Thanks for the info. I really want this radio but I don’t want to be a beta tester.
@tomsop5 жыл бұрын
I was hoping to see you acually use ACCESS and fly with it to give impressions - is it any good? To be honest I quickly scrolled to see because I do not care how it gets installed or what to hook up in betaflight if it is not any better than my old gear. It's not your faults - I am waiting for that video to explain why we need this. The marketing from Taranis is horrible.
@TweetFPV5 жыл бұрын
I'm still testing the gear. so far i'm about 20 packs in and here is what i think: The range on this receiver is better than any 2.4g rx I've ever used. I can't attribute that to the ACCESS because I don't have much experience with the RX in the ACCST form. I have had no drop outs, or random connection issues. I am no expert pilot but the latency feels very low, but without the proper equipment i have no tangible way to measure this other than by how it feels. Do you NEED this.... Hell NO! In the future the only real advantages i can see with this ACCESS protocol is that you will have the ability to share your model with another person using a ACCESS transmitter with out needing to bind to their gear. Basically you can share your There will be OTA (over the air) updating of receiver settings and firmware from the transmitter. IMO this is the biggest advantage of the ACCESS protocol that i can see. Then there is latency. Frsky has a 9ms latency setting in the firmware but it is only if you use up to 8 channels. For most people flying FPV this is plenty. just for comparison crossfire is about 13-14ms (not my data). Again i have no way to prove that these numbers are real and not marketing wank. The downside of all this is ACCESS and ACCST can not exist at the same time and ACCESS is not backwards compatible. So this means that off brand receiver like the ones in the crazybee boards and the emax stuff for example will probably never have the ability to communicate with a ACCESS transmitter so the need for a multi protocol module will probably be a needed accessory for anyone who has a newer radio that has the ISRM transmitter module. I hope this was useful. If i missed anything please let me know and i'll try and answer.

The important info to me is how the new protocol works in comparison to the old in terms of latency, range, and consistency, any thoughts after flying with it?
@TweetFPV5 жыл бұрын
After flying it the range seams better even with the antennas in a less that optimal orientation. Rssi seams to be spot on with it being built into ch16. Latency I can't tell. I don't have the equipment to test that. I'm sure drone mesh will eventually do it. He is really good about that stuff but things don't make it to him very quickly. So far I really don't see much of a bennifit of the access protocol. But there may be bigger things going on down the road that need this communication standard.

I have been running access since day one and it does typically out perform older d16 recievers. Why does it make you mad that they are creating new tech? No one is forcing you to use it, and all your old gear still works just the same as it ever did. The only thing that I don't like about the new breed of radios is the lack of d8 support.

TweetFPV awesome. I did get the content downloaded and I moved it to the sd card with the card in a usb reader. Cause when I turn in the xlite it says sd card warning even tho it’s installed and loaded with the FireWire.

Something sounds wrong. You shouldn't be getting a sd card error. What does the error say?
@hallzy4265 жыл бұрын
tweetFVP so it says ( " SD Card Warning" expected ver:2.3v0019 press any key) it looks exactly like the throttle warning startup page but says all that. but the fireware in the menu says the correct version. ican access the sd card content thru the xlite menu and all the contents are in there but I have no sounds on startup or any and I get that warning message on start up
@TweetFPV5 жыл бұрын
You must be missing some part of the SD card contents. I would format the card again, re download everything and put it all in the root of the SD card. Also I'm not sure if it will make a difference or not but make sure you can see hidden files.

Is there support for installing the TBS Crossfire module?

In the latest nightly builds of opentx there is a option for crossfire. I have no way of confirming if this actually works or not. External modules like the Vantac mpm do work. They aren't super reliable yet but they do work. Nightly builds are very buggy and should only be used for testing and development purposes.

I'm honestly not convinced by this new process of register and then binding, for me binding should be able to allow to register at the same time and saved you some time. But i like the idea of being able to rename the receiver :) Inverted/uninverted smartport is not a big deal, just remap and use softserial on your FC and you will be able to inverted/uninverted using the CLI command tlm_inverted Have a great week and keep it up the great job!

Yea, I'm not too sure what the point is of this new process. But I guess there has to be some way to trigger the rx to associate with a TX. I can't wait to see what frsky has up thier sleeve for this stuff.

The size of the RX4R is not as bad as it looks in this video...The version of the RX4R you show here has a lot of unnecessary x/tra stuff on it as it is the "with pins" version. I sell the bare-bones/un-pinned version of the RX4R here at Boulder MultiRotor LLC / bouldermultirotor.com which you can find for sale here: bouldermultirotor.com/product/frsky-rx4r-recei…els-without-pins/ and it's actually much smaller than you might think!...the reason for this is that you don't need the pins, the smartport harness/connector, the foam pad, or the cardboard/paper input/output labels cover. All you need is the RX4R directly soldered and maybe a little thin piece of clear heatshrink. Anyway, I thought this might be important to mention since for most FPV pilots, size does matter :) Also, one other thing...the video mentions that the R9M-Lite module will eventually work with the X-Lite Pro but I don't believe this is correct. Especially since Frsky just released a new version of external module for the X-Lite Pro called the "R9M Lite Pro" with the following description: "The R9M Lite Pro is the upgraded 900MHz Lite module. It has a high-speed digital interface, supports up to 1W RF power, and is fully encased in a CNC aluminum protective shell which also aids in heat dissipation when using high RF power. Designed with the new ACCESS firmware, it also supports spectrum analyzer functions. The module is perfectly compatible with FrSky new ACCESS radios like Taranis X-Lite PRO and X9 Lite." Here is a link to their website for this new product: www.frsky-rc.com/product/r9m-lite-pro/?.com&EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_02_12_COPY_01&mc_cid=c00c2dffc0&mc_eid=ac2057c26e Frsky does currently have new ACCESS firmware for the RX4R, RX6R, G-RX6, and G-RX8 and they will eventually release new ACCESS compatible firmware for the following older receivers: RXSR, XM, XM Plus, RX8R Pro, plus I imagine a whole new line of ACCESS compatible receivers will be created since this is the direction they are headed. I'm glad they are finally jumping onboard with great features (that the TBS Crossfire already has) like OTA (Over The Air updates/firmware) and digital interface! Anyway, great video! Thanks for providing mostly accurate information (I do realize that some of the updated info I mentioned came out after the release of your video) and great step-by-step instructions for updating the RX4R to be compatible with the new X-Lite Pro!
