It makes sense why this was such a blow to fulgrims pride, think about it. Rylanor was trapped in deep beneath Istvann III surface and had lain their for Man Emperor knows how long, hasn't seen or talked to another sentient being. Probably went insane a couple of times before finally leveling his head, then when he finally gets to take his revenge against the monster wearing his fathers skin like a suit he was able to convince 3 traitors to return to the Man Emperors light with out even trying And fulgrim is supposed to be the most charismatic person in the galaxy second only to the Emperor.

That is not what happened. Rylanor's Stand inspired the Thousand Sons Marines present, but it in no way Redeemed them. They were still Traitor through & through. That's why people love the story, someone who was SO Loyal and proud to be Loyal that Traitor's remembered what that was like for themselves and to some degree very much wish they could again be so themselves. They allowed Rylanor to take his best shot at a Primarch, knowing it would kill them also.

Fulgrim is obsessed with telling and retelling the stories of his glory. If he wishes to portray his life perfectly in theater, then he will have to relive that denial forever. The other option is to omit that detail, but that would leave Fulgrim’s story incomplete and therefore imperfect. It’s literally impossible for him to forget rylanor’s defiance, and therefore it is as serious as wound as a stab to the gut for Fulgrim. Fuckin bastard deserves it tho lol

I mean ngl the scene was absolutely epic, and he was more of defiant, horrified, and utterly disgusted Had the thousand sons not slowed down everything he may well have actually detonated the virus bomb, and while it would not have killed fulgrum, it would have certainly put him on a level rylanor could fight. In any situation, having one of the people you genuinely wanted to have at your side even after 10 thousand years despise you so much they dont even try to do anything except kill you certainly would wound his pride. Perhaps not as much as the thousand sons, but Rylanor would certainly leave a wound on him.

When I first heard the Tale of Rylanor the Ancient of Rites, it immediately became one of my favorite stories in the setting. It is, to me, the prefect encapsulation of Betrayal and Vengance in a single short story. This was very well done. I am definitely going to have to check out more of your videos.

To answer some of the questions (Even though, you seem to have done some of your own research already, just to cover bases). A Dreadnought is essentially a walking, mechanised coffin. Instead of a great warrior dying they are placed in a dreadnought, to continue 'living' and serving the imperium. (The main faction in the setting) A Primarch is sort of a demi-god. One of twenty sons of the God-Emperor. A virus bomb is a but more self explanatory. It is a bomb that releases a 'life-eater virus' that consumes all life it comes in contact with, wiping a planet clean. and, as for the figures, assembling them can be a bit fiddly, but it can be very fun to assemble and paint them! Though, accidentally buying one as a child would be a bit frustrating, indeed! Otherwise, I absolutely suggest delving into the universe. I couldn't even hope to brush the tip of the iceberg here when it comes to explaining the world of Warhammer 40k. You could delve for months into the characters, worlds, history and lore and have an amazing time doing so! Well if the Emperor is right and even a POS like Mortarion can be redemeed then all bets are off, anyone can be brought back that being said and just with the contents of the story you have to consider also that a quick death by the bomb was the best those sorcerers could ever hope to get of that situation, I can't imagine the kind of horror Fulgrim would had inflicted upon them so their choice must also had been influenced to some degree by that and not just a complete denial of Chaos as a whole in their souls and minds.

it impressive how a 10 thousend old dread had so much hatred for it primarch it even managed to survive alone in the deep of a broken world, repair one of the warhead that brought the world to an end, make a distress beacon out of is corrupted brother weapon, all that whit one hand survive the entire time out of spite, even though the very system that holding him alive is killing him at that point just to activate the warhead in the face of is gene father, in a last moment of pure hatred for him and making 3 immortal sorceres choose to sacrifice there eternal life to help the dread spite on his father

The best of any warrior. The most noble of any warrior. The Rememberer. Holder of Rites. Falsehood tales long destroyed through his sacrifice in the search of truth. Rylanor deserved better than this and yet his death is poignant. Normally revenge is such a petty squabble between 2 bitter people but this was about setting a standard of no-tolerance towards Chaos. The Emperor guides Rylanor's spirit even in death I assure you all. His ability to honour the truth and nothing but was what helped him earn NOT force the sway of these Thousand Sons sorcerers. He earned their respect and they in tow payed what they believed to be penance. This is possibly one of the best interactions in the entire Warhammer franchise, Fantasy and Sigmar included. Reminder he EARNED the respect of CHAOS sorcerers WHILE FULGRIM THE CHARISMATIC was stood right there. It was a blow to Fulgrims pride AND charisma all in one. The Emperor 1000% didn't let Rylanor's spirit die he lives on somewhere past the materium I believe it.

I think this is one event broke Fulgrim. The idea that he may not be right in his pursuit after all. That Ancient Rylanor stood defiant with such vengeful honor that he managed to make 2 Traitor marines turn on Fulgrim scarred Fulgrim for his entire life. The very idea that his pursuit of perfection may not be correct after all.
