Think these have two modes, 400 bhp mode, and 500 bhp mode. i saw Zygrene do a whole review of one of these and he also concluded that it felt pretty gutless, turns out he didn't have the right button pressed :D.

Yep I had one for a year, fuel consumption was hilarious, spot on with the 12-15 mpg.

Nice color spec Interlagos Blue and Silverstone, folks geek out on the manual, me however like my SMG, you need to drive it like a manual, if you keep it sorted it’s a great transmission. IMO this vintage M5 is over the size and weight limit for a manual transmission.

A lot of that driving looks likey you were in p400 mode. The throttle bodies only own around 80%, that would explain the gutless feeling. Dont get me wrong, these do lack torque at the lower end and it is a lot of car to move, but in p500 it wouldn't feel gutless as such. One way to get around the torque issue is to do what I did and Supercharge it. Torque isn't really such an issue now.

@@dannyDC2 I've never driven an e9x to compare, but I have friends who have and they say the M5 is better lower down. If you fancy it next year once I've ironed a few bugs out of mine, if you fancy a go in an SMG supercharged car then I'd be happy to make the pilgrimage back up t' God's own country and let you have a shot.

P400 delivers almost the same power and torque as P500 up until 5,000rpm when the car heavily caps it, pinning the torque down significantly for the rest of the rev range and restricting the power. If you only drove it on P400 mode then you absolutely missed out the best on this car, but regardless you DO need to rev the car out to get the best out of it.

lol this was just a impromptu road test where the owner was gracious enough to let me take it for a drive. The roads weren’t ideal but we had errands to run Go watch any of my track footage And yes I drive a diesel but that shifts for me 🥳😇
