When I was like maybe a sophomore to junior etc this shit was on all the time and it was perfectly timed for that part of my life. Coming home after a night of shrooms or lsd, maybe just tons of herb, and trying to get sleep before school but totally unable to, turning on adult swim and tripping. The dawn is your enemy bumper used to come up constantly and I would be laughing getting ready for school all tore up and shit.
@jbruh62462 жыл бұрын
Yeah I would say its definitely not for everyone, it really all depends on how you feel about night time, especially if you aspire to the day = good, night = bad paradigm. Night time was always the opposite for me, knowing that everyone else was asleep and the expectations that were constantly forced upon you during the day were gone. Another one worth bringing up: Moral Orel got canceled because of the ‘Alone’ episode. The show was originally meant to have 5 seasons, but when they aired Alone the Adult Swim executives were so put off by the super dark tone of the episode (which dealt with subjects like rape and abortion) that they not not only scrapped seasons 4 and 5 but also cut season 3 (the season Alone is from) in half. There were a lot of storylines that never saw the light of day. It’s interesting to see how the show would’ve played out had it stuck around, but I think the creators were able craft a pretty good ending with what they had left.

Ah man, your friend should've included about the "The Heart She Holler" screamers! THSH was a show starring a creepy monster, and Adult Swim promoted it by randomly inserting 2 second long screamers throughout the night. It was so quick and subtle that it almost made you question whether it actually happened or if you're just seeing things.
@Kodeb83 жыл бұрын
Oh, and I almost forgot! Sometime in the 2000s, AS for some reason aired reruns of Saved By The Bell, for like 2 weeks. The bumpers in between were some nightmare fuel distorted clips from the show. Also, people online got so pissed at this that they started calling Adult Swim "crappy 80s sitcom network" (or something like that), so Adult Swim changed the logo in the corner to [crappy 80s sitcom network].

Honestly, Hanna Barbera is probably the most lenient when it comes to usage of their properties. My school district uses cartoon mascots instead of bus numbers (I rode the Casper and Tigger bus my whole school career lol). Some Karen of a parent got pissed at the district and reported use of Disney & Hanna Barbera's property and as we all know, Disney comes down with the might of Thor's (copyrighted, trademarked, licensed) hammer and the district immediately got rid of those cartoons. But Hanna Barbera was like, "naw u guys r gud 👍.' /goodguyhanna
@spookyfirkser3 жыл бұрын
Stupid. There is *only* more money to be made by getting kids allied with your characters for stuff like bus numbers. The buses themselves aren't making any money by using the characters, they're just using them to divide the children, which will 100% build character allegiance and make those kids more likely to watch the properties and buy merchandise.

@@myriahg6549 that fucker definitely winked! I remember seeing it as a kid when I'd stayed over at my grandparents house, and my uncle and I stayed up to watch adult swim. Eventually, he decided to go to bed around 3 so he could atleast get a few hours of sleep before work, and I stayed up to finish watching everything. I think I'd decided I'd stay up to watch whatever was first coming on after [as] (knd, I think) and lo and behold, I'm hit with that image and the sound of grating metal, chains, and muffled screams, and right when I was getting un-freaked out about it, the goddamned sun winked at me! Good times, really. Now I get an odd sorta nostalgia when I think about it.
@lepsonical47633 жыл бұрын
I think I can explain why some people think AS is personalized. A lot of those bumpers play real late at night, obviously. And due to this, people are more likely to forget they ever saw the bumper, and most people wont even see it, especially if it's playing on a work or school night. And the fact that most people can't even find these bumpers comes down to the fact that these bumpers aren't being preserved or archived because of how late they play. It's likely that a lot of bumpers you've seen have now become lost media. I've actually got an experience with a bumper before that nobody has seemed to remember. Basically, it was this woman advertising Adult Swim in one of those travel agency advertisement voices. Out of nowhere, however, she pulls out this morbid fun fact about how thousands of people are lost at sea a year, and their skeletons are forever stuck at the bottom of the ocean. Needless to say, that shit kept me up for a good hour or so.

As someone who grew up watching adult swim from 2002 - 2016 it was a return to classic Adult Swim in a way. It was a natural evolution of the show Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job and felt extremely in tune for the time which is why it did so well. Much like when Aqua Teen Hunger Force ended, it just added more jade to the channel and was ultimately what made me stop watching. In the early days it was for the counter culture teens/adults who would enjoy spaceghost, sealab 2021, Aqua teen, and venture bros as well as the teen girls who loved anime and would ogle over Inuyasha and the protagonist from Trigun. Family Guy/Dethklok/Robot Chicken was the peak of Adult Swim and tapered off towards the end with a dead cat bounce from Off the Air and MDE world peace.

Adult Swim original version was simply the image, and then the creepypasta happened in which Adult Swim knows about it...so they showed it again with the slight screams and the sun winking at you

I was introduced to adult swim shortly after being introduced to the internet, and it’s been a great ride for the last +20 years. Oblongs should be added with Family Guy and Futurama. People should search Frisky Dingo, and be amazed how similar Archer looks to Xander, and similar archetype. The postcard from the show the character voiced by Killer Mike critiqued in an episode, came with the DVD.

I was way to young for watching adult swim when I discovered it. I remember having a particular interest on Aqua Teen Hunger force, but every time I tried to watch adult swim block I ended with fear from technically nothing. Once I remember my mother watching it at 4am and I fkn cried, my mom just laughed, she changed the channel and end of the story. Sadly she abandoned me later that year LMAO

About the last part of the iceberg, I remember there being a bumper where a fake weather report skit was talking about how "The sun can literally kill you". When I first saw it, it was way more eccentric, had an extended part, and the "kill you" part was yelled instead of just regularly spoken. But the last time I saw it, it was cut and the weather guy didn't yell at all. Although that could just be a Mandela effect, I still felt like sharing.
