Been skating inline since 9yrs old. I did everything, slalom, freeskate, speed, urban aggressive but never halfpipe. Had traumatic experience both physcially and mentally with dropping in when I was 14. Never touched it again. Today, being a father and almost 30, I have officially learned to drop in. Jesus, how good that felt. I just dropped in. Thats it. Jesus how good that felt. So thanks a bunch Danny

Thanks Danny.I've watched lots of vids for this and always wanted you to do one so from this 50 year young bloke who has been at the skate park for about six weeks Thanks, I'm just getting used of the half pipe and I can drop in but I think I need more practice cause going backwards is a bit sketchy at times so I'm more practicing pumping up and down the half pipe and hopefully it will make me less nervous or sketchy in time. I would love to see more of your skate park vids when you aren't to busy. Thanks Heaps

51 year old here, first time at a skatepark at 49 (started skating at 48, never done it before). Like you I can now drop in ok, and pump and 180 in a halfpipe, but I find skating fakie very hard. Balance is shot, somehow. Nothing for it but practise and persistence I think. Good luck with your blading journey. Big up the old newbies!

i started skating at 26 (1 month ago) and i can drop in but its very difficult for me to stall or land a grind going up. and forget skating fakie on the half pipe .. i gotta practice my fakie more how he shows here by pumping for sure.

Great tips. I always wondered if I was right switching leg when going forward or backward. Basically it is always the same leg leading: right leg leading if going forward and right leg leading if going backward. A good idea of next video would be "how to stall and then slide on the coping".

Handy tips! But I think which foot you lead with is more determined by if you're regular or goofy footed. At least, it is for me. And because of this I don't switch my stance for forward or backward. But I learnt to blade half pipe in the early 90's after learning to skateboard half pipe in the 80's. My origins being in skateboarding is probably the reason.

Good Video, but I have one point: You say that we should 4:00 not do the drop in, before we are not able to come up on inline skates. But how do I come up to the pltaform? I am a little bit afraid of doing an involuntarily air - ;-)

@Maustah3 жыл бұрын
For me dropping in is easy. But I cant properly land on the ramp with my 2 skates on the coping. Want to keep my body postion in a 90degree angle, like you explain in the video. But at some point you have to transition to upright (make a litle jump?). this is where Iam unsure what to do with my body. Ussually have to much speed, and fly by the coping.

how to drop in with the 3 wheels?
@paulkerry55833 жыл бұрын
Great vid Danny. I 180 it slightly differently though and find it easier to go up with my right foot it front, 180 to the left, then come down with the left foot in front. This saves switching feet and also teaches to switch leading feet. I also prefer rolling up right foot first, then down backwards in the same position (left foot back) as again, it saves switching feet. Great video as usual though Danny, you make it look so ridiculously easy!!! I guess everyone teaches this slightly differently, but the basics like pumping etc are always the same 🙂🤙
