How can I create a simple golf swing? An effortless golf swing, a golf swing that doesn't require me to think of a million things?
A few years ago I created the Catapult Method. It became an internet hit. Viewed and shared by over 2 million golfers and now used by many golf coaches around the world it will truly help you generate more accurate yards with every golf club in the bag.
When I first released the golf video ( The ORIGINAL • EFFORTLESS GOLF SWING ... ) a number of golfers said they had generated more power but weren't sure how they could apply this power to strike their irons pure. They would often hit the ground behind the golf ball or become a little erratic.
So today I will show you how the Catapult Method can be applied effectively to every club in the bag no matter your age or ability. If you are looking to hit your driver straight, improve your impact position with your irons or simply want to hit the ball further The Catapult Method is a game changer

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZbin and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumbleI’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

He explains it so much better. I tell my friends they have to allow the "flick of the wrists", he explained it much better. I get 30-50 yards more on each club than my golf buddies just because of this. It's hard to explain to others.

Danny, I have been practicing this technique now for the last month based on your previous videos. I practice it daily on the back deck and also on the golf course. This video is a great re-cap! I have seen a real improvement in my distance and accuracy and much less stress on my 72 year old frame! It really works but takes practice to be able to loosen up and just swing through and stop trying to steer the club head to the ball. Thanks!

Danny, thank you for introducing me to the catapult swing. In your earlier catapult videos you described a “spiral” backswing, a “throwing” of the club downswing, a movement of the lead shoulder backwards thru impact and having the body turn in response to the catapult. This was a game changer for me… making the easy swing and hitting further and straighter. This video explanation seems to contradict the earlier and even encourage a lunging swing??

Absolutely works, more distance with less effort. I can see now how the guy’s on tour generate power now. It’s about overcoming your fear of hitting wild shots. Your ability to explain this game is up there with some of the greats. How is your knowledge with repetitive back injuries and how to avoid them ?
@DanielMaude

I think if you can learn to swing the club your own way through feel your body will naturally protect itself. It gets injured when we start to swing in ways that just don’t suit us.

Probably the best bit of advice I have seen on KZbin ever. I have removed all the other videos I had saved in my library as there was something in there for every move or body position in the golf swing, too many thoughts going on! I’m so tense and stiff during the swing and struggle with over rotating in the back swing causing a flip at impact. This will hopefully help solve my issues and generate more consistency. Fantastic video Danny 👍🏻

I watched this video after you posted it and had a few practice swings in the garden. Due to lock down I couldn't go to the range. Seemed like I was striking the ball well. Out of all the videos I've been watching this one stuck with me. Played yesterday. First thing I noticed was that I wasn't thinking about my swing mechanics. Just thinking about releasing the club. I can't thank you enough Danny. I hit the ball better than I ever have. I was so much more consistent and my driving was brilliant(for me). The other thing I noticed was I was finishing my swing in a great position. I can't recommend this video enough.

Thanks for the video. I am a weak petite senior female who has just started to learn golf. After numerous expensive lessons, I couldn’t even hit the ball in 3 months. Even if I accidentally hit it, the most that I could get is a dismal 30 yards from the #7 iron. After learning about your method and practice at home for one night, I went back to the range and was amazed that I got past 50 yards which is a significant milestone for me. I’ll keep practicing and hope that I’ll get better one day. Thank you!

Danny, you have transformed my swing. I have played a lot of sports at the competitive level, but the golf swing has always eluded me, possibly because I started golf very late. I watched your first catapult video a couple of years ago but the other mental tumblers weren't in place yet for it to fall into place. I now have a much better understanding of the general concept of the golf swing and rediscovering this lesson has been a real mental game changer for me. So far, only on the range but I find taking a couple of catapult swings prior to the shot helps me to release my tension and groove my tempo. Thank you!

Like the vid. Monte Scheinblum has a vid “no turn, cast drill” from 2013. In it he tells you to deliberately try and cast the club. Found it is actually impossible to deliberately cast, the body wont let you. Bit like trying to hits shank deliberately- it’s not easy. Certainly feels more like the catapult you describe. Only works if you get the club head behind the pivot though. Makes me think much more about club head in space going back rather than wrists hinges, elbows, knees and shoulders etc etc much easier to take on the course
@DanielMaude

Absolutely the best type of swing for me. I' was 200 m away from the green on a par 5 which I never had before it was longest drive for women in a competition unfortunately I was beaten by just 20m ..even at my own club I'm outdriving some of the ladies who would normally have a longer drive than me.

Danny, thank you for this video. I've been using it primarily with my drives and I instantly saw almost 40yds added to my drive. I was averaging 230yds and instantly my average has increased to 265-270 and I've broken 300 several times now with my longest drive being 308yds. The "feel" of the club head speed is massive and as long as I strike the ball true - it's going to go. I'm currently working to do the same with my irons.

This is just genius. I've had lessons over the past few years but nobody even mentioned something like this. It's been, rotation rotation, use the ground, you need to generate more speed, but how? This lesson just makes so much sense. I tried rotating to generate speed but I wasn't letting the club go like this and hit pulls and pull hooks more often than not. Just standing up and swinging a club this way you can feel the difference right away. You can actually hear the sound the club makes and it just feels so much faster and takes less effort. Can't wait for spring here in Canada so I can actually hit balls using this training concept.

So glad I watched this video Danny, I’ve seen numerous other You Tube videos describing this “catapult method” but I just didn’t really ‘get it’. They left me wondering how is this relevant because a catapult uses stored elastic energy, and there is definitely no significant elastic energy happening in the golf swing. Your excellent video demonstrates the technique clearly and helped me appreciate that the term ‘catapult method’ is actually a misnomer because the technique uses centrifugal force and not elastic energy to produce power.A more accurate description for the technique would be the ‘Sling Method’. The term ‘catapult’ and its association with elastic energy’ had been a barrier to me understanding this technique until I watched your video. Keep up the great work Danny, you have a rare ability and gift for teaching golf. Your videos are much appreciated.

this is an absolutely genius way of explaining the swing. I get stuck in periods when I come over the top and hit pulls. When I hit it well I hit my irons one club longer and my driver 10 to 15 yards longer and am not sure why. When I start to lose it I start thinking too much too many swing thoughts and my game goes out the window. Being able to use this swing thought just simplifies the things so well. It's amazing how much the ball affects the mind when swinging. When I practice this "delay" method, without the ball there, it works great. The swing flows feely and through. As soon as I put the ball in front on me I start trying to hit the ball instead of through the ball.

I can totally relate Pilgrim! I have started to practice with the last thought before starting my swing is "swing through to the finish " and it helps me to not think about just hitting the ball. When I swing through to the finish, I relax and find myself releasing after impact,plus my weight shifts to my lead foot, I bring my club all the way around into a proper finish position. When I swing through to the finish, I'm getting the free flowing swing that Danny is promoting, with the catapult effect.

Ive always tried to shoot or pull the hands thru first, sometimes it worked but mostly not. I love the common sense feel which gets me out the "attack angle, degree of swing technical thinking which causes the tightness and horrid play. Hands leading the way via catapult feel is how baseballs are hit, hockey pucks smashed, trees axed down etc. Thanks for the common sense Danny, the body will get to where its supposed to be without being technical, CATAPULT..... awesome sir

Brilliant as usual Danny and can't wait to get back on the course to try this. You sorted out my driver (for the most part) with your tip to turn the head 30 degrees at address. You more for less sorted out my topping the fairway woods. Now for my irons, which used to be brilliant, but I seem to have lost the follow through to a full finish. I used to hit the middle of my back quite hard but now find it never happens - maybe age but I can still do a full turn on the back swing. You make it look all so easy to hit an 8 iron 160 (which is the distance the pro's at the Master's were using) with so little effort. We mere mortals can only dream but we do try.....

I'm a lefty that used to have a nasty snap hook. Over the last two years I have been teaching myself this same swing, and the results have been to go from hitting 5-6 fairways to now hitting 9-12 per round, and have nearly completely eliminated the right side of holes. I'm longer now, and have more consistent scoring now too. My one thought, when I need one, is to make sure both elbows are "locked" through the ball (bottom of the swing). It's a small timing thing to cast the club into the back of the ball - makes the swing MUCH easier.

This is why a golf round can go from bad to worse. The bad shot creates tension. More tension creates another bad shot. The cycle repeats, with player getting ever more nervous and tense, when a relaxed swing is needed for success.

Danny, thanks much for this video. I've been fascinated with your suggestion of an effortless swing for a couple of years. But didn't appreciate how to create the mechanics in my swing in a way that I could feel what you're describing. My fault. But I stumbled on an idea recently about practicing this move using my left arm only, I'm right handed. Instead of building my downswing with both arms, I do practice swings with my left arm then add my right arm. Previously I've let my right arm power the swing by engaging my right pec muscles. This caused an out to in swing which was a real challenge. But starting with my left arm and swinging in a catapult motion that you describe has really changed my swing outcomes. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for your help.

Practiced this at the range today. I was one of those drop the club down guys. I immediately saw gains in all my clubs, hard to tell exactly how much further the ball went, but a guess with my scoring irons would be about 5 yards or so. Next time out, I'll break out my launch monitor for more exact gains. Also, I felt much more relaxed compared to my old swing, and I thought I was pretty relaxed then..haha. Thanks Danny.

While I haven’t tried this yet (just seeing it) it does make sense. As a baseball pitcher there is a moment where you step away from the ball as the ball is still or moving back then the rotation of the body whips, or catapults the arm /ball towards your target.

Tried this on range after becoming very frustrated with my game and swing. Went out and shot 74 after and was effortlessly hitting 2-3 yard draws on every shot. This really freed me back up so that I could play golf and not play golf swing. I'm 52 and my body never feels the same one day to the next. This method and drill will help get my swing relaxed and loose so I can cut it loose

I love how your lessons build upon each other. I'm still focusing on your proper hip motion lesson, It allows me to get the club behind me as you show in this lesson and then the motion of my left hip clearing and leading the downswing gives the catapult sling. I call it swinging from the ground up because that is the feel that works for me. I do still struggle with proper plane and ball position. Thanks.

Now with a little practice of your catapult swing I’m gaining confidence and hitting my 7 iron 155 instead of 130 yards. At 78 I now am moving to Myrtle Beach to experience what I have always dreamed of...playing a decent game and hoping people will now say...” He is a ball striker!” Thanks, for finally figuring out and being able to explain how to stop coming over the top.
