I need to say something: My 13 year old sister is trapped in an abusive household (Well, it's chilled a bit because the abuser has cancer now :) ) and she used to defend him all the time, saying stuff like "But he gives us so much money!" and resent me for leaving and speaking the truth. This was partly because my mom mad-mouthed me and glorified her abuser. She learns from what she hears.
