Great ideas. I have set up matrix for my stereo tops and another matrix for the sub with the EQ crossover settings. I used to use an aux send for subs for 20+ years, but watched Michael Curtis’ Videos about the subject and have found mixing is now that much simpler for me. I’m not trying to play mix engineer and system tech at the same time. However, your method is very intuitive for those starting out. Thanks for another video to get the gears turning.

Hi Daniel, I can't tell you how much I appreciate your videos. They move quickly, and I love that. I'd rather pause/rewind for real info than listen to someone Babble for 10 minutes on a two-minute topic. Anyway, I'm trying to use my M32 left and right masters to feed broadcast and I'd like to use the center to feed my mono house PA. The issue is I don't want to have to dial in a center level every time I add a channel. I would like it just to be automatically matched to the left and right as soon as I assign the channel to center. Is there a way to do that? I am temporarily using matrix 6 to accomplish it but would feel victory to use that fader!!!!! Thx!!!

You can send all the channels to the center bus at 0 db (including the auxes, usb, effects returns) Since it's a post fader bus, the fader of the channel itself will decide the level that is going to that bus just like the mainLR That way you don't have to mess with the sends unless you want to make a change in the room differently from the broadcast

Hi Daniel, sometimes I got a huge buzzing sound during my set. Midas m32 with snake dl16. Looked it up and had to change setting from 48 to 44,1… it seemed to have fixed it but still wondering. Do you have to have Midas and stagebox (snake) on same hz?

Of course all digital devices (mixer,stagebox,soundcard...) should be running at the same sample rate otherwise you'll have clock errors and either you won't have audio or it will be unusable Make sure that all the devices are running at 48khz or all of them at 44.1khz

So I got a little confused at the end when you talked about whether or not to send the kick drum to the subs if you use a drum subgroup. I do use a drum subgroup, and even though I send the kick and some big toms to that subgroup, I also send them to the mono bus. I currently do not use a matrix for my left/right, but based on many videos of yours that I've watched, I'm thinking of trying it. So if I have a matrix for my left/right, and I'm using a drum subgroup, where should I send the kick (and other drums I want to go to the mono bus)? When you say "it's not mono bus or matrix, it's mono bus and matrix", does that mean you have a single matrix set up for the mono bus? Are you sending the mono bus to a single matrix like you're doing with the main L/R? I hope I'm makeing sense.

You can send the mono bus to a matrix but your not really gaining anything What i meant is that don't think in terms of exclusively using the matrix to split your mix OR just using the mono bus without any matrix You can use a matrix for your main LR to filter the low frequencies and use the mono bus to feed the subs with the low freq without wasting a matrix And that way if you decide to record the main mix or send it to a livestream it is staying intact and not being ruined by speaker processing or room eq The idea is to have a good mix in the mixer regardless of what you're doing with your speakers in the room

I think I've been confused about what to do with the kick drum because while I have a drum group that I send all drum mics to, I think it was set up wrong initially (not by me). All the drums were still set to go to the main LR and mono, so I took them out of the Mail LR but left the kick and some toms in the mono. I should note that I also use DCAs, so I took all the drum channels off the DCA, but left the drum group on the DCA. I'm assuming that's correct. For the drums I'm sending to the drum group, should I exclude the ones that I'm sending to the mono or should I send them all? If I send them all, does what does the drum group do with the low end that needs to go to the mono channel. I know that's long winded, so in short I'd like to know the settings of drums that need low end sent to the mono when using a drum group.

@darrylkallen you can keep the kick and toms in both but just make sure thatyour subs and mains are aligned at the cross over frequency (the range of frequencies within which the mains and subs are interacting together) But if they are not aligned i would not send a source to both

Hi Daniel. I'm currently using the mono bus to feed our mono PA here at the arena. I have a the FX8 EQ inserted on the mono bus. My question is can I copy those EQ settings to another scene?

Yes you can save that effect as a preset on the mixer and load it inside the other scene

Good day! 'mind me askin again, what can you suggest, i have 2 front cluster and 2 side cluster of arrays, but i need to limit the front since the space is narrow in front while the side clusters needs to be loud cause its wider and longer space ahead..can i use mono bus on front? Matrix on subs? Main on sides? Thank you!

You can use a matrix for each one of them You have 6 mono matrices or 3 stereo matrices so you can have the front speakers on a stereo matrix, the sides on a stereo matrix and the subs on a stereo matrix or a mono matrix or you can use the mono bus for the subs

Yes If you have different subgroup for you instruments and mics you can send these subgroups to a matrix and balance them differently from the main mix then use that matrix for the stream Or you can just send the main LR to the matrix It's up to you

I know how to do matrix , I know how to do mono , I know how to do left and right , but I’m pretty sure you screwed up more people then helping them because you talk in circles
