Would you please get into the mechanics of explosivenss? I understand there's more to it than just trying to go faster in your movements, but also in the path of movements & the manner you go about them. I even heard that it helps to practice thinking quicker!

Dan lok is to me one of the best instructors I've seen so far, keep up the great work. What I like about him he tells you that you have to master the technique and it takes years to master these techniques and he break it down every little movement he shows you and he's real honest with you.

your videos been helping alote man, they have taught me so much. I have 10 years of experience in boxing/mma off and on. Wing chun and jeet kun do is incredible, it is a totally different concept. alote of people say it dont work but I can tell you when im sparring Ill throw a little bit of what ive learned in the mix and it totally throws an mma fighter off guard. It is how you use the techniques that make them effective. keep making the videos. Respect

It really helps that you have the MMA and boxing background to give you the competitive understanding too. The concepts are sound and found in many different arts, but the experience is always a must to make it work. If nothing else, maintaining event integrity in practice so you can see where you're failing at something. But glad to see someone that has opened up to more traditional systems and found some good out of them :)

Bruce Lee abandoned Wing Chun after the fight that lasted under 5 min against a tai chi master named Wong Jack Man. Modern JKD says let them have the lane they want to fight over and hit them from a indirect position. (AKA Change lanes and strike!) Fighting over lanes gets you killed in real life. That is the difference of conceptual JKD based on wing chun vs Modern JKD after the Wong Jack Man fight. After that fight Bruce knew he had to remove all the wing chun from JKD. That is when he went to fencing and bare knuckle boxing. Jack Dempsey showed bruce in letters why you want to use your dominant hand as the lead and that matched the fencing books Bruce was reading from his brother house. Brandon and Shannon Lee learned from Ted Wong (AKA Modern JKD) and not Dan Inosanto! (AKA Conceptual JKD) WHO you learn from and lineage is more important that the art is self.

I need to do practice at home, by myself! Since one month i tried to find a good virtual trainer, good videos in youtube in order to improove my kung-fu skills. I'm happy you brought up how these stances does not work in today's society, but is meant as a reminder on how Wing Chun is supposed to be performed. I myself has practiced Wing Chun for years, but I still find myself developing new skills through being realistic that some things just wont work in a real fight situation. Standing in the Yee JI Kim Yeung Ma is a spiritual connection between you and the art.

I too am interested in more wing chun videos. I really like seeing the connections with JKD and applications and have been practicing blending them with my skills. What I have learned and felt, and internalized thus far is that your triangle stance builds rooting and structure so you can lower the center of gravity and learn stability in any direction. You also practice rotational energy and tension but also relaxation. Also it helps you to develop stability so regardless of what you do with the hands, arms, elbows, movements, etc. you don’t overcommit and you stay balanced. Plus the siu lim tau form trains centerline principles. In time your feet, calves, legs, etc are able to stay relaxed but rooted well, so you can move, pivot, explode, but quickly restore balance and stability for any strike, push, pull, etc..It is best to practice it barefoot or with totally flat shoes so you train your feet sensitivity too. I have never considered myself an ‘athlete ‘ over time, but since training wing chun I have much better balance, posture, power, reflexes, and peace. Stance and stepping may not seem “cool” but if you build it well, it supports everything else better. Then in chum kiu you start learning pivoting and stepping, and drilling your stance into the groung for power and stability. Then in biu gee there are explosive movements, more turning, recovering, two directional force, whole body synchronization, etc. I could go on and on... just thought of one more tip, another student would say at school, when you are losing your balance, just sink a bit more. That lowers the center of gravity a bit and will allow better power, stability, etc. Dan your channel keeps on bringing the good instructions, thank you.

I recall taking karate lessons at my local boys and girls club during my 6th and 7th grade. We learned a simiar stance and looking back on that time, while I believe our Sensei meant well, our classes felt like a game of telephone. Either way it was a good foundation for self-defense and discipline. I'll follow your teachings and practice along with the rest of the globe. Thank you, Sifu.

5:25 I like to say that Forms are the Alphabet of Wing Chun. The first form is teaching you the Alphabet. The 2nd form is teaching you how to use those words in a sentence. 3rd and 4th form are teaching you new ways to speak and how to spell. Speaking should be natural, we don't spell out every single word we say to someone. We let it flow off our tongue. Thus, how can you do talking hands (Fighting and sparring) if you do not know the ABC's of the language?

I am going to be 67 and wish to find a discipline to improve fitness, defense, and relieve stress. I have never seriously studied any Martial Arts. Am I too old?. The Wing Chung Art impresses me. More fluid and I believe I have noticed that being a body builder is necessary

Added tip to make sure people preserve their knees. If you don't turn the leg right to achieve the stance, the knees when pinched are being pulled out of line with the rest of the leg making the stance weak and causing damage over time to your knee joints. Make sure you rotate from within the hip socket, so the knees are reangled inward, and when your weight relaxes downward the knees will catch you by pinching together. Makes you a lot more stable than if you just pinch the knees. This is ideally achieved when you rotate into the stance on your heel to point the toes inward but we all move a little differently and achieve the same appearance in different ways. This was a mistake I made for a long time and came to understand in time, so I'd just like to share the revelation with others in hopes that they can improve their own methods as well and prevent future health problems.
