As a young Everton skinhead in the late 60's and early 70's, I always saw Eccles as Chelsea's top man. Public enemy number 1 you might say. I really enjoyed that, and Danny was very funny. Great stuff.

The biggest difference between 70/80s and now is communication due to cell phones. Back in the day, there was frequent surprises where you went round a corner and bumped into another London firm coming the other way - especially when traveling on the underground.

While everyone was fighting over football those who control England told us they were going to destroy the country with mass immigration: FOOTBALL, beer, and above all, gambling, filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult George Orwell

Danny Harkins is one of the nicest blokes you could wish to meet. My first ever game was at the Bridge was 1968. We beat Leicster I think. I do remember Tommy Baldwin scored an hat-trick. It was the smell that I remember the most. That smell of the burger sellers as you walked along the Fulham Road from the Broadway. I was only 8. My dad had died a few weeks earlier. So I went by myself. Eventually I made a few lifelong friends and the rest as they say is old man talk! Fuck but I ain't thought about some of that stuff for years. Cheers boys. R.I.P Martin. angie ~ Yeah, Before the Chelsea Headhunters Chubby Chris & The Combat 84 crew used to be available. it reminded me of when a time when Chubby Chris was Talking about Smashing & Trashing up the Extreme Leftist Band Called the RedSkins. The RedSkins had taken up dressing like Skinheads & were giving it the Big’en in the music press, slagging off Patriots. So when the British Movement announced a Attack on the open air festival where the RedSkins were playing. Many different individuals Took note, Before Long the Chelsea Combat 84 crew wanted a piece of the action, As did the Last Resort Skinheads Lead by Nicky Crane. On the Day the B.M Skins, led by ‘Mick Mac’ McAndrews, A Movement activist & Skinhead D.J , Met up with the Chelsea Combat 84 crew and slaughtered the Commie Scum as they wreaked havoc upon the RedSkins Stage, & all who dared to challenge them. So with thousands watching, the Nationalist firm of Skinheads attacking the stage and smashed the band with bottles, Boots & Fists, putting two in hospital. The Famous Skinhead battle cry of “SiEL HEiL” rang out over the microphones of the Taken RedSkins Stage around Jubilee Gardens on the south bank of the Thames. The Nationalist Skinheads then turned on to their communist enemies in the crowd, Who Bottled it, Panicked & ran like hell trampling over each other to get away from the fracas. In the mean time another large group of Skinheads who had assembled at the Last Resort Shop made their mark on the other stage with The Leftist Hank Wangford band. Wading around on the stage with cider bottles another group of Patriots stopped their Nonsense. Daily newspaper reports showed Nicky Crane & co. On the stage with bottles in hand. One London paper ran a story of the smashing of the RedSkins & featured a picture of Skrewdriver guitarist Adam Douglas wrecking the stage.

Antony ware ~ Yeah, Youth Culture History is fascinating especially the Skinhead era & the start of smart clothes with designer labels on the terraces. i was a Skinhead from 1979 - 1987 & throughout the Late 1970’s & early 1980’s Skinhead & Punk was big news in Britain. Particularly every kid in your class was a Skin or Punk, Bands Like Sham69, Madness, Stiff Little Fingers, Skrewdriver, Slodge, The Cockney Rejects Were all in the Top Ten at the 100 Club & Skunx (Skins & Punx) Were regular venues for Skinheads & Bands. So Along with the growth of Punk in 1977/78 there had also been a steady increase in Racial violence. The mainstream media blamed this on the violent youth & the violent music (Punk/Oi!) That they were listening to. Of course the fact that every major city & town was now overrun with immigrants had nothing to do with it whatsoever, & the fact that most of the Punk Bands were Left-Wing Especially The Clash & The Tom Robinson Band, Also didn’t seem to matter as the media launched it’s very own cure, A musical umbrella movement called “ROCK AGAINST RACISM” Working alongside the GLC (Greater London Council) the RAR Movement Organised quite a few festivals in & around London. in response to this Patriotic Right Wing launched it’s very own musical umbrella movement called “ROCK AGAINST COMMUNISM” & Started To Organise their Own shows & mini festivals. At that time following on from the Southhall Race Riots, Where are angry mob of Asians burnt down the Hanborough Tavern Because the 4-Skins were playing & lots of Skinheads turned up to see their favourite band. So after the Riot Skinheads weren’t really welcome anywhere, & the R.A.C Movement was Just what the scene needed. A self motivated, underground gig scene that attracted over 500+ Thirsty people to each gig simply by word of mouth. THE NEW BREED HAD ARRIVED :- SKREWDRIVER, THE OVALTINEES, PETER & THE WOLF, BRUTAL ATTACK, A.B.H, LONDON BRANCH, & THE DIE HARDS Were the first to play under the ROCK AGAINST COMMUNISM Banner, These bands entertained & inspired us but only a couple of them gained any real notoriety.

@jamesguy103011 ай бұрын
RC-fw6ws ~ Yeah, i clearly remember the Southall Asian Race Riots where literally hundreds and hundreds of relentless Asian youth with petrol bombs burned down the Hambra Tavern public house & it’s back room where the 4-Skins played a Brilliant set. The Police could not cope with the sheer numbers of Asian thugs attacking that pub. So when the skinheads came running outside because the pub was on fire and stood side-by-side with the White Police Officers. They actually said thanks lads as they pushed back the Helped Push Back The Attack From the Muslims with a Constant assault with petrol bomb that eventually burnt down the pub to the ground. I remember that after that Skinheads really weren’t welcome anywhere & so when the Ovaltinees & Skrewdriver Started the underground Rock Against Communism Scene we Loved it because we could all be ourselves amongst like ourselves. i hope that people reading this will understand my recollections of those days are ones with extremely great & Happy Memories. Many of the people who now support the White Pride Skinhead Scene Maybe completely unaware of what the period from 1980 to 1984 was actually like. So at first the OVALTINEES formed in 1979 & their original name was called “WHITE YOUTH” The name only Lasted for one Gig as the venues closed their doors to us. They then recruited a new bass player & guitarist & decided to find the most non-offensive name that they could. So the OVALTINEES were born. (Note Ovaltine is a Hot milk drink that became popular during the Second World War) it was promoted by young white children so they booked gigs at Local venues & because they had a lot of support they had no problems finding venues. They were friendly with the mainstream Oi! Oi! Bands Splodge & they supported them & the Toy Dolls on various occasions. This may seem unbelievable now but you must understand that at that time there was NO organised opposition to us & the Clubs were prepared to accommodate us. Especially when we brought 500 thirsty Skinheads to every gig. The Ovaltinees were regularly performing twice a week in London venues like the 100 Club, Skunks & Gossips They accommodated us between 1980 & 1982 when they had interest from music papers such as Melody Maker, NME, & Sounds. However, the best band of all time in those days was SKREWDRIVER. They carried the flame moved the R.A.C Movement to the next Level. Ian Stuart, Like many Young men dreamed of a career in Rock’n’Roll but when in 1977 he formed Skrewdriver, A Punk Group Based in North West England, No-One could have predicted the rollercoaster ride that he was about to endure. With two singles and an album recorded Skrewdriver were heading for the dizzy heights of rock stardom, But when their concerts became battlegrounds & gained the band a reputation that saw them Banned from London venues, Disowned by their record label and slaughtered in the mainstream music press most people would have put it down to experience & shuffled off into a Dystopian day Job. it is testament to the resilience of Ian Stuart, That against staggering odds he refused to be defeated. This Remarkable in-depth story is well documented in the fascinating book called “The Ian Stuart - Skrewdriver Biography” By Paul London. This Remarkable Story Records this Historical journey that started as a highly rated punk vocalist mixing with the Likes of = The Sex Pistols, Sham69, Bob Geldof, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Iggy Pop, Motörhead, Sting from the police, & Suggs From Chart toppers Madness, Right the way thru to National Front Demonstrators, British Movement Marches, NF paper sales, Ku Klux Klan Leaders in the U.S, & Top Skinhead Recruits for the Blood & Honour Organisation That he founded Back in 1987. The Record Shops refused to sell his albums, Yet they sold thousands, His Concerts were starved of any publicity, Yet even his enemies would admit that he could easily fill venues as big as the Royal Albert Hall. This Remarkable in-depth story traces his early beginnings in Blackpool through to his Murder as a National Socialist & Skinhead Legend in 1993. Yeah, we’ve all heard stories about rebellious rock stars, But this is a Truly unique account of a Rebel with a Cause, & one who Lived thru The Pain, Pressure, & Patriotic Pride that was his Life. So even if you Revile this Rock Movement, it’s ideas, & it’s music, This is still a very interesting & important piece of social & Youth culture history. i was a Skinhead from 1979 to 1987 & i used to go to all those Rock Against Communism gigs & i used to hang on to his every word. He changed my Life for the Better & Gave a Generation Of White Working Class Youth A Sense Of Pride & Belonging in our Once Great Nations. Ian Stuart Donaldson R.i.P The Truth Will Always Leak, No Matter What they Do, Our Hero Ian Stuart, We Salute You !

The squatter's of SW6 love to talk themselves up, in the early 80's Fulham lads took over the Waterford Arms which was a Chelsea boozer and not one Chelsea fan got in...... they waited for our escort to leave near kick off time and when we passed the Britannia all their boys all turned out by the North Stand funny thing is all the Chelsea boys that came from our estate just laughed at us......the blokes that came from outside the borough thought they were geezers.... until it was one on one.... Fulham had a small mob including Chubby Henderson in the early days, until he turned blue, funny days!!!!! We hated West Ham and when West Ham came to the Bridge they came in from the East Stand we joined up with the Chelsea in the Shed by the white wall and they attacked up the stairs if it had not been for us they would have got in the Shed!

You mug, the Chelsea lot from Kilburn were as hard-core as anyone, mainstay of Hickey unofficial supporters club.
