you are the reason I think youtube is actually worth my time, real people, with the same emotions, struggles and sometimes confidence crisis like I have. It's so lovely that you have your friends and family to support you, but most importantly, you have youself and you try again and again and again. Life is hard, but so are you! I know that you will get your shit together one day, and I promise you it will amazing!

I love your PMS series so much, and this one in particular could not have come at a better time for me. I've spent the past two weeks having a completely crippling existential crisis, followed by a quarter life crisis, and repeat. I'm turning 24 very soon, about to complete a master's degree, and am moving across the country for a big internship. I suddenly felt like I had wasted the past several years of my life and was on the wrong path career-wise. I became terrified that I would never know what I wanted to do with my life, I wouldn't feel fulfilled, and I would never have a close friend group. This video helped me realize that most people my age don't have it all figured out, and that's Okay. I sometimes forget that the people who have seemingly idyllic lives still have boring days and sad days and days where they doubt themselves; your discussions in these videos help remind me of that. I guess what I'm trying to say is thank you. Your videos remind me that there will always be bad days and just plain weird days, but there will also be a lot of good days. Being okay doesn't have to mean you 'have it all together' all the time. I think I'm going to be fine. Cheers.

the thing that I absolutely love about this is the fact that you keep in the parts that make you human. so many creators will make videos in which they document their life and edit it to make it seem all perfect and shiny and as if nothing is going wrong for them and in you filming the outro that you have for this month just makes this video even better. great job once again dan! x

I've really been enjoying this series, it's nice to be allowed to see glimpses into other people's world's. However I'm also really glad that you take the time to point out that you construct the narratives and that we don't see everything your life is made up of. How intimidating it would be to think that all your life was partys, friends and awesome premieres! While you may be having a crisis of confidence in what to do with both this PMS and May's one, I'm sure it will be entertaining and interesting. Your videos have your personality and sense of humour and intelligence stamped throughout, (the use of quotes about April at the start of this video for example) and so even if you don't have something as 'huge' as a premiere to put in May, it will still be more than worth watching. More than once probably. That said I hope you work out what works best for you in your head both production and upload wise. Pretty sure that's more important than weekly vids. Damn that's a ramble! Soz

I realise this is really weird and strange and all things in that manner, and I apologise if you find it unsettling in any way, but anyway: Your video this month inspired me to write a poem about your April and all that, so if you're interested, then jen April! April is What April does. What April does is fool With pool parties, Cool half-hearted laughter. Sometime after ghoul-like smiles, Miles away. April is What April does, What April does is close its eyes Won’t realise: just makes what’s fake, Like half-full enthusiasm. Won’t give, only take. It’s make or break, and break a leg. Creative juices slip away, And drain away, Was there yesterday, but not today, makes its way far far and away. April is What April does, But April doesn’t have to have a say Day-to-day in the way you think and behave. Because April fools in charcoal jewels. (the end)

I really enjoy your PMS's. Not because they show how amazing your life is and how you've 'got your shit together' - it's because you're so charismatic and you edit these really well. None of us have out sh*t together Dan, as you said in the beginning of your videos we're looked upon as Adults who have responsibilities and when you look at it... We all make it up as we go along, we gather our experiences through life and build up on it to take us further throughout life. I consider April/May the slower point of the year, you've shot through January, February and March on the high of "New Year!" you and your friends have new plans but then you slow down into April where "WHOOPS" the enthusiasm runs out because things become routine and that's life! You worry and think about things because you are human. But that's what makes us better. We improve, we reflect and we do better. I hope that your confidence builds up again Dan because you are a lovely person as well as a brilliant actor and singer! Now for tea.

Just because you have all of these amazing experiences and wonderful friends does not mean that you aren't aloud to feel down. Feeling low or unmotivated should not come with any guilt and you most certainly should never feel ungrateful. We can all see that you are extremely grateful and always grounded. A low moment, for however long, is merely symptomatic of being human and nothing to feel guilty about.

watching this a few days late (joys of bad holiday WiFi) but I'm always happy to sit down and watch this series. you're one of my favourite youtubers Dan and I love seeing new content by you or with you in it. and I'm glad you added that moment at the end because despite knowing, vaguely, that someone's life isn't always glitz and glamour and that these videos can be structured as though that is the case, it's lovely that you don't try to pretend as though that's how it is. I'm not sure I'm making sense when I say that, but I suppose I mean I'm glad you stay honest with us about how you are and how your life is, through both the ups and the downs. I'm rambling, long story short I can't wait to see more stuff from you Dan and I hope you're alright.

Had assumed that the reason you weren't being quite so regular was because you were burnt out from vlogging all the time. I watch a few of these types of videos, and while it is lovely to see them neatly edited together, with exciting events, pretty shots and emotional musics, the reason i watch them, is the personalities of the creators. The people i watch i find, funny or interesting or thought provoking or cute ;) and that is why i watch them. Keep it organic and natural as you can do, which i imagine can't be easy when a camera is recording, but i would say that people, or at least most people, aren't watching for the events or activities, but for the people doing them. I personally enjoy watching a group of people sat round eating pizza being relaxed and themselves, as much or maybe more than that same group of people at a fancy party or film premiere. Just be yourself and film what seems right and natural for you. Viewers watch for the people not the events :)

You don't have to make it all happy or a certain length, if anything these should be like a diary for you, we just peak in and see a little of your life. It doesn't matter if these aren't all shiny and perfect, they are a reminder of your month, if that month wasn't your best, don't try and hide thy from yourself, accept it and move on to try and make the next month better. We don't expect anything from you, you are putting that pressure on yourself. Calm down and make these videos because you want to, not because you feel like you have to.

So sorry to hear that you're going though a bad time. It will always hit everyone, some more than others and I hope you don't have to endure it that long. Having a shitty month is horrible and I hope you know that all of us support you and will always be here for you in a time of need. You have an amazing group of supportive friends and this may sound weird but use them! Not in a horrible way. But if you really need a pick me up ask if they want to go for a walk round a park or something. And not having family round sucks! So make sure that when you see them you make so many memories to cherish and look back on in periods of shitty-ness. Yet again another amazing video and I really hope you can power through xxx

Try not to be so hard on yourself: You might not upload as regularly as you did sometime last year, but you still upload, you stick to it and you haven't let your doubts or worries stop you from making KZbin videos. Making something despite having doubts is a real achievement! You can't compare any of your older videos to the PMS series, so comparing last year's upload schedule to your current one might be a bit like comparing apples and pears :) Everyone needs a pick me up every once in a while.
