In a discussion about the closing of BBC television centre (big mistake) Danny Baker tells Michael Grade that they should leave things as they are and that they blundered once for so called financial reasons in the sixties and seventies by wiping hundreds of editions of Top of the pops - which now would be worth millions -
They wiped all but around 6 editions from the sixties and a couple of hundred editions from the early seventies - erasing performances from the likes of the Beatles, rolling Stones, Abba (recently rediscoved) The Who, Dusty Springfield, Bob Dylan, Ike and Tina Turner. Pink Floyd, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Marvin Gaye Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie - the list goes on
