I agree Lucy. We need to acknowledge ans mourne what was lost. Burying it, well it just comes alive and bites you. Acknowledge and process and then get to a point where you have no regrets and realise everything was mean to be just as it is. Then you truly start to live. I've been free and living like this since December 23rd 2019. It feels amazing.

But I'm unfortunately a heroin, cocaine, ice addict, Xanax, valium. Though I have 5 years soberiety in July this year. I'm always labled with the stigma of being an addict. Dear Daniel, thank you for being my hero... you started in rock n roll, but everyone in the world can hear that you are more than rock... when you starting exploring how to write for musicals and mix story with music I'll bet you didn't expect that life would have to make a hero out of you first. As an Australian muso, I have felt the pain that floods towards someone who works to inspire others. It is like a game of rugby in which there is only you on the team and the whole world is on the other team. This song and this album, is basically a testimony that even though you were grossly outnumbered in this game... you got to the other side and got a goal. I can join you in the sadness of there being less people to celebrate. The world is filled with cold and hurt people - but they needed you. That's why you had to come. If this album is the last goal you ever get in this weird sport, it would be enough for me... It has given me strength to try again. I also turned away from rock and set my eyes on musicals... and I learned the hard way that a story doesn't work unless it has a hero. I can't just write my story. But YOU... as far as I can see... are a hero. Thank you for being my hero, the hero of many musicians, the hero of many suffering, the hero of Australians, even the hero of the planet. Nobody can tell the truth like Australians, and you are sharing more hard truths than anyone... you're amazing... if your soul decides to stick around to try and kick another goal, I think that goal should be an Australian Musical... Because "Matilda" was okay, but Tim Minchin isn't really Australian. He's British in disguise... so even though he's an idol, he put a few too many long English words into our "Australian" Broadway musical... You on the other hand, can speak the language of music. You could orchestrate the sound of the universe cheering and the whole world would understand. That score would be the most beautiful thing ever left behind by a human. Especially at this time when humanity is being dunked into an age of digital weirdness. Your music, your story, your connection to the universe would leave a solid mark... for a long long time. This new version of the song Freak is a genius idea! The whole idea of having a choir of children singing the original lyrics as a chant at the beginning and at the end, like they were playing around a bonfire while holding hands, and the fact that a eleven years old girl is singing the song is brilliant, because these children symbolize innocence and this song is like a funeral to the innocence of Daniel's childhood. The modifications in the lyrics are also brilliant, because they perfectly tell his story, what happened and what could have happened, even worse. The lines “and if the FutureNever happened/would you ever believe?”, “if only the world wasn't cruel to you” and “what if the FutureNever came/and the boy didn't want to go?”, really hits you in the feelings. The way he also appears in the song using the vocoder is like he came from the future to leave the question “What if the FutureNever happened?” in the air, like what could have happened if something had been different. His life could had been better or not? I also love the way that Daniel´s backing vocals in key moments of the song merge with purplegirl´s voice. I get the feeling that the song ends with the dead of Daniel´s innocence, but with the dead of it something is now ready to be unleashed. Someone that was someday a innocent, not a “freak”, now embraced it, and the Freak is born. Then we have the version FR22K, when this happens. Being a “freak” isn´t now seen in a negative way, but like a superpower, ready to be unleashed if provoked. I feel that the loud drumming when the Freak symbol in its original colour appears, preceded by a really loud guitar that seems that is going to last, but then disappears, is like a announcement that something is near to be released, but that doesn´t happen yet in this version. It only happens in the FR22K version. Then it ends again with the chant of the children, playing around a bonfire while holding hands. After all this, i can´t help but think that this version is like a ritual. I heard the two new versions of the song Freak together and this is now my interpretation. I think that something like this may happen in the featurette, after the scene in wich “young Daniel” was beaten. That can cause something inside of him “to breake” and then the Freak is unleashed, with superpowers. I also get the feeling that the Daniel from the FutureNever will avoid that something really bad happens to the Daniel from the past in the scene that he is seated on the cliff. I also love the detail in the brackground artwork! Only in this lyric video the blue light that symbolizes FreakNever is missing and instead of that we have white, symbolizing that the Freak hasn´t been released yet. I must also say that purplegirl has a beautiful voice, full of emotions. I think that she will make great things in the future, but only at the right time and only if she wants it.
