The arrangement was brilliant, respecting the original theme and adding so many emmotions to it. I think this was the performance doctors forbitten her to do, as she was recovering from pnemonia but she didn't want to let the audience down, as this was a single song competition.

Other than her obvious insane vocal ability and musicality, she really is a virtuoso arranger. This arrangement is a true masterpiece. Same can be said about many of her other arrangements.

Actually Sohyang made it her own but the original is from Irish band Secret Garden and she was singing for Irish band Westlife's Shane Filan and that flute is called Irish Whistle..

Back Story ........Kim, So Hyang "You Raise Me Up" Rendition As others already noted, the gentleman was Shane Filan of the Irish boy band "Westlife", who also had "You Raise Me Up" as a hit in Great Britain. This episode on Immortal Song 2 is Shane Filan Special so all the invited singers performed his songs with their own interpretation. In the pre-performance interview segment, Kim, So hyang mentioned that this rendition represents her personal story, presumably about her faith. If her Arirang Alone gives you a trip about Korean history, Kim, So hyang's masterful "You Raise Me Up" delivered a spiritual journey.Also Note .....This So Hyang has always struggled with her health during her lifetime with those many illnesses.. uterine cancer, hepatitis, chronic pneumonia, etc.. The night she sung You Raise Me Up She just got out of Hospital and was advised Not to sing...So she did that....lol It's really a miracle this one of the most skilled vocalist of all time could be in such poor condition. And definitely she is much more than great technician and has Perfect Control of Her Gift...and Her singing is so special.

Hai sir.........Sohyang voice is angelic. You know sir there is very funny story about Sohyang n Dimash Kudaibergen among a few Dimash fans that first time we react Dimash in 2017, we believe in that time Dimash was Sohyang male version. For more "spice" they added some reverb effects ... The musical arrangement is impressive and tricky, somehow it changes the sound of this beautiful song. I stick with classics.

Point well taken Vlad, and we like what we like! Reverb is not uncommon, depending on size and acoustics of the venue or if it’s outside! She probably used a little here because she was recovering from pneumonia and was actually advised not to perform, but she said people came expecting her to sing so she would not let them down! ( Phlegm in your throat would cause you to be a little flat) She rarely if at all sings a song exactly as the original was performed! Personally I don’t want someone to copy a song, I want their version( for me that is an artist, I can play the song or video at home to get the original.sound) She is a Gospel singer and makes changes she believe will raise the listeners Spirits and stir emotions! She does all the arrangements along with her team! In music the only thing or point of view that matters, is Yours! Have a great day Vlad:-)

@@tomsawyer2768 I realized instantly they wanted to hide something sensitive. I didn't know she was recovering after pneumonia. I have a very good musical hearing. Music is one of my hobbies. I had my pop time, rock time, jazz time, reggae time ... In time, I started to like classical music, opera and classical gospel included. A lot of good singers started singing gospel in church, my favorite young voice included ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/o52zd2ykmrBjn6s ). I think I'm openminded because I like every good rendition of a song no matter the genre, including rock/opera, pop/opera and others, everything sounds good to my ear.
