This is the first time I've ever seen Danny Bhoy. Brilliant. The fact that Michael McIntyre and Sarah Millican are household names and Danny isn't is a travesty.
@austenhead53034 жыл бұрын
Dude, I agree that Danny Bhoy should be a lot bigger than he is, but Sarah Millican is fucking hilarious and should ALSO be even bigger than SHE already is. Danny Bhoy is good - Sarah is better. By a good margin. (I'm not really familiar with McIntyre outside of chat shows, so eh.)

Now I know why he's hilarious. He doesn't tell jokes, he's telling anecdotes. People relate cause they've been there too. AWESOME..!!

@@EndlessSummer888 I read somewhere that Danny Bhoy cites Billy Connelly as his main influence and every now and then, that shines through beautifully :-) Telling stories, not jokes.

Bit of trivia: Most hymns are actually religious words set to traditional folk tunes so no. The writers of the lyrics and the music never collaborated as they usually lived centuries apart. This is also why Ding Dong Merrily On High is so bloody dumb with that "Gloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooria" line that goes on for 300 bars.

Aye, "I Vow To Thee, My Country" is a poem far older than the music. In fact, that music is actually Holst's "Jupiter" from the Planet suite.

That's only because many performances of Danny Bhoy have been recorded. A lot of his shows have been recorded 2, 3 or more times and most of this has been put up on KZbin, so you might find the same joke many times, from different shows in different places.
@trixcentrix12 жыл бұрын
The reasons why he's funny: 1. He doesn't use the typical racist lines that most comedians use. 2. He talks about a breadth of topics. ( Most comedians can be categorised into two subject lines based on the general make up of their lines : Race and Dirty Sex / Smut ) 3. Witty observations 4. Great delivery : Engaging storyteller ( see " Queen of England " )

The reason (at least here in Sweden) as for why the lyrics and music never "add up" is because the church took already excisting songs for their hymns, so that the people would already know how the music went. Usually it was old folk-songs or drinking songs. Which is quite funny I think ^^
