We need deflation. Prices need to come down by 30% across the board. The Fed is just making the problem worse.

Suck from the teat of the "Blue Democrat Overlord." Do-ith his bidding-ith. I bet somebody must also have a huge bond somewhere and the gov't doesn't want to pay the crazy return or something. Its looking like a "Sell out move." This is sad. I'm going to have to get all my family together and plan some financial fortitude moves. I wonder how they got to, cough cough blackmail, Powell.

50 basis points has always been the first rate cut, wake tf up. Did you know Greenspan did three 50 basis point cuts in a row during the 00's recession? 50 basis points was expected because it was a standard move.

Why aren’t the reporters asking the question. Do you know how much money is being given to illegal immigrants on a monthly basis? And is the money given to these immigrants propping up the retail sector?
@BobGrantTMАй бұрын
As expected, the FED caved to the markets and cut interest rates by 50 basis points. Not only will this round of rate cuts not stop a cooling economy from entering a recession, but it will also turn up the heat on inflation, making the recession that much worse. Buy *gold* and *silver* now.
@christopherdrake8406Ай бұрын
The FEDs main stake holder is JP Morgan. They wanted 50% cut, that's what Powell did. Now he'll cut again and again. Food prices have gone up in the past month. Gas prices are still high compared to 4 years ago. Now the mideast is blowing up. FEDs should have raised rates.

Hope you can figure it out. It reeks of it everywhere. Only officials refuse to admit it. Everyone feels it, even if the more well off still spend. When the panic starts, oh boy...things fall like dominoes. It's long overdue, as they invervened in 2008 and did not let things settle. They just swept things under the rug and now have rotten. Wondering what solutions they have now...30s style hyperinflation?

"Defied the markets" that anticipated this size of a cut??? Huh?
@BarAlexCАй бұрын
my thoughts exactly. This cut means submission to the markets and reeks of great fear and desperation. He had to raise the rate in order to defy the markets... I wonder how much are they going to print when they finally acknowledge the recession. Remember Bernanke shouting "everything is fine" while everything was burning back in 2006-2007 (up to 2008, I think). These guys only admit recession having started when there's no way to deny it any more.

Putting it all into a roth or 401k would have returned 3x the amount at the very least in the whole time the FED has had interest rates above 4%, think about that. If you're gonna save, it's better saved into a fund if you're not at retirement age, and even then, retiree's still have 5-10 years in retirement and beyond to benefit from stock market gains instead of measly bond gains. But also, if you've got a pulse on anything then you should know bond prices go up if yields go down.. But that's why its better to stay diversified because you don't just wanna go all in on every opportunity only to be too late.

The Fed is undoubtedly responsible for the present catch-up efforts, as they were first too slow to control inflation. The pandemic, supply-chain issues, are all contributing reasons to the impending inflationary perfect storm. I'm still looking for companies to make additions to my $500K portfolio, to boost performance. Here for ideas...

Should be talking about the 47 trillion dollars that boomers have in retirement savings and investments. All those other recessions mean nothing if the old boomers are in the “I’m going to spend before I die” mode and goose the economy with “end of of life” spending. Covid was a wake up call and personally I’m seeing people in their 60-70’s dying early as opposed to the depression era generation of 80’s. Also, this tail end of boomers are the largest group of the boomers hence increasing amounts of retirements and possibly retirement spending. Need I remind everyone about how greedy and un-conservative boomers are about spending money when they have it. Gen z and millennials have no money to spend but boomers have plenty.

Oil & gas prices always go down when the economy is entering a recession. T debt rates have been dropping since April, now the fed is cutting. What is wrong with that?
