I compiled a list of Danya’s sayings: - When you find a good move, look for a better one - Don’t let your bishop bite on granite - Your pieces don’t always have to be conquering Mount Everest/ distributing the Covid vaccine - The threat is stronger than the execution - When your opponent plays passively, strike in the center - No need to reinvent the wheel, just develop pieces normally - Bad bishops defend good pawns - You want to perform a task with the piece of least possible value - Sometimes your knights need to go to Frankfurt airport - Keep the tension - Something something potential energy - Queen should be the supporting actress - Loose pieces drop off - A Type 1 Undefended Piece is a piece that is not protected by any other pieces. - A Type 2 Undefended Piece is a piece that is only protected by one other piece (Overloading tactics arise from this) - An outpost is not inherently good - When you’re considering a multiple-move tactic, try flipping the order - If your opponent tries to stop your idea, ask yourself the Sam Shankland Question: What if I do it anyway? - Doubled pawns aren’t inherently bad - Lastly: Rules are meant to be broken

After the analyse I think Daniel was pretty sure as well. But as a KZbin streamer and respected chess player he just can't take the risk of falsely accuse someone. Let's say it turned out the opponent was indeed a GM playing incognito, then he would look like a really bad looser. And he did not want to take that risk.

you see some people just don't live a good life, so what do they do? randomly accuse people online, I've faced a fair share of cheaters myself and the biggest giveaway is the move time (cheating if it's consistent) and people refraining from making obvious moves, not the accuracy.

In this kind of game I would say 98% accuracy means he's a cheater or a GM. But looking at his profile and game statistics (even before he got banned) shows he is not at GM level. It would be different if he scored this high against an opponent that didn't play as good as Daniel did, and that he got a material advantage early in the game. Then it's much easier to score high on accuracy.

Hey Danya, I really enjoy your videos. It was awesome watching you play from a difficult position. Your daily videos have replaced TV in my life! I have a question: One of the lessons I learned from you r speedrun is to not "instantly" recapture pieces, but to always look for a better move. At 28:58 in the analysis, you recaptured the knight on E5 with your pawn, but there was an intermediate move. Could you have played RD2 first? This seems to lead to a better position for black, because the resulting line puts white's queen in a worse position, allowing you to move to QA3 with tempo, threatening H3 and A2. White is considerably more restricted in the movement of his queen here, because giving up H3 or A2 allows you to open the position and force white's rook off of the fifth rank. Any thoughts on this?
@johnbolt38833 жыл бұрын
I’ve just explored both lines with the aid of an engine, both seem to be a draw. There are some very unintuitive moves for black in the variation you mention (queen trading to a get a triple pawn structure, for example), but both seemed very practically difficult to play. The draw in the second line takes a long time, too, so is much harder to spot (even the rough outline of it). In the line Danya played, best move for white after fxe5 is Rxe5. Opponent played Rxd8, which leads to a faster draw. For practical play, you want moves like this where opponent has opportunities to more easily give up advantage. It is far from easy to see this difference far out, but it is possible Danya could see some lines that seemed quite drawish with his variation and decided to go for it, without necessarily calculating the alternative fully. More likely though, is that he saw both were quite similar and just decided to go with one over the other. I’m evaluating with Lichess stock fish, so it is possible some ideas are being missed here.

@NordicRest3 жыл бұрын
The Caro is a strong, reliable opening for all levels of play up mid-GM. Even then, its only weakness is that it's balanced and equal. As for getting closed positions, that's often the nature of the advanced Caro. My biggest tip is to remember the keystone of most advanced Caro positions: aim for d4. Pile on the pressure, and wait for your opponent to do something stupid. It's often not on d4 itself, but a tactic arriving from a poor attempt at defending d4.
@Doughcrates5643 жыл бұрын
Beginner here but i play the caro almost exclusively and from my experience, it gives really good endgames which most opponents at my level cannot handle. In addition if they try to avoid endgames and get a bit too aggressive, they can blunder so easily. I think this is true even for intermediate and even higher levels to some extent since ive seen so many games where even masters end up blundering.
@musan90793 жыл бұрын
Depends on your playstyle and how you enjoy chess, I'm also not keen on closed positions Kings Indian attack/defence, London system, ruy Lopez etc, French defence I prefer open positions, and enjoy such positions generally Karo Kann is a fine opening though objectively,
@kevin-70913 жыл бұрын
It's a good opening, and quite popular in GM levels. However, the early game of Caro-Kann is much trickier than d4 or e4, there's quite a few critical ideas that you need to keep an eye on or you will end up in a very passive position
@GMBethHarmon3 жыл бұрын
The implication here is that closed positions are bad, which is certainly not true. If you get into time scrambles and struggle, you can: a) play a little bullet to get used to them b) play longer games/games with significant increment, so they aren't really a factor.

That was one dirty draw. But nice desperado trick.

I had to stop the game portion of the video and take a break… 3 times! I could smell the wood burning (meaning my brain overheating). It took quite a bit for me to follow, as much as I could anyway. Thank you so much GM Danya for both your sincerity and clarity. You have a wonderful character, young man!

Where Danya said C5 was the only move, I've seen rook f e8 and knight f8 recommended in that set up. I wonder if the computer would've like that? The knight has some good options from f8.
