For people who don’t know much about old Minecraft times: Minecraft 2 was actually planned to come out somewhere around the versions that made your game slowly get more and more laggy, this was to get people to stop playing the original and play the new one, and Minecraft 2 after a while of not being released, was scrapped, and a few updates after in Minecraft from that point the game-gets-laggier feature was removed, as well as the Super Secret Settings, which also made your game unplayable faster

To be entirely fair Danno just because Notch doesn’t have any specific legal rights doesn’t mean it won’t be good especially since he literally made the original game before it was sold to Microsoft additionally even though it wouldn’t legally count as a sequel it would feel that way to fans as even though Mojang still have legal rights to Minecraft the game doesn’t give the same vibes as the old notch versions of the game additionally Mojang have tried making other games under the Minecraft title and other than Minecraft story mode which died due to licensing issues they’ve had very limited success in that field with the recent Minecraft dungeons being cancelled entirely only a few years after release and Just months after Minecraft legends released the online service for the game stopped receiving content updates permanently so….. additionally 4j studios who also briefly developed Minecraft(for console specifically) are also trying to make a Minecraft inspired game this one containing a majority of popular Minecraft mechanics that are important to gameplay like collecting blocks and placing blocks

There is a different between Notch and Alexey Pajitnov. Both of them made the best selling games based on cubes. The difference is that Notch made a lot of controversial moments in his career while Alexey Pajitnov stayed very humbled and got his well deserved royalties with his friend named Henk Rogers. In other words, Notch is not going to make Minecraft 2 and Alexey deserves everything he’s done in his career.
