I tried both access and accst (instructions came for accst) but neither would bind. Tried a few times.. Then switched to xjt lite external module and binded instantly.. Feel like I'm losing range using xjt lite module instead of x9 lite s internal

You'll need to update the operating system and the internal rf fw. Additionally you'll probably need to update the fw on the rxsr as well.

I just got my R-XSR and your ACCESS flashing instructions are very welcome, quite clear and easy to follow. Do you have any advice about antenna positioning onboard the aircraft? There are two antennas that seem to be made from tiny coax. Only about 1 inch of the inner conductor is exposed at the ends, which I take to be actual antenna. I am thinking only the last inch or so needs to be "in the breeze" and vertical. Must the black part of each coax (about 2.75 inches long) be straight as well? Also does it matter how far apart these two 1 inch antennas are mounted onboard?

Thank you for the kind words. The only part of the antenna that needs to be exposed is the clearish ends. Ideally you would want them oriented 90 degrees from each other and as far away as possible but it doesn't make that big of a difference if they are close.

It's a bit buggy, for example. If the radio is allowed to power on with any switch or throttle warning the module will not power on. You then have to cycle the module on the configuration to get it to work again.

This video is very old. Frsky was using the name ISRM in place of ACCESS back then. Now you would select ACCESS.

Can you do a video of updating the firmware via path through by using Beta Flight? It will be a pain to update the firmware for XM and XM plus since it already solder in with wires and tuck in nice and neatly without tearing it down with my BNF version of my quads. Can’t wait for them to release the firmware for XM and XM Plus.

I will gladly make a video on flashing the XM series of receivers when the ACCESS FW comes out for them. I already have a video on how to lash a frsky RX using serial passthough. The only catch is the RX needs to NOT get power from the USB port. Sadly a LOT of flight controllers specify where to connect power for a RX and that pad most of the time gets 5V from the USB port.

I feel your pain :) It will be nice to eventually not have to deal with all the bs involved in removing, desoldering, having 3 different harnesses made for flashing, updating the R9M module for FPort on the R9MMs and realizing you just hosed 4 of your other quads and they now need to be disassembled and updated. Trappy is laughin his ass off. I honestly wish I had gone crsf right off the bat but my innate cheapness led me down the R9 road. This protocol looks like a light at the end of the tunnel :)

Yes it will but the radio needs to have opentx updated to monething newer than 2.3.0 and the internal rf module needs to be updated to access v1.1.3. I wouldn't recommend flashing v2.x to the internal module.

Pretty cool all the options available with the bidirectional telemetry, that's so sweet :) So no more FCC or EU file when using ACCESS firmware? Did you see by the way, all the latest products anouncements from FrSky (which pissed off a lot of people)? Basically a new X9D and a new R9 system dedicated for ACCESS :/ I hope they won't screw up all the proud owners of X9D+ and R9M/R9, that would be pretty disappointing but i have honestly a bad feeling about it! I wouldn't worry. I see frsky making things ok for frsky users, all should be compatible with access but I think the legacy stuff will just be missing some of the features of the isrm products. But again who knows.

So you should have some options for the rxsr pop up but it's been hit or miss for me. That's how you set the rxsr up for fport mode or low latency mode and a few other options. I still haven't pinpointed why it intermittent.

I always get registered successfully, but cant bind after registering the r-xsr, I can’t remember how I solved it the first time

After you register power down the Quad. Go to one of your rx slots at select bind then plug the Quad in. The reciever looks for a binding signal from the transmitter in the first few milliseconds of powering on. No need to press the bind button on the receiver.

I follow the tutorial with updated RX (XSRX with ACCESS v1.1.1.1) and TX (latest firmware with ACCESS). On TX, the only option for internal RF is ACCESS .... using ACCESS I cannot register/bind the RX. COuld you try to repeat this tutorial using ACCESS on internal RF, please ?

If you have internal rf selected on a model then go Into the radio setting and see what version fw is flashed to your isrm and what region it says (fcc or lbt)

Hi, I have the X9D 2019. I just flashed my radio to 2.3.4, you set your internal rf to isrm. Mine has access and accst D16 only. Do you know if isrm is in 2.3.4

Isrm is a separate fw that needs to be loaded. Opentx is the os on your radio the isrm is the internal radio module. You can get the fw for that from frsky. Com or you can check which version you have in your system menus. Btw you need to have a model selected that has the internal rf module tuned on to power the isrm and see the fw version.

The rxsr can be tricky to bind. It has the ability to switch into cppm mode if you hold the bind button for 4 seconds after its powered on. You can tell if you are in sbus mode because the led will be blue.

My guess is that you have the wrong wires connected to the rxsr for flashing. Be sure you are soldered to the smart port pad and are selecting flash s.port in the radio.

Most likely you have different fw flashed to the rx and the xlite. Which rx are you using?

I have the rxsr, with x lite pro. First off, I had put the d16 fw on it for my older quad. But just built a new one and wanted to be on ACCESS. So I flashed both the rxsr and the x lite pro. At first I had the wrong sd card contents, it would tell me when I powered on the x lite pro. Got that figured out. But still won't register.

I finally got it figured out! Turns out I needed to flash rxsr with fw 1.1.1 f port. I was trying 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 thinking it would have it all. Now it's all registered and bound, thank you!

ACCESS and F.port are two completely different things. If you are trying to get F.port to work with a F4 flight controller most likely your issue is that F.port needs to be connected to a UART TX pad that also has a built in inverter unless you are using a inverted F.port signal. Can you give me more details on your setup like which FC and RX you are using?

You should be able to now but I have yet to test this with the xlite pro. The latest fw has some issues with fcc vs lbt. Basically it thinks my xlite pro is a EU version and won't let me go back to fcc.

Possibly. If you can create a model in your radio that uses accst d16 then you should be good. If you can no then you will need to update the os on your radio.

It should be fairly easy. You will need access to the bind button on the r-xsr. Basically to out the rxsr into bind mode you need to hold the bind button down while powering the Quad on. This can be difficult one handed. If it's in bind mode the red led should be flashing. Then select bind in your radio. Exit bind mode in your radio and unplug your Quad. When you power your Quad back up you should see a solid green, red, and blue light.

Well it sounds like it's bound. My guess is you have something wired incorrectly between your rxsr and your fc then. A very common mistake is soldering the s.port wire from the rxsr to the sbus pad by mistake. Or using f.port on a f4 fc without a built in inverter.

it was already bounded and i flew it, its just that ive tried updating to the latest firmware. apparently my xlite pro couldnt fly but the range couldnt go anything beyond 100m and frsky said to update to the latest firmware and now i got it binded and no inputs

Did you update your isrm firmware and the access fw on the rx? Because they have to match. Ie you can't have isrm v1. 1.3 on the radio and access V 1.1.2 on the receiver. They need the same.

good I have x9d + se2019 and I can not see flash s.port in the access menu to put the firmware of the r-xsr, I only get the previous methods flash external module and flash internal module and that's how I've done it, I have in the x9d + se 2019 FW-X9DP2019-ISRM-V1.1.3 and opentx-x9d + 2019-flexr9m-lua-es-2.3.2, I don't know what I'm doing wrong or I don't know if the r-xsr doesn't support flash s .port, although I see it in videos of frsky xlite, could clarify doubt, greetings.

The 2019 edition has a s. Port plug in the battery bay on the right hand side. Connect your rxsr to that and select flash external. That should flash your rxsr.

there has been a lot of changes to the frsky ecosystem since this video. I highly recommend making sure your radio's operating system is updated as well as the ISRM FW.
