I remember the beginning of Fear to Tread. Horus comforting his brother who'd just killed one of his sons. These little moments make the treachery more and more tragic

Horus said he won't die, and he was right. Yeah, erased into an oblivion where even his soul is lost forever, but not dead.

Sanguinus already knew he was going to die because his foresight, but unlike Konrad he knew he was the master of his own destiny. His vision showed him two scenarios if he won he'd be consumed by the black rage and try to kill Big E and other Horus kills him and E destroyed Horus's soul. He decided to sacrifice himself for the Emperor.

Its kinda weak sauce tho. When you think about it. His “foresight” made it so that no matter what he did he wouldn’t die until he faced Horus. Of course id face kabanda. Of course id fly around recklessly killing all enemies. Of course id do all with no repercussions cuz at the end of the day. Fate has been sealed. Its tragic. And also a out… shit if i knew how i will die id allow myself so much freedom.

​@@JD-td6oh No, you miss the problem of his Future Vision. Even Sanguinius said it himself, he does not know when he dies or how he dies, he only knows who will kill him. Meaning, he can't just dive in everybattle knowing that he is immortal. Cause if he is extremely weakened, the possibility of Horus coming to kill him is still possible. Or how about the fact that his enemy would capture him, beating him to a pulp. Then dragging him to Horus as a sacrifice. Or what about Horus being summoned or teleported on the battle. Horus will kill Sanguinius, that is true. But it does not state when, how, or why. Meaning, it's like knowing that you'll die to a stab. Sure a dude with a gun can't kill you, but how sure are you that he won't suddenly find a knife and kill you? How sure are you that he has no hidden knife? Sanguinius wasn't just riding his prophecy, because even Horus himself says it, Sanguinius has escaped fate many times. It is a permutation of possibilities which Sanguinius managed to change due to his sheer will and power. So, no, you can't blame his Future Vision for all his feats, cause any of them could've crushed him and offered him to Horus.

Me too. It took me a week to listen to that chapter. The calls for Sanguinius at the beginning where amazingly dreadful to hear as a BA fan.

Hoo, what a clip! You had me filled with dread the entire time; the narration and the ambiance had me absolutely _spellbound._ I could feel my heart pounding against my chest from beginning to end, even though I know what is to come; the end result of this final clash between brothers who once held each other so dear. You are going to break my heart by the end of this series. I do love how you did Horus's voice; so suffused with malice and arrogance, a fitting choice for the Everchosen Champion of Chaos Undivided, yet gradually adopts an undertone of weariness and sorrow, as his dialogue with Sanginius goes on. He truly does want his brother by his side, and not to kill him. That single tear, potentially the last tear Horus Lupercal, Primarch of the XVIth Legion Sons of Horus, formerly the Luna Wolves, the First-Found and once Favorite of all of the Emperor's Sons, will ever shed, speaks more than a thousand words. Speaking of the Luna Wolves, I wonder if we might get some Garviel Loken moments in the future.

Beautiful. So well read. This moment reminds me of the scene in Apocalypse Now; where Cpt Willard finally meet Colonel Kurtz. I think they based Horus’s look on Kurtz too. This dialogue could have gone on longer but I guess the siege of Terra was raging but…still a lil longer, a few more analogies or line’s exchanged. Can’t wait for part 2!!!

In Unremembered Empire (I think) Guilliman had thrones made for all his brothers so they could all sit together as equals, as brothers, after the Great Crusade was finished. Here, Horus has thrones made for the brothers that sided with him, including one for Sanguinius. It's an interesting parallel. Despite everything, despite Chaos twisting his mind, his brothers, and their sons, Horus still desires to be among equals with his brothers. And the sad thing is deluded enough that he believes that he can still have it.
