damn this is kinda disappointing, but i guess it's kind of expected. new leaf's music was a lot more ominous because of how relaxing it's supposed to be contrasted with the story behind aika village. new horizons's music just doesn't hit as hard for anything really. this is my opinion but the graphical limitations of the 3ds also really helped to set the scene, as it was a bit blurry, which made the chaos of the village stand out as your character essentially blends into the setting. the biggest issue is probably how big new horizons's islands are now. it's harder to fit one idea into such a massive area, in which the creator decided to add in different villages, yet sort of losing the atmosphere in the process. this is a personal thing, but i think the original had areas that are way more memorable than the new one does. i can still remember the maze of trash clearly with the exact soundtrack playing while exploring. i don't there's anything like that in the new version, which is unfortunate, as there is still a lot of potential that could be used.

I’m pretty sure there’s a lot of symbolism behind all of the random stuff in both Aika towns however it’s hard to find any good explanations around the internet (for me that is). I still agree the new leaf one was better or rather more easier to get a basic grasp of the story even though you’re supposed to interpret it to whatever you think it is

There are multiple story theories for the island but I think the story is about how the little girl had a nice calm life or so she thought she was blinded by the love of her parents who didn’t actually love her the scene with the cello was them selling the heart crystals or their love for her, the daughter slowly realizes her life is going badly and goes insane therefore her life gets shorter because she wants it gone.

Finally someone agrees with me! Never played new leaf but I watched a few play it especially on Aika village. This one honestly didn't seem as scary or well made as the original one in my opinion. It didn't give a sense of mystery it just seemed like random crap thrown together quickly to get it out on time, which I assume it was to get it out the day of the updates release. That's my opinion but I just don't think it looks scary at all.
