Yet another brilliant review. The bits with the toaster and using the base to turn got me good. Moza are on to a winner here, I reckon; providing 9nm as standard and not requiring an expensive hub adapter to run external rims (ie Rexing/Cube Controls) are some real good-guy moves, and with the addition of a solid industry-standard quickrelease they appear to have undercut Fanatec significantly. Good on 'em. Can't wait to get my R9 - see if you can get an affiliate link!

I've had my R9 and CS wheel for 3 weeks now. I haven't really customised the settings in Pithouse too much, but did find the size of the CS wheel a bit too large for me. To adapt, I have changed the steering to 450 degrees for ACC and 360 degrees for Raceroom and AMS2. This has been more to my liking. It would be nice to be able to get a smaller diameter wheel and may consider doing so in the future. I will have to look at some of the other customisation options in Pithouse that Danny alludes to.

I had a go with some Moza kit, I didn't like the feel either, R9 default settings, unfortunately I wasn't able to play with the setup. The pedals were different, very nicely finished and as they were setup, pretty good I liked them better than the V3's, and I loved the HGP shifter, I bought one rather than the SQ V1.5, and there are sequential mods if that's important to you. Impressive really, and given Fanatec's odd attitude towards customer service, it's very nice to have an alternative. I really like the CSL DD 8Nm, I changed the shaft clamp on day 1 and use it exclusively with the WRC/QR1 Lite because I prefer a round wheel and it's very lightweight and comfortable, buttons aren't the best but with magnetic shifter upgrade it gives highly detailed FFB, personally I haven't felt better in my limited experience. I'd like to retry the R9 with good settings and a similar weight wheel, I think it's a great alternative from a company that almost certainly has better customer service. Fanatec need to up their game, Moza are serious.

honestly I was torn between the Moza R5 bundle vs the Fanatec CSL DDP1 Bundle. Since both are at 5nm (5.5 for moza). But the P1 can be upgraded to 8NM with the boost kit. Now the Moza kit is like £529 in OCUK. The Fanatec... issue is they only ship from Germany. Its 559 Euro's without the table mount. Moza got table mount inclusive. But once the fanatec website picks up that you are in the UK or your address is. The price went down to 472 euro about 407 GBP. Because they removed the German VAT. But then once that enters UK, UPS will charge you the missing 20% VAT. I am still torn haha Bottom line is, the fact that a reputable company such as OCUK is selling Moza. Then it means Moza is a trusted company. Anyways, nice review! I really cannot wait to try Direct Drive.

The app will be essential if they ever get their console compatibility up and going. Console racers like myself don't even have a PC around that can be hijacked to use while racing. I use my wife's laptop to update firmware on my wheel and base, but that's not gonna fly if I want to have it hooked up every time I race. Hopefully Moza comes through on their ambition to make this console compatible very soon.

If Moza came or announced R9 just 6 months earlier, I wouldn't buy FanaShit DD 0.5 which had so many issues from the get go. When I got it, that collar wasn't tightened. But even when I took care of that, I had wheel disconnects daily. First 1 month of communication with their 1 week reply time. Then had to send everything back. They didn't do shit because I had the same problems when "they fixed it" and got it back. But it wasn't just that. I bought SCSport and never look back (this is not true, because wheel rims + button boxes are expensive). Unit R9 is so sleek and look so nice. GS wheel also look great and has everything I would want. And GS is 300mm, whereas FanaShit Formula is 270, which is too small for me.

I would think it is, but it might not yet be confirmed. If I can catch a moment in the coming days, I'll test it for you

hi!! very well video, making me very interested in getting one. Question, is the wheel base compatible with the sim lab p1x?
@dannyleeracing2 жыл бұрын
I imagine so if you opt for the wheeldeck type mount

this sounds like JUST THE PEDALS i have been looking for. BUT do you recommend I pair it with my Logitech Wheel G923 ? I have no complaints there but the pedals is where I needed upgrade
@dannyleeracing2 жыл бұрын
I say go for it - between the CSL and SR-P, the SR-P is much more approachable and flexible to me. You on PC?
@paulrubens30482 жыл бұрын
@@dannyleeracing yes I am on PC. thanks for your advice. Perhaps you can do a video on Bite Point adjustment, and how much travel to 100% on those pedals. :)

Hello! Thank you for this great review! I'm looking forward to switch to moza r9 from fanatec (csl dd) and i need to now a little detail, if you can help me! I want to now how csl pedals compare with those srp in terms of sound (when you bottom out the throttle and cluthch, and also when you release them). On my fanatec csl pedals i really needed to go with a 3drap zero noise mod because they were very loud(metal to metal contact), for my needs, at least... Thank you very much in advice!🙏
@dannyleeracing2 жыл бұрын
The SRP pedals are much quieter, definitely no noise complaints from me!

Do you still intended to make a video about the SR-P accessory kit? XD I would love to see it
@dannyleeracing2 жыл бұрын
You know what, I never got round to it - but I can tell you, it's too cheap not to throw in and it's so easy to change the inserts, it's worthwhile

Is it pronounced Fan-a-tec or fanatic (fan-nat-tic)? And while we’re talking pronunciations, The Australians pronounce this one Mozz-ah not Moe-zah…I prefer Moe-zah.

I'll def buy moza instead of fanatec, I heard fanatec cheaper models (DD) have problems with the quick-release locking mechanism

Now r12 is the way to go, because it fixed all the issues this one(r9) had, for example overheating

@@dannyleeracing Thanks. I would benefit too from profiles. Not sure about Grinch but i'm playing Dirt Rally 2.0 and Assetto Corsa - All Moza gear - R9, CS wheel and SR-P pedals. I generally just use the same settings for both games, but have 900 degrees set for AC and 540 for DR2

ive had a few DD's now and many belt and gear wheels and something has become rather obvious to me, the FFB produced by all of them is very very similar, the differences are often down to the mechanicals, comparing DD's is extremely difficult when it comes to FFB, i went from a fanatec DD1 to a simucube 2 pro and the FFB is almost identical, rumble strips feel like rumble strips and bumps feel like bumps, the only difference is mechanically the simucube is far smoother and slightly faster, you cant tune the fanatec to be as smooth as the simucube its a mechanical limitation and its one of the reasons i didnt like the fanatec honestly, no way around that notchy feel, in fact i hear the csl dd is even smoother to turn. Other things like the quick release of the simucube put the fanatec to shame but yeh the FFB is really very similar. not having had the csl dd or the moza r9 i cant in my mind imagine how they could possibly feel very different besides one being smoother than the other or one being noticeably quicker and snappier in rotation, the power levels are basically identical so the cars weight and the sustained force in long corners would be very similar and ofcourse bumps and stuff will always feel similar as the signal is always the same that does not change. good to see there are other options though, fanatec is great i like what they do but they dont take criticism of their hardware very seriously, i truly believe the DD1/2 is a step behind most others and it needs an update to fulfill that flagship status, they just are not smooth enough to feel like a real car and moza, simagic etc are all coming out with simucube levels of smoothness. Their quick release is utter dog shit aswell, always has been and always will be until QR2 comes along but they just dont seem to see the urgency at fanatec, what are they waiting for its a massive clear weakness to their product that surely they want fixed right this second, i would.

I would love your opinion on things like comparing lower end belt wheels like the TR300 vs a budget Direct Drive, have you had this experience?
