I love all my HOTA chargers but it bothers me when I try to charge my small 2s batteries or the bigger Spektrum one without balance leads. But it seems to work with 1S. I´ll get one of those boards if I need many batteries for my indoor flyer(s)
@diggsit693 жыл бұрын
can you tell me when you’re hooking up multiple 1S batteries to the parallel board do you count each battery as one cell so if you had two or three batteries would it be 2 cell or 3 cell on the charger setting? or do you just leave it at 1S battery when you put your calculations in the charger, and if it’s like 450 MAH for each battery do you add all three together so you have 1350 MAH and then come up with the amperage of 1.3 A , if that’s correct and if I’m right let me know ,thank you!
@TweetFPV3 жыл бұрын
It depends on which type of board you are charging with. There are parallel board and series boards. If it's parallel then treat it as 1s and just add the capacity. If it's series then each pack is a new cell so add the cells and keep the capasity the same as one cell.
@HciContractor Жыл бұрын
That's a great question! I was hoping I could charge two or three at a time.
@HciContractor Жыл бұрын
@@TweetFPV the plot thickens.... but that makes perfect sense. I didn't think I would have to add the mah together but it makes sense. Thanks brother man!
@diggsit69 Жыл бұрын
@@HciContractor like I said if your parallel board is charging 1s 🔋 you charge on 1s at 3.8 V an just add the MAh for each battery total, so if the Lipo is 520 mAH an you have 3 battery’s then it would be approx 1560 mAH that can Charge 1.5 A or lower is best!
@herbertplatzer21723 жыл бұрын
i know the video is old but i still have some question. With this method you charge paralell or serial? Don't you need to change from 1s to 2 or 3s depence on whow much batteries you connected? I charge my 1s with a 3s balance charging cable, but sometimes i get error. If this method is more safe then i switch over. Thanks again.
@TweetFPV3 жыл бұрын
With this method you are charging in parallel so 1s voltage and the capasity is to total capasity of all the batteries added together.

Dude, you just saved 4 1s batteries of mine. Thanks a lot! 😃 I have a cable I made a while ago to connect 1s cells in series to discharge them, but it was for those old and small connectors... I don't have PH2.0 connectors to make something like that to discharge those 4 cells. BUT, because of your video, I remembered I have a 1s to 3s parallel board! And I didn't even needed to make the little cable, because it already came with it! 😃 (But it's a bit different, it has 2 PH2.0 connectors, the board already has the place to connect it.) 😃
@jaysmith43945 жыл бұрын
It must be possible to make an adapter where you can put 6 1s batteries in series with a balance lead. Making a 6s pack. that way I can charge 12 1s batteries at once?
@jibbajabba45975 жыл бұрын
Jay Smith there is, just look at how a, say 3s is wired up and instead of where the cells are, put ph2 connectors on. The only drawback is if the cells are not close, the charger will spend ages trying to balance them rather than charging them (depending on the charger of course) so it's often better to use one of those multi charging boards that come with the whoops, charge the batteries up then discharge them to storage state with the multi-cable.
@jaysmith43945 жыл бұрын
I assumed it would just try to get them all to the target voltage before balancing. Hmm, ok. I guess it's better to just use a 1s charger.
@jibbajabba45975 жыл бұрын
Jay Smith don't quote me on this but judging by how my charger behaves, as soon as the first cell hits the target voltage, it stops fast charging and then tries to balance the cells by discharging the high cell and a back and forth process, this is where the time goes, we fly indoor and found it quicker during slots to use those six way chargers to charge six cells than use the bigger charger and make it think it was a 6s 500mAh battery.

If your balance board is running the plugs in parallel, why do you need a balance connector? I’ve never needed one. Maybe this is a quirk of that particular charger?

Yea you most likely do not need the balance plug connected to the charger with 1s packs.

Do you not need a 2S balance to XT30 for each set of balance leads on the balance board?
@TweetFPV4 жыл бұрын
No, because all the balance pins are connected to the same on in line with it. So all the ground pins are connected to each other and all the first cell positive voltage pins are connected. So only one jumper lead is needed because they are all electrically the same. I hope that answers your question.
@BlakeT874 жыл бұрын
TweetFPV thank you! I went back and watched the beginning when you explained that all pins were connected in sequential order, so that answered my question :) thank you! I’m trying to find a good solution for 2S batteries with PH2.0 connection for TinyHawk 2. I have an ISDT 608AC and I’ll be getting a 2S-6S balance board in early May (damn amazon)... any suggestions?
@TweetFPV4 жыл бұрын
Hmm. I guess that would work the same way but don't connect the 2 pin connector to the parallel board. You will want to connect the 3 pin balance plug to the board. This becomes a little sketchier since now you are dealing with multi cell packs unlike the 1s packs where there are no additional cells to balance. With that then you would need to get a 4s balance lead to feed the pack voltage back to the chargers xt60 port This is assuming that you were going to occupy all you parallel spots with the emax 2s packs and that you are using a parallel board like the one i used in the video.

Great video for charging 1s lipowith PH2. How would you recommend charging a 1s lipo with an XT30?
@TweetFPV4 жыл бұрын
There are a few different ways to change your 1s xt30 packs. Some chargers support in balanced charging with just the main discharge lead. So just a xt30 to xt60 adapter. Another way is to do basically what I did in this video. The xt30 will take the board voltage to the balance lead to satisfy the charger and just plug in all you xt30 1s packs keeping in mind the normal parallel charging safety precautions.

Nice video. I find it amazing that it seems no company seems to make a 1s multi-charger that balance charges as well. I looked and looked earlier this year and there was nothing. Some company could shit loads of money if they did.
@diggsit693 жыл бұрын
My other question was I got a parallel board and it came with a jumper cable but they only specify when you’re charging multiple 1S batteries you need the jumper cable. but if you’re charging 2S or 3S batteries or higher you got to take the jumper cable off the charging board. I learned this the hard way by trying to charge 2S batteries with the jumper cable plug in and the Board started to smell an smoked and it burned out the 1S charging port on the parallel board, and they don’t give any information or instructions on the parallel board or how to use it correctly other than that you need the jumper cable to charge multiple 🔋! The dangerous part of buying this junk from China is even with some boards having some ports soldered in reverse polarization as well!
@danman76655 жыл бұрын
That’s pretty smart, I use a 6s balance connector that I put 6 ph2 connectors on the other end so my charger thinks it’s a 450mah 6s battery but its 6 individual batteries. This is smarter if you already have an balance board that does 1s

I love this charger, the only thing that annoys me a little bit (which of course is not that important anyway, the most important is that this charger works amazing)... that slow screen refresh rate, almost like old video cards trying to cope with some heavy gfx video game... Almost every single screen works in similar ways, but most of other chargers deal with higher refresh rate, which for human eye is of course always more pleasant. D6 Pro has really slow refresh rate, it's totally noticeable. Here is the slowed down animated GIF made from the part of your video. Pay special attention to the part when blue page starts loading: i.imgur.com/ttJqHUT.mp4
